I'll play devils advocate. Get what you can afford now. Keep all the paperwork, box, receipt, etc. start saving for your upgrade. Use what you have in the meantime. When you are ready to upgrade sell what you have. you should be able to get about 75% of your original purchase price if you have all the docs and box and take care not to damage it. Now way I would sacrifice 3-4 years without any glass waiting for the good stuff. Drop $800 on a new viper HD or equivalent now. Save $1000 over the next 3 years. Sell your Viper for $600. Now you have $1600 to upgrade but you also 3 years of use out of a decent piece of glass. Just an alternate plan. Both arguments are valid

Midway's shipping is not much better. One time I calledMidway to complain about the shipping price. It was almost $8 for a neck bushing. They they cut it to around $5.00. I asked them why they they didn't just give everyone the best shipping price and they just said "can we help you with anything else, sir?"

Yep I use the SST and the Amax. The SST are basically the same bullet as the tried and true Hornady interlock with a plastic tip. I use the SST for elk and the Amax for everything else. For sure going to try their new bullet ELD-X when it's available.

I just took a bunch of junk out of my pack that I rarely use and use the same rifle. example - I don't need to carry 25 bullets. If I miss 10 times, go home. I don't need 3 knives. A havelon and a small pocket knife will take care of anything. I don't need a bunch of junk food. a granola bar and jerky is enough for an entire day. I don't need a gallon of water. I drink a bunch of water the day before. Drink a bunch more in the morning and on the way to my hunting area. Carry one or two bottles, depending on the temps and area.
