    Acorns?

The best recipe that includes acorns: 1. Have a big-framed 3x3 eat them all year long 2. Let the acorns stew until Late Dec. 3. Harvest said Coues buck. 4. Enjoy a tenderloin steak over the campfire 3 miles from the truck.

Perfect set up for hunting back pack

It's amazing how many accessories are made obsolete by a good gun with a good scope. With that and a decent set of binos, you're pretty set up. Those are the first 3 things is get with the money. All the other things you should budget with the remaining amount. My $.02.

    Electric Skinner

Genius. You utilize the modified vice grips also! Great minds think alike! But, you know what happens to somebody who does it the smart way? You lose all that hardearned muscle tone in your biceps and forearms, you start forgetting all the useful knots for hanging a 'yote, and you avoid having that unmistakable aroma of a true predator caller.

    I got coues fever

Dude, you just wrote my story! 4 years ago, my wife asks her brothers to take me along hunting so we cam bond, get to know each other better. They lend me one of their old bows, I get a Jan javelin tag, and go shoot my first big game. 2 months later, my wife is asking her brother,"Please stop taking my husband hunting. He's obsessed!" ... and I still am!!

    Circles of hair

I saw the same thing last week!! Here's what I saw: Hiking with my 4 and 2 yr old boys in the willows near our cabin. Being in the vicinity of a 'fort' I made as a kid, I take my boys into the open area under an ancient willow tree, which is all surrounded by overgrown willows. So, well protected area free of growth, shaded, 100 yds from the Greer Highway. I lead my boys into the area, and immediately notice tons of hair in the grass on the off to the side of the opening. 4 or 5 ft square, Brownish hair, some in clumps. Immediately, I get concerned about my kids and pull them close while I survey the area. I notice another group of hair 4 feet from the first. A bush separating the 2 so definitely 2 different animals. Then, towards the opposite side of the clearing I se a third bunch of hair, with the remains of a young cow elk in the middle of it, maybe 15' from the others. Some may hypothesize that it was all from the same animal, but there was no 'trail' of hair as though the corpse had been dragged. Just 3 very separate circles of hair, with an young elk carcass in the middle of one of them. Theory 1- Mt. Lion Could a lion take down a 300-400 lb elk? Could it drag the carcass into this 'lair', assuming the elk wasn't killed in the immediate vicinity(50yds)? Would the lion bury the carcass even though it was hidden in this glade (nothing was buried)? Theory 2- Wolves Would wolves drag 3 different kills to the same spot? I would say that wolves don't generally drag their prey but the kills were close to the highway. Idk Theory 3- Poacher I doubt it but ... Do these circles of hair sound similar to what you found? The circumstances are a little different but let me know if you have ?s. Ill see if I can get some pictures.

    Ggrrr we are mad!!

I have found that a 3d camo suit is worth its weight in gold if you really don't want to be seen. Youre welcome to mine if you want it. Or throw some chicken scraps out there and blast the H out of them!

    Mysterious pics

I had the same problem w/ my Moultrie. Wouldnt come out of sleep mode. Thought it was the card size. Nope. The batteries. Nope. I called Moultrie who sent me info on troubleshooting. I'm going to try what they told me, send it back and use the year warranty, then never buy moultrie again. It's not worth the aggravation.

    antler growth

It's not common, but I have seen bucks add inches into September.

    antler growth

It's interesting though. I've seen some bucks, mostly Muleys, grow fast the first few months, and them taper off, while their buddies blossom in September and really put on time length. I'm not sure if its genetic, or environmental. Both early and late boomers were in the same general area so its hard to say if its diet or water availability, or just genes.
