Forgot to mention, I did run into a couple of guys that shot a decent buck near parker canyon lake on opening morning. I'd guess it was in the high 90's or better not to wide but tons of mass, good looking 4x4 with decent brows.

Hey 308nut, I'd be interested in that software as well if you don't mind. my email is vrmt_klr@hotmail.com Thanks -
I've got a 35a tag for the Nov 6th hunt, scouted a couple areas. Didn't see any bucks and only a few does, maybe i didn't look hard enough lol. I did see a lot of good sign though and plan to set up on a hill top with a good veiw of those spots. I'm not sure where you're hunting but i scouted around the canelo hills one day and didn't see to many people hunting and found a few spots with mineral and salt licks, i'll probably check those out from time to time. Lots of good looking country but again i haven't seen any bucks.

Awesome buck, that's a helluva score for a 3 pointer. Way to put the work in.

When was stationed in Colorado, a good buddy of mine and me went to southern colorado for elk season. He'd been wanting to go with me for a while and I'm from there I had some pretty good honey holes that I didn't mind sharing with an army buddy from TX. We'd been hunting in the high country for a few days and decided to head to my parents house for a shower and a good meal. When we were all rested up I told him i know where there's a rattle snake den a couple miles from the house and they should be denning up with the cooler fall weather and asked if he wanted to go check it out. Of course he didn't say no so off we went. Got there and he pulled out his shotgun and i was just armed with my walking stick and a really watchful eye. The den is about 200 yards from the road, he loaded up and I took the lead watching out for snakes. We got to the den and sure enough there was probably over 75 rattlers of all sizes, by this time he was pretty well shook up because he thought i was just BS'n about the snakes. We watched them for a few minutes and i was messing with a couple smaller ones with the walking stick and he decides it's time to go so he starts walking back to the pickup, when i yelled "Snake" and smack him on the leg with the stick. I've never seen anyone scream so loud, jump 5ft in the air, turn around and rack a round in the gun all in one motion. In hind sight though it might not have been a good idea to make a guy with a loaded gun think he just got bit by a snake because i was right behind him when he drew down on the snake that wasn't there. I still get a good laugh when ever we get together and talk about old times.

Wow, congrats to all of the sucessful hunters from the first rifle season. Reading some of the stories and looking at the pictures has got me pumped. I'll be hunting 35A for the first time and the first time chasing coues. I hope to put some the information you all have shared on this sight to good use. Again congrats to all those that were sucessful if you killed or not.

Just currious, did you notice any signs of over pressure? I just took a quick look at my lyman reloading manual and it shows max load for those components is 64.0 grains, your load is well over a grain above the max. I know there are a lot of recipes that are above max that shoot well and have been tested. Not sure if you reload or not, i just wanted to point this out to you in case you don't. For 64gr of IMR-4831 you should be around 2952 fps, not sure about 65.4 though, probably 3100 maybe, just a guess though...hope this helps you out.
