With the In Reach you can send a receive texts like a cell phone from anywhere via satellite, also Bluetooth to your smart phone to see maps from the GPS.
The Spot has a purpose - which is good but is limited.
The Inreach is a fully functioning GPS that you can text almost like a smart phone -
Plus Garmin is a freaking awesome company!
+1 on Garmin.

I just spoke with Eric over at axis works this morning. Im gonna have him build me a coues sniping rifle just so I can see what its all about. Life is all about experiences right? Ive never killed anything with a rifle, well see how that compares to watching an arrow blow through one at 20 yards.
It tastes the same

Last Friday went out to do some scouting in the unit I have a rifle tag for
Climbed one ridge, put up the glass and found a herd within 60 seconds
Watched them a few minutes the noticed a guy across the canyon wathing them also
He called in the calvary and 15 min later 4 Polaris full of dudes showed up
All but 2 of them headed off in the wrong direction. A dad and his son headed toward the herd. The kid shot one with his MLer and spooked the other 12-15 pigs to the rest of the Army
They started shooting at every moving object with their handguns. Surprised no humans bit the dust They got one down but I watched 3 limp off in different directions wounded.

My buddy and I still laugh about it. I work in waste water treatment and that smell was way worse than anything at work!!!
yes! The tar crap is normal! There was some black tar stuff coming out of that lions butt... I can still smell it today. Cooking it myself probably wouldnt happen. Not sure if thats normal for predators as I dont do much predator hunting
You ever work down stream of a Filibertos?

DesertBull, I've been looking for a budget carbon fiber tripod as well and these look pretty good. Did you ever get one of these?
No I have not bought one yet.

Anyone have a recipe for it. Is it even edible?
A turd covered in burnt hair is edible.

I am trying to figure out how to pronounce coues, like tomato. Is it cows or kews.
There's been a quiet coupe d'etat to overthrow the president of the United States for a year and we're talking about the proper name to call a javelinaMeanwhile, our hunting rights are dwindling. Sounds like HB2210 passed today, one step closer to our land being sold off. Next step is taking lions and bobcats.
I pronounce it like this VIC TOE REE

Ive heard those old strip mines back east offer some great hunting. Some of it even a little western style glassing type of hunts for whitetail and elk.
-
Anyone have any first hand experience with these. They get really good reviews from photographers but cant find anyone using them for glassing.

McCain helped get this pushed through by letting the mine trade little parcels of private land scattered all over the state for this big chunk of public land. Superior town officials were against it but McCain didnt care. It was an election year. Chrony capitalism.

On the first of February, I will be heading over to New Mexico's to hunt Audad in Unit 29 & 30. Having never seen an Audad and I've never set foot in the area, we are going in completely blind. Initially our plans are to hunt the Guadalupe mountains, but I have concerns that we will have a lots of competition. Our other thoughts are to check out the "flatter" less obvious country of unit 29, but I'm not sure how widespread the sheep are distributed.
If you have hunted this area before, is it possible to find sheep anywhere in these two units or should we stick to the more notable mt ranges?

Grivalja or what ever his name is tried to make a large chunk of borderland a wilderness area so no motor vehicles could patrol there.
