    35B scouting

A great day scouting the unit - even though it was hot and windy we ended up finding 20 deer with 6 being bucks. 3 were above 70" + with one pushing 90". Much thanks to the guys who swapped info with me (you know who you are) to get me in on some good areas. I can't wait to give one a long distance dirt nap in a few weeks!

    .270wsm vs. .300wm

Redundant? I have both rifles and shooting what I feel is the ideal weighted bullet (140 gn), I could only safely muster up about 2950 fps out of the original 270. Now, with the wsm I can push the same bullet safely at 3150 fps. In shooting I don't think a +200 fps gain can be shrugged off as redundancy. But hey, to each their own. Happy shooting!

    .270wsm vs. .300wm

I'm 100% certain good ol' Jack O'Connor would have traded his trusty and favorite .270 for the .270 wsm and called it the new best round for North American big game (minus Moose and the big Bears) as well as African plains animals. It really is that good. I have never had problems cycling rounds and every animal I've shot with it (yotes, deer, elk) have dropped immediately, My current best round is a 140 gn (.496 bc) in front of magpro and fed 215's out of win brass. Shoots a tight 4 leaf clover print at 100 at close to 3200 fps. That round has proven itself to 1000 yards. I guess you could say I'm fond of it.

Help - not enough elevation - Vortex HST

We'll try it out - thanks guys
  8. Hey all - went out shooting with my bro. and here is his setup: Rem 700 300 wsm Vortex hst 6x24x50 Badger 20 moa rail (mounted correctly - back end is higher and rail slopes down towards front) Burris tactical rings - low height 180 gn Nosler Accubond 2" high at 3000 fps Scope should have 65 MOA of travel total which has been confirmed - over 260 clicks in total elevation travel First thing we noticed is the scope zeroed about 50 moa elevation (hoping it should be closer in the middle to 30-35) After zeroing we tried longer range and had enough elevation to hit 660 yards but that was max range - basically we only had about 10 moa elevation up after zeroing in. We have looked over this setup a ton of times - everything is set up correctly and tight. Are we dealing with a scope issue here? Anyone else have this type of problem before where the scope doesn't zero in the middle of the elevation range? For reference I have 270 wsm with a Vortex hs on it with no moa and only 50 moa of elevation travel and can get to a thousand yards with it. Thanks friends - Jon

Help - not enough elevation - Vortex HST

Interesting - called vortex and they are blaming it on Remington saying that they are notorious for having a lower back action and says it needs to be shimed/bedded with a rail or to use a 40 moa rail. Anyone buying this?

Help - not enough elevation - Vortex HST

Ideally yes - this scope zeroes too high and nothing we can do about it. Except send the pos back. Thanks for confirming my thoughts guys.

Coues 7. Affirmative - base is higher in the back and front objective leans slightly towards barrel.

Browning BPS Hunter - 12 Gauge

Thanks Little Creek...surprised it hasn't received any looks.
  19. $20 bucks or i'll just keep it. PM if interested.
  20. Short action - fits Howa and Weatherby Vanguard standard barrels. Some light scratches here and there (it's rubber coated so it's inevitable) and the very end of the stock channel needed to be slightly cut out/shaped so the barrel was free floating on the left side. Other than that it's in good shape and is a step up from a standard composite stock or if you want to keep your nice wood stock protected. $50 OBO PM or Text Jon - 602-284-3190
