    2010 January archery successes!

This is my 2010 mule deer buck . Could'nt resist now i gotta sit out the rest of the year,( it sucks already!) Nothing like killing something with your bow though! Killed him on the first morning I went out. The next few days I was trying to help my brother and my dad get a nice 3x4 I had seen a couple times . I did'nt put in for pig this year it just slipped my mind, but as usual you see them all over when you deer hunting! So with one week left to hunt them I decided to buy a leftover tag. Went out two afternoons and got a pretty big sow. Now what? The long wait!!

    hybrid?

No it's 100% whitetail. A guy at work is freinds with this mans son and was there. He killed it sitting water never hunted whitetail before. It was last year.

    Feeders in AZ

Am I on the right site? This is Monstermuleys right? Wow this ones out of control! It's a wonder that hunter numbers are on the decline!
  5. Well...I have the same name and the same tag as you! And I will be in the wilderness area as well.Good place and there is whitetail all the way to the rim so dont overlook any area as you are driving.Ive seen them just above dougas. The road isnt too bad until you get about 3 miles from the rim, then it changes drasticly.Quad is by far my favorite method,I will never drive either of my trucks to the rim again, and i go there alot so that should tell you something. Not sure how far the water makes id down the agua fria but you wont see any water from it down that direction.

    First hunt(s)

I grew up with a handfull of the hillbies earlier in the thread.Lived in cottonwood all but two years of my life.So ive cut tracks through alot of units in the center of the state.Soon as i figured out how to walk ive been chasin' my dad through the woods tryin' to keep up! When my brother started walkin' it was always the three of us from then on.My dad had his work cut out for him then! I remember him haulin'us up in the tree stand with a string of mule tape!that could'nt have been easy ,but we loved it.After that theres hardley a time of year there is'nt something to hunt and we usually take part in most of it.Life goes on and things change, but hunting has always been that one thing that brings us all together, and i wouldnt trade a day in the feild for anything. Now I have a son of my own ,and I only hope I can instill The same passion for the outdoors with him,as my dad did for me.I cant wait!...............my favorite units are 5b south for elk (grew up there) 21 for any kind of deer.
  7. Went out to check our cameras for the early 21 wt hunt, braught my bow just in case I saw a good buck.On the way back we jumped this guy off a spring,my buddy squeeked at him and he stopped at 50yrds. Smoked him! could not believe it,never thought my first bobcat would be with a bow!

How to stop (or decrease) trail camera theft.

Believe it or not I got one of those $84.00 tasco's from wall mart the other day and they have a password deal on 'em. It makes it pretty difficult for sure.I was scolling through and typed in a bogus password, couldnt remember what i did and i could not operate the thing what so ever.If you type the wrong password 3 times it shuts it off.It took me about an hour to figure out exactly what I had done, and the only reason i figured it out was because it was simple 2000.Any other set of numbers and I was screwed. You cannot change the password either unless you figure out the real one first. Takes a pretty good picture too, video also.Only reason i get the cheep crap,is because it hurts alot less when its gone.

I love hunting period....early ,late,Whatever they want to give me.But lately they seem to give out early tags freely.Im not the guy who can aford to hunt all over the country every year.Living in a state that allows one deer a year,IMO I would have to be insane to pass up a sure tag every year.Yes im young and have been an athlete all my life, and that is why I probably like the early hunt better, because its harder, hotter and I have to constantly push myself to keep going. But thats what i need and i realize everyone is different. But I do have to say that comparing it to a late elk hunt is quite different to me.Pre rut and post rut are very different to me.Elk have been hunted 3-4 times by the time the late hunts start.Early white tail hunts you are chasing animals that have not seen a hunter since the occasional archer in jan. These are just my opinions and reasons for liking what i do.No disrespect to anyone, and I could be wrong on all accounts. im also an avid archer so after september elk do not even exist until its shed pickin time.go figure! but thats a different disscusion all together.

I gotta say i agree! I love the early tags, and getting them every year.I always put a dec. hunt first choice but always get the early tag. These are the funnest animals to hunt by far,so if they want to give me a tag every year....perfect!!! Yeah its a little warm still, but thats arizona and im ok with that.Odd's are,if you find a buck theres probably more with him.Archery is not a bad racket eather.

    broadheads

I am very impressed with the slick tricks! Two years ago they where pretty new and I had never heard of them, but I had an elk tag and wanted to try a new head. The local archery shop let me try 4 of the newest demo heads they had.The G5,nap razor cap,shuttle-t,and the slick trick.I narrowed it down by which flew the best out of by bow ,and the shuttle-t and slick trick flew just like my field tips with no tuning.I wanted to choose as un-biased as I could,I knew the shuttle-t's where indestructable, but the way I made my descision was that the slick tricks penetrated farther through my target every time. They where new and cheaper than most so i tried them.I was very impressed.A little 100g broadhead destroyed my elk.It might have been a coinsidense but i have never seen an elk get hit that hard with a stick in my life.I didnt need to use it but there was a great blood trail also.Long story short I did a little field testing of my own and found what worked best for me.There is alot of great heads now and you will get alot of feedback from die-hards for a certain head, but I recommend trying a few and see what works best for you and your set-up.
  21. This little guy is the best thing Ive ever been a part of. My pride and joy! And if he chooses to be,my future little hunting partner. I cant wait. I cant be the only one, lets see what you are most proud of!
