Me and my buddy got a double on Fri. in 27. Birds were pretty vocal but the wind made it tough

The bass fishing has been good lately but it is not easy especially for young kids. Flipping plastics into heavey cover is the best bet. Crappie and redear sunfish has picked up lately as well, try worms on the bottom for the redear or small jigs or small crank baits for the crappie. The fishing is not going to be real fast paced though especially from a kids point of view. Dankworth Ponds has always been a good place for a kid to catch an easy fish, but last summer there was a fish kill because of aquatic vegitation blooms. We are in the process of draining, cleaning and restocking by the fall if all goes well. If you go to Roper ask for me when you go through the entrance and I will give the most recent info. I am the park manager. Scott

How many shots have you missed because you had buck fever??
AZ RANGER replied to tatumsdad08's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I've missed a lot more than I care to think about. But I've been on a role lately hope to keep it going. -
Has anyone else not received their refund check yet?

Did a little bass fishing this morning before going in to work. Only had about an hour or so to fish but I was able to land a couple of nice ones. Both fish were released. After fishing was over I stumbled upon this guy playing in the water. When I first saw him he was just at the edge of the water getting a drink, then he jumped in and started walking around. I have been luckey and seen many of these critters in my life, in fact this is the 2nd one in a week, but it is always a cool expierience.

Jim, Both fish were caught on a texas rigged 6" Roboworm in bold bluegill. I can relate to the seasonal fishing addiction. I have not been going near as much as I would like to though. Top water frogs (or any topwater baits for that matter) are so much fun to fish. Its hard not to get over excited and set the hook too early when they blow up on your bait. Anyone want to take a guess on the Lake I was fishing?

Holy crap, that was fun to watch, I just kept laughing while I was watching it, It was almost unbeliveable. I think I'll look into getting a meat hook like he used, that seemed pretty helpful.

Why do people have to come on and bash what others are asking in price??? If you don't like it then don't buy it. But you're just as well to not say anything at all. You can find it a bit lower in other places but not with a Harris bipod. +1

Guess the score contest - April 2011
AZ RANGER replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
133 3/8 Congrats to Mr. Ruiz! -
MInox, I love them but they are heavy

I was thinking of driving to Tucson or Phoenix to check out new bows,Tucson is closer but I did not see archery shops that sponsered the site. Now that I see they signed up as a sponser I definantly will be going to Bull Basin.

I have had the X1 for about 3 years now and I really like the pack a lot. I use the rifle scabbord for my tripod and it works perfectly. The only complaint I have is my torso is too long for the pack so the hip belt rides too high. Well built packs though.

Awesome story Amanda. Congrats on a great gobbler. We were camping up in Point of Pines a couple of weeks ago and saw a lot of turkeys. I had one Tom pretty worked up around camp as I was practicing my calling for my upcoming hunt in 27. Some great country up there.

My wingspan measures at 74" so by my calculations my DL should be about 29.5". I plan to buy a used bow online most likely, so I need the DL to be correct. My question is about the string loop and release. Should I go with a 29" and figure that the release and string loop will make up the rest? I think my current Matthews SQ2 is set at 30" but it has always seemed a bit long, I ve never hit my arm but the anchor point is a little off. Also will the DL vary from one bow manufacture to another? Thanks
-
Thanks Amanda, I did not notice the link when I was on my phone. Makes sence now.
-
Yes that is where I have been shopping, there are plenty to choose from. Thanks
-
Thanks for the replies, I hope to shoot some different bows before I buy, but the big bow shops are a long drive for me. I have shot the alphamax but the DL was set real short. I feel kinda of guilty having a bow shop set up a bow for me to shoot when I have don't plan to buy from them.

Already added a new pack. Badlands 4500 for overnighters, got some new boots in december meindle perfekt hunters, also picked up a new vortex scope. Still need to get some new rings. A new bow is next, and a new blind.

Leaning toward the Elite Hunter, but also thinking about Hoyt Maxxis or Alphamax. There are alot of good bows out there right now.

Trapping the Gila Valley.
AZ RANGER replied to AntlerObsession's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Here is the local sportsman club http://seazsc.org/ There is not a predator club that I am aware of, but I think they do a predator contest every year. Welcome to "the real" valley. I love it here. -
You had me going and I just talked to her yesterday and even asked how paul was doing...good one

Totally agree Mr. Quimby!! I waited almost 10 years before I drew my one and only archery bull elk tag in 2009. Here's the end result: A lot of guys gave me crap for "wasting" my tag on a spike. I couldn't care less what guys said. I hunted hard for a week and took the first bull that I had the opportunity to shoot. Plus, I got to spend a full week in elk camp with my dad. It was just him and me for the whole hunt and I couldn't have asked for a better hunting partner!!! That's awesome! I made some great memories with my dad on my first Archery Rut tag too, and we came home without a bull. 8 years later I finally drew another tag and got my bull. Had just as much fun on the first hunt though.
