  1. Pull everyone's money the day after the draw deadline. No different than mailing checks. Then you don't have problems. Other states have figured it out.

Good point, take the funds pronto. However that probably would cut down on how many tags people apply for... but that may be a benefit to in staters who are competing with out of staters. I say... must buy a license and pay for tags up front. That would open up our hunting a bit. Am I wrong? I know out of town outfitters have people apply that don't need to pay up front unless drawn.

  2. "The real problem is that, even if you think it is not going to hold up in court, the cost of court is not cheap, and as mentioned above, you are guilty until proven innocent."

Actually, the bromide should be: ""You are innocent until proven bankrupt." :D

Here's a scenario that stretches the definition of road hunting and provides examples of why we should not try to legislate ethics and sportsmanship:

You know a spot where a certain buck you've been watching beds during the day. It's an easy 200-yard shot uphill from a graded road, It's cold and spitting rain when you arrive there before first light, so you decide to stay in your truck until the sun is well above the horizon. You've been parked there, on the edge of the road, for 25-30 minutes when you see your buck sneaking toward the cliff and trees that hide his bed. It's still raining. If you open the door to get out, the deer will see you and bolt before you can shoot. Do you risk it, or do you roll down the window and shoot?

Let's say you take the second option and are seen by a wildlife manager. He cites you for shooting from a motor vehicle.

Let's say you crawl over the transmission hump, and get out of the truck, lean over the hood and kill the buck. Again you're seen by a wildlife manager, who cites you for road hunting because although your truck was mostly off the road, your feet were not when you leaned over the hood.

I'm not sure your examples are in line with the OP. Shooting from the truck or from the road, even at the edge, is not good. However ticketing for driving to where you know a buck is, to cut the distance, shouldn't be a ticket able offense. As mentioned how far back in time during a hunt does that go. To an extreme it would be scouting.

  3. Don't worry about third party lens clarity. They have come a long ways since they first came on the market. As a professional photographer I have the sharpest lens I can find for the need at hand. In my bag are Nikons, a 12-24 Sigma, and a 17 55 Tokina. The Sigma and Tokina are there because the are every bit as sharp, or sharper, than the Nikon counterpart. In the case of the 12mm it also has less distortion. They are also build very well.

  4. Look at 419eater dot com. Those guys have fun messing with these low lives. Some funny stuff they get them to do. (419 is the criminal code they are breaking). Lots of them are from Nigeria and they use internet cafes which cost them money. The mindset is to use up there time chasing what they think is a big payout.

  5. SOLD

For sale 1990 Jeep XJ. Lifted 4.5 inches, locked front and rear, axles redone, transmission redone, new engine and most engine components, good AC, winch, optima yellow top, heavy front and rear bumpers, side rocker sliders, roof rack, extra lighting front and rear, CB, bla bla.

Awesome Jeep that has never given me problems. I have been building this jeep over the last 2 years. Have only put 5K on it in the last 2 years and since the engine. Only selling due to economic downturn and the tax man. I will sell this and my daily driver and buy a new vehicle to do both. This is an awesome hunt / fish / explore Jeep.

  6. Hi all. I'm riding the 109 mile tour de Tuscon cycling event this year. Great top off for hunting shape:) Anyone care to join me? I'm not fast or slow, just steady, at least till mile 80 when the pain starts.

Also I cheap beg for bucks... I am riding for a charity called Tu Nidito and a great kid named Max. Max's mom has cancer and Max goes to Tu Nidito for support and peers that have the same issues. Could you be an angel and help Max? Over 90% this charity raises goes to the cause. The whole short story and TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation page is here http://www.active.com/donate/rideforachild/tevisphotographic You'll have good karma on your hunts:)

  7. is this a joke?! are you people kidding? youre mad cause you got caught going 10+ mph over the speed limit?!?!? & now youve got to find a way to weasel out of it instead of being responsible for your actions. theres an easy solution, SLOW DOWN!! ten over, really? i dont see whats wrong w the things, put em everywhere. you dont like it? obey traffic laws!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is way I don't like them and won't pay a ticket from them... We were driving north on I-17 near Deer Valley for a weekend cruise. Saw the photo sign, saw the van, saw the speed limit sign right at the van that stated 65mph. Then the flash, then the ticket in the mail for doing 66 in a 55! WTF! The sign was right at the van stating 65! This is nothing but a money grab put in place by a governor who spent way to much money and created a financial crisis.

  8. Thanks for the replys. I wanted to try a flatter shooting lighter bullet for longer range trajectory.

My advice is use a range finder and forget about how laser like your trajectory is or isnt. Learn your drops and compensate accordingly. Bullets with higher BC's ussually drop a bit more due to a heavier weight and lower velocity, hence your quest for a lighter one. However higher BC bullets drift less in the wind even at the lower velocities. The wind is harder to figure than the drop. Drops are easy to overcome. Windage can make you look like a fool. It is better to have as many advantages as you can have for doping the wind.

If you want nothing more than a laser line trajectory cause it sounds cool, the 270 is the wrong choice to begin with. Use a flatter cartridge.

    Just my .02

Thanks for the info regarding windage. I switched to a boat tail from a corelock for less drop at 400 yds with the same grain. I know the range I can shoot, and the drop for given distances, and yes I do use a range finder and I practice. I was just curious what you guys were shooting. I haven't tried many different brands.
