When doing your grid pattern, I like to go up and down versus left to right. Although your arm does tend to get tired moving up and down versus using your nose to go left n right, I think that you are more apt to get off your grid and accidently get off track. IMHO.

Try looking around Diamond Bell. Its just south of three points. You can get there by taking Sierrita Mtn Rd south.

I had a 21 tag, spot n scare style is what I was after, and would have to say I definately succeeded on the scaring part. I hunted this buck exclusively....but could only get bout 100yds before gettin busted every time. This pic is the last chance I had to get him. He had a lil buck with him and 3 does. From where I took this pic was 100yds of open meadow, so I had some time to kill hoping that they would get up and wander in my direction. Of course the wind changed direction and sealed my fate. Best of luck on your final days fellow goat hunter. Im ROOT'N for our team!

I have this hunt also. It was my second choice. Last year I put in for the late hunt first and then the first hunt. Late hunt of course because of the rut and first hunt, of course for the first crack. But with that bein said, from hunting the Oct. hunt last year, Ill pass up the first crack, for better temps. It was frickin hot out there. I never am right next to a road, so my hiking is fairly extreme. First, having enough water was a big issue for me, second, the deer movement was next to non-exsistent. Not that I didnt see any bucks, just that the opportunities were far less of seeing more. So with that being said, even though there are gonna be quite a few hunters out in the field before me, I know that the areas I hunt will still produce, I wont be sweatin my arse off (which makes me feel better in the field, and keeps me positive), deer movement will be much more positive, and I think Im gettin all excitied. WOOHOO!!

Your eyes are just another muscle, you have to exercise em to make em strong. My ol man has the same exact problem. I just think that you have to force yourself to look through the scope to build up your eyes. JMHO
