2 Whitetail processed, warning picture heavy
AZ RANGER replied to cactusjack's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
Nice work. I like to process all my game myself too. I am Curious about the cooler with ice and salt. How long did you leave it in there? How much salt and does it make the meat real salty? Looks really good. -
Action Locked\Gunsmith Needed
AZ RANGER replied to mgorm16640's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I just had this happen to my son's .243 win. a couple days ago. We were shooting some really old factory rounds and i guess a round got over pressured somehow. I covered the action in oil and softly tapped it with a hammer. Opened right up. -
2 hits for $50 each. Pigs and turkeys for me and my son.

Great pack and a great price. I paid the same for one that was a lot more used than this one.

Rifle hunt during Dec archery hunt
AZ RANGER replied to northAZarcher's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I have had only one occasion where a rifle hunter took a shot at a buck I was stalking. I don't think either of us knew the other was there though. It Almost worked in my favor as the buck spooked from the shot and ran right past me. -
Wow congrats!

Really cool buck. Congrats on all your success.

Just finished packing everything. I'm planning on being on the road by 6am. Good luck to every one!

Have you tried buckling the two buckles together? One is male and one female so this can be done. I don't have it in front of me right now but I believe both buckles on the neck harness are female. The ones that go around your chest are male/female but not the neck straps. Also even if they were able to buckle together I think it would be pretty tight around your throat. Overall I like the harness but I need to customuze it to fix this problem.
-
^^ Same problem as above. Once you undo the two buckles the neck harness falls behind your back. You either have to be really flexible or take the harness off to put it back together.
-
I have the kuiu harness too and it is a total PIA every time you transfer from the harness to the tripod and back. I use 12's for handheld and tripod glassing so just one pair but I kinda miss the days of pulling the 15s out of the pack.

Does anyone use this head? http://www.amazon.com/Vanguard-PH-113V-Magnesium-Tripod-Video/dp/B007BYLMA0 I am about to order it, but thought I see if anyone has any feedback on it first. Thanks
-
Swivelhead I think you convinced to go another route. Thinking the 700rc2 now. Thanks again. Casey, I'm already working... or at least claiming 20 haha.
-
I am tempted to buy the outdoorsmans micro head but my son needs a new head right now too and that's just too much money.
-
Thanks for the info Swivelhead. I should have mentioned that I will only be using it for glassing with my 12x50 els. No video. Does it pan well enough to easily bump them with my nose while glassing in the cold?

Really cool. Thanks for taking us through your adventure.

Growing up I had a 1985 Honda 4trax 250 2wheel drive. Great quad. My dad still drives it. It got me anywhere I needed to go without problem and seemed to have plenty of power. I never saw a need for 4x4. Now I drive a Yamaha 700 4x4 at work. I find myself using 4x4 daily. Driving in deep sandy washes or steep hill climbs the 4x4 is great. I could make it in 2wd but with a lot more speed which is more dangerous. That being said if all you are doing is driving on dirt roads with the occasional obstacles, 2wd will be fine. But if you will be climbing a lot of nasty hills I would look at a 4x4
