25-06 first centerfire rifle?
king4wd replied to Simple Hunter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Don't mind Travist1. He's just out of the military and despite all my convincing, hasn't yet been cured of his NATO round fascination. I think a 25-06, .243, 22-250, .220 swift, or 6mm remington could all be good shooters for the boy. (and maybe the .223 ) -

I bought this gun a couple years ago and set it up just for Predators. It's one heck of a gun and has shot plenty of coyotes and fox. Even a quail or two. I have the original 28" vent rib barrel. Extras I have for it include Scope mount - Cost me $20 NC Star Paralex Sight - Cost me $80 21" barrel with removable choke capabilities - Cost me $180 Truglo Snap on sight - Cost me $15 The gun shoots very well. I might have a couple extra choke tubes I can throw in too. I have over $1000 wrapped up into this gun and would like to get $800 for the whole package. I would also consider trade for a Remington 870 + Cash, or other trades. The gun's retail price is $879. Here's Remington's Website for more info on the gun. PM if interested

First facebook and now cwt.com. You guys could get big things accomplished if you weren't busy giving each other a hard time all the time. Think of the possibilities!

You passed us just off the Fair Oaks Rd. We were in a silver Nissan Titan. We were varmint calling but it looked like you were possibly youth deer hunting?

Set this up on what was a fresh scratch that I found back in March. The scratch was long destroyed when I set the camera but I figured, what the heck. There are 4 total lions traveling in the area. 1 mom with 2 full grown kittens, one of the kittens is a male that we caught in March. The fourth cat is a large tom that keeps coming through the area, I'm sure waiting for a chance to kill the younger tom we caught earlier in the year. Here's the kitten when we caught him in March.

Camper is working out great! I only used it on one hunt last year, but I'm getting ready for a buddies archery 9 bull tag and I have a 21 October WT tag. It will get used this winter for sure!

A lion scratch is usually a spot where they have cleared all the pine needles and leaves. This particular scratch was about a foot in diameter and had a 1.5" diameter fresh green lion turd right in the middle. Sometimes, instead of going right in the middle of the clearing, they cover up their excrement with the material they used to clear the bare spot. Sometimes there is no feces at all and I guess they are just urinating on the scratch. I am told by some pretty experienced houndsman that you will usually find them under trees that are fairly well protected from the elements. I am also told that it is usually the Toms that are making the scratches. Trust me, once you see one, you will now know exactly what it is.

Here's the links to yesterdays and todays articles. Yesterdays Todays Two things don't add up for me on this deal, #1 If this lion pounced on this guy's back I think it would have left more than one 2 inch "scratch" on his back . #2 If the lion was stalking this guy, then why did it "growl"? Aren't they pretty stealthy predators? Just me being skeptical I guess.
-
HA! I wasn't thinking it could have been one of those middle aged female type cougers I guess one of those could have left a 2 inch scratch if she hadn't had her nails done recently.

This one came through a couple of times. I got pics of some of his friends and they don't have the same bald spots. Almost looks like mange but I don't thing pigs can get it. Any ideas?

Yeah, I've seen that bald spot on them while field dressing them, but this one has bald spots on the side and up around the neck.

NICE! Congrats.

TREE STANDS- SOLD BADLANDS PACK- PENDING AR-7- PENDING BLACK HAWK PACK- STILL FOR SALE $100 BIVY- PRICE LOWERED TO $100 .32 CALIBER POP GUN- PRICE LOWERED TO $80 -
I'm getting rid of some stuff that I just don't really use any more. I have listed prices, but would consider trades for the following, Garmin GPSmap60 Pop Up Blind Decent Adjustable scope in the 2-7 power range I am in prescott valley so you can pick up here or I can charge you to ship anywhere in the US. PM me if interested. First up I have two tree stands and lots of tree stand accessories. One stand is a cabelas climber and the other is a gorilla hang on stand. I also have 3 rapid rail ladders, tree steps, bow hangers, harness. All this gear shows wear, but is in working order. They always lived in the garage when they weren't up in a tree during the season. Looking for $150 for the whole group of tree stand stuff. Next I have a BLACKHAWK! black timber pack. It is the digital ACU pattern, has MOLLE straps all over and has only been used a handfull of times this last winter. Comes with two canteen holders. Is a little dirty. Looking to get $100. Next, a Badlands 2800. A few years old, a little dirty, but no holes, tears, frays, etc.... Asking $150 Next, a charter arms AR-7 survival rifle. This one has been accesorized with collapsable stock, and double flip magazine. Missing the rear peep sight but you can get them for less than $15 online. I completely rebuilt the guts to this rifle a few years ago and have less than 25 rounds through it since then. Great backpacking gun. I've shot plenty of rabbits and squirrels on wilderness trips with it. Asking $100 Next a .32 caliber muzzle loader. It was my grandpas and I don't know a whole lot about it. It would be a great first gun for a youngster. Comes with a field kit and a tackle box full of stuff for it. Extra barrel included and is missing the font sight. half a dozen ram rods included. loading block. lots of extras. Asking $100 Next an OR aurora Bivy sack. Here is a LINKto find out more. I slept in it once and it is still in great shape. Asking $125

Game and Fish's website says, Areas: By far, the majority of antelope in GMU 17B reside on the Las Vegas, Bar Triangle, and Long Meadow ranches in the northeastern part of the unit. These ranches are predominantly private property, and hunting is allowed by permission only and may involve an access fee. A few pronghorn can also be found in the northwestern portion of the unit, west of the U. S. Forest boundary. These animals frequently move back and forth across Camp Wood Road, which is also the boundary between Units 17B and 18B. And it's the truth. It's tough to get in there for sure.
