    32 open roads

    The last time I was on the Rattel snake rd it wasn't in bad shape, execpt for the last 3 to 4 mile that goes to Powers hill. Thats a little rough if you have a Jeep or side by side you'll do fine still rough though. If I where to guess it would take you 5hrs + from Phoenix to get to the end of the Rd. Haven't been out there in a year or so. Use to take us about 3hrs + from Safford. Just trying to help you out let me know if you need any more info.

    unit #31 & #32 .....any info, would help!

    Hey I have a buddy that use to work for a rancher down in the Arivaipia canyon area punching cows around. I will talk with him and see if he has any good info and I will let you know. I do know that a lot of that area on the East side of Arivaipia is locked off by private but there are a few ranchers that will let you through if you talk with them.

    Who might be interested

    My best friends niece has been diagnosed with MDS and is going to need a bone marrow transplant. So he is considering raffleing off a elk hunt to help is brother out. Ticket would be around 50 bucks. This would be in Colorado most likely unit 61 or 62. Check out his website. Www.weimerhunting.com . Post your reply here and I will tell him what I .have come up with and I will keep you posted. This would be a bull elk hunt everything paid all you have to do is get to Colorado.

    All the money will go to helping his brother out. He may have to relocate out of state for 6 months to a year so their daughter can have the transplant

    private property

    I pretty sure that in CO that it's the Hunters responsibilty to know where they are. The land owner doesn't have to post there land as private. I like the laws here in AZ and respect private land, if I don't have premission or it not public I don't hunt it. Just my 2 cents

  21. Well not much of a story to post. This was the only 3 point deer that I saw all season. Saw a bunch of little deer and was willing to go with tag soup and let them grow up a bit. The one rough part of this hunt was the day I killed. So here are those details Woke up at 2:30 in the morning and left the house at 3:00. 3:45 had the brother-in law drop my Father-in law and I off for a 6 mile hike. 5:15 2.5 mile in and we where at the first glassing spot, wind was cranking and it was a little cold. 6:05 or right at first light glassed up a good black bear about a mile away, decided to move a little down the hill and get out of the wind. 6:45 at a new glassing spot out of the wind, there about 10 min and glass up 4 deer at a half mile away, can tell that 2 of them are shooters for the second to last day of the season. Way the opition on if we both go or just one of us goes for the 1/2 mile, decide I would go and father-in law would stay. 7:10 get down and find the deer at 380 yards, tell the father in law to get down to my postion as fast as he could and we could both try and get shots, 7:25 tell the father in law to hurry they are about to ridge out. He tell me Don't wait on me Shoot one. So I get a quick range on them 407 dail up the turret to 400 lay down of my pack and just wait for the deer to stop walking. 7:30 or so Deer finally stops walking my guess now is 440 yard, tell myself to hold top of his shoulder and let fly. See the deer go rolling down the hill about three times in the scope, said to my self quick get behind the Bino's and fallow that other buck. Watch the other buck ridge out just about the time the father in law get to me at about 550 yard. 8:00 or so get to the hill side where I shot the deer, get tho bush that he was under and start looking, no blood, start combing the hillside back and forth still nothing, finally find him 150 yards down the hill in a reveen still ALIVE what the heck i ask my self, about that time he jumps up and take off only shot i had was in the back of the head on the run at 50 yards DEER DOWN. First shot just grazed his back and barrely broke it he could have gone a long ways. Any way get hime quartered up and start the pack out 3 mile at 11:00 get to where the Brother in law was picking us up at 1:00. Long day but worth it that is the second buck I have taken out of there and the third buck my family has taken out of there one 92" and one 71" two point. He not a gaint but he is meat in the freezer. He scores right at 82" Forgot to tell you saw another bear that came out of the same draw the deer was in and got a picture of him at about 450 yards anthoer good bear. So yes 2 bears in one day no tag and the unit was closed anyway. Sorry for the long story but this is the first long one I have posted. Enjoy the Pictures.

    Fire in 24B

    I will put my 2 cents in since i work for the forest service in Globe. To all my fellow firefighters that work for the forest service and are members of coueswhitetail. We are going to be damed if we do and damed if we don't. So don't get hung up on all these folks that have no idea what political BS that we have to go through to do our job. If people had an understanding of how fire works on the landscape, they would notice that there has been no HUGE BLACK SMOKE COLUMN coming up of the Frio fire. All the smoke has been white, witch indicates a ground a ground fire. So to all of you that have issues with the way the Forest Service deals with fires, go and talk with your congressmen and get all the enviornmentalist off our back, so we can get some thinning and some prescribed burning and we will not have catistrofic wildfires like the Wallow. If any of you that think that you could do a better job at fighting fires and want to see what BS we have to deal with, go to any forest service office and they will give you the web site you can apply for a job. My guess is that most of you couldn't handle what we do. Just my 2 cents
  24. Got out for the first time scouting yesterday and Saw 9 bucks, 7 in a bacholor herd took a few pictures through the spotting scope Enjoy!
  25. Its definitely been a rougher year for deer in 31 and 32 no moisture this winter but I think things will be a little better now that the rain has come all the deer I saw the other day looked really good considering the summer I think its just the way the deer is standing
