    My buds buck

My friend Chad got a day off yesterday so I went to the mountain with him to try and help him geta deer down on his last day. He glassed up this guy in the AM and we bedded him at around 10am. After a long uphill hike we got to 400yds from the last tree we saw him in. After 4 hours of butt rot, he finally came out. Congrats buddy on your first 100"er.

    fat lady aint sung yet

Well I took my ol man out on his whitetail hunt this last week and he missed this buck we dubbed HIGHTOWER at 411 yds twice, right over the back. This man taught me everything I know about coues, and I guess even at 63yrs old, buck fever can still afflict you. We found him two days following the let down, but didnt offer a shot op again. Its all good, I have the same unit in 2 weeks...sleep well hightower.

Actually, this buck "screamed" ground shrinkage. All that stupid height made me really ignore the spread. Still a good buck, did a rough score and hes around 100"

    What will score higher?

half way between the last tine and the end of the mainbeam. not the center of the tine, but either way will be close enough for a rough score.

    Glassing

Depends on where your vantage point is for each spot you hunt. Some of my spots have low vantage pts. and some are high vantage pts. But if I have a low and a high vantage point in the same spot, Ill hit the low one first(usually). That way I dont spook anything that might be lower heading to the upper.

two coues in two different units

you picked a good spot to start your coues hunting in. Stick with that area, theirs some gooduns in there.

    Dilemma

go to your spot the evening before, glass till dark. Find what is there...if you find a buck that you want, get there first thing in the morning, find him (cause you know where to look), shoot him, and pass the trail blazers on the way back to your truck before the sun comes up.

    Best Bivy Ground Pad

Are you talkin bout a assgasket while glassing? If so, I use the black insulation padding they use to wrap duct work. Its about 1" thick and works great. You can buy it at any hardware store, but most likely a commercial HVAC biz would be a for sure deal. They come in all kinds of sizes...buy a big piece and cut down with utility knife to whatever your butt size is It folds and compacts really nice in your pac and isnt heavy at all. They last bout a year with lots of hours on em. Try it...you'll likey!!
