Who takes a picture of a head of a deer with some dudes boots showing? -
Does it matter? All of the southern units are awesome. This year it just happened to be 35B.

Good job

Awesome -
The bear must have been spooked from hunters as we were all sitting on a ridge glassing and over a ridge he came trotting right towards us all. He slowed to a fast walk and ended up about 150 yards in front of us just walking along. I got him to stop a couple times with a few grunts but he just kept cruising along. He was big - probably around 350-400 pounds and was a deep brown almost auburn color. One of the prettiest I've ever seen. It was great having newbie hunters also to experience that.

My goodness...I have to sit and work today...I think I'll look through every picture on Coues WT again...
-
Ha! Well anyone who's headed south in the next couple hours will see a silver Colorado and a white Jeep Cherokee sporting our CW stickers hauling butt towards 35B. Good luck to all.

Thanks Maximus - it's a Howa 270 wsm on a bedded Boyds Tacticool stock, timney trigger, and topped with a Vortex HS scope. It hits the target. Hang in there Lance!

My dad has a Howa 270 and the deer load of choice is a 130 gn ballistic tip in remington brass and primers with 53 gns of H414. Shoots about 3000 fps into nice clover prints.

260 rem vs 7mm-08 vs 243 vs ?

This is easy - get all 3 and call it a day -
Anyone know of anywhere local you can buy extra tripod base plates? In this case it's for a Vanguard. It's highway robbery out there on the net when you see them charging 7-10 bucks for shipping!
-
Yeah - tried there. No luck. Thanks for steering me where I needed though.

Great point Lance - Cabelas does make good stuff - a few extra coins gets you into the Meopta made Euroline which are really good.

For my eyes the Zenray ED3 easily beats all the mid priced Vortex line (vultures, vipers, talons) and I've looked through them all. In fact, besides being bigger (15x vs 10x) I think my ED3's give my bros Kaibabs a run for the money on clarity, resolution, and brightness. Do your research on bird watching forums and you'll see most people that actually use these things daily agree that the only complaints against Zen and the the ED's are from folks who are caught up on the "made in China" debate and frankly have never touched them. In the end though you need to test them out against each other outdoors and then decide what works for your eyes. Unfortunately nobody local carries Zen Rays but I would feel fine letting you look through mine up against those Vipers anytime - in fact come on down to 35B this weekend where I'll be looking for big bucks. You can help.

Got the spotter tonight - can't believe how good of glass this is for the Costco price. Thanks hoghntr for steering me that way.

Only the bow and ammo/bullets remain.
-
Ok - PM'd you
-
Rangefinder and Dies are spoken for/gone - everything else is still available.
-
Old thread but is the Rangefinder still available?

You go to me...I just bought the Alpen 788 from Costco.com...couldn't resist the price. Excited to see how it works out on my 35B hunt next weekend. I figure with my Zen-Ray 10x43's and my brothers 15x56 Kaibabs this should round out our optics package just right.
