Thats a great bull! congratulations.

If you use ammonia based solvents DO NOT let it soak in the barrel. It is bad for it. Its good to run a dry patch when you are done and I like to run an oily patch through once complete. I don't know how bad the fowling is but there is always marks in the barrel once you shoot through it.

No I know you were not bashing cops. I didnt tell you the story about when I used a department 22 caliber to shoot a ferret and missed it seven times. Come to find out the scope wasnt sighted in. I became the brunt of jokes still to this day. Oh well the secrets out!

I have worked for several processors and there is alot of loss as they weigh it when you bring it in with the bone and then cut the bone out. Alot of it depends on the processor and how good they are. Some processors waste alot and that is unfortunate. I know Jeremy Browning here in Payson and he learned from the same guy I used to work with and you can clean alot of the bone and save alot as we were taught. The suet or beef fat added is usually a rough estimate and used to be included with the price. As far as aging it, I like to allow it to age a few days as it sometimes takes the game taste out of the meat. So I would say yes hang it for awhile if you can.

Monday morning quarter backing is easy. I beleive that is a pretty big town and the officer probably has never hunted before and has no clue what to do. Although one would think a head shot would work. The article is unclear as to the back drop or surroundings so who knows. Ive been lucky in my career as a cop and have been able to put most animals down with one shot.

Minox are leicas low end model and there great. Ross outdoors used to sell them. I bought the Swaro's and love them. It was hard to bite that bullet and spend the money. Give me a call I can get a good deal on Swaro's if you decide.

I agree with Amanda, its her hunt. What does she want? As for me, if it were my hunt I would take the 380. Heck those who know me know I'll settle for a 300. I like to shoot. Bottom line is, it's her hunt but a 380 is hard to pass up. If its symmetrical all the better.

Congrats on your first buck. Awesome job!

Camo on a gun has a CDI factor. "Chicks Dig It!" But it does look cool.

Its a good area to hunt. Ive hunted it the last two years and have a tag this year. Plan on being in shape and walking some fairly rough terrain. Good Luck with the hunt!

Would you pay someone to develop/reload for you
antlers replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
So many people claim to be reloaders. You just need to be careful that they actually know what their doing when it comes to reloading. -
25-06 first centerfire rifle?
antlers replied to Simple Hunter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I just purchased a 25-06 and like it. The kick is not too bad. Alot of guys are buying the Savage Youth model 7mm-08 with the muzzle brake and accu-trigger. They love the accuracy and even purchase them for their wives. Something to think about. It runs around $570.00. The ones without the muzzle brake are much cheaper. -
I put the sticker on the truck today. Thanks to Amanda for the stickers!!
