Now that is cool right there!

Ya, having my daughter there was special. she loves hunting and the outdoors so much.she shoots her bow alot and getting ready for the archery deer hunts. I've talked with her about putting in for bears next year. but she's a little afraid. so we'll see. If she does i will be right there with her. Just need to get her confidence up. I really appreciate all the comments! The color of the bear is almost the same color as my kodiak brown bear passed down from grandfather, so it willj look good together.

Thats a nice bear. I love the colors. Not too many people pass on bears in this state. You get a chance at a bear you take your shot. As long as your happy. Alot of people say they pass or would pass are full of it. Good luck!

Our cards got hit. My buddy and i drew late nov and my wife drew a dec tag. Dont know which unit she drew yet. It's dec either way. so pumped up for her. goog luck everyone!

Maybe put some salt out aways from water but close enough that the animals coming to the water will hit your salt. Off of a game trail or just where someone may not stumble into them. Thats my plan for elk this year anyways. It's a shame we have to worry so much about it. Goodluck!

Thanks for the comments guys. I was sitting a ground blind this particular morning. Cole i had a 34a tag this year.

2012 Spring Bear sucess on big bears!

Man that is a pretty colored bear. Congrats young man! -
Dude! that is awesome!

Just wondering how they are? Are they tough to cut? Are they as reliable as reliable can be? Do you use them or would you use them? Let me know your thoughts.I'm thinking about using them instead of chains.

The tail looks coyote to me. There are coyotes that go through some crazy color phases. Here in Vail i have seen a number of black coyotes. And they are coyotes for sure.Never been in a position to get one.If that is a coyote that would be a very nice hide to harvest.

Think bolting them to a tree is a good idea. like you said make them work a little harder for them. And Coach those are some great boxes! I really like how you use storage locker locks and conceal the bar on the lock so it cant be cut.

I hear you guys! I figure if someone wants them bad enough they'll get em. I too was thinking as just a deturent. I never put them directly on water and always try to put them somewhere someone wont be. That's getting harder to do everyday as someone seems to always stumble onto your stuff. I have never had a cam locked up yet and have not had any stolen as of yet. I'm sure my turn is coming.I have heard of people cutting down the trees to get cams. I agree we shouldn't have to do any locking up. People should leave well alone.

You can drive forever in that unit. I just started driving their the last few weekends. May want to take an xtra 5 gallons of gas with you as well. It's amazing how far i went and still could not drive to some of the places i wanted to scout. I will be carrying xtra gas myself. I was seeing antelope everywhere. When i say everywhere i mean everywhere. These guys are right the wear and tear on your vehicle is alot. Better have an xtra tire or 2 as well just in case. Alot of sharp rocks.

Theres some nice bulls there. I drew that unit in 2009. I didn't know the unit either but i went up drove roads and started scouting and i ended up taking a 331 bull on the 8th day. Thats when bulls started talking that year. Pressure is hit or miss like anywhere.I wouldnt worry about comments like i don't know why people put in for units they've never been in. I've never been to wyoming so maybe i shouldnt ever hunt there. Those kind of comments are ridiculous. Start with a forest service map. it's a nice detailed map and will get you started. Also go to azgfd hunt unit reports and read their info as well.

I still use the garmin emap. it's been discontiued for awhile but i still love it. I just ordered the oregon 450. should be here this week. I didnt do the 450t as reviews were not the best with the preloaded maps not having trails and other things.I am gonna get the south west 24 topo. there are also other sites that you can download free maps to your gps as well. All around garmin makes several good units. just look up reviews on specific units and that should help you narrow it down. As with any reviews there are positives and negatives.Just need to sort out what what matters to you. I hope i made the right choice. And for ahile i will carry both till i know the 450 is sound and reliable.

SirRoyal i appreciate the info. Already decided to scout the way Jim says. Our goals are definately realistic. It's her tag and her decision when to shoot. I figure what ever tickles her fancy and she will be happy. Thats all that matters.I just want her to have fun.Of course we all hope there is a 400 bull in our future. I had a archery bull tag in 9 a few years ago. When i 1st got notified i drew that tag i set my goal real high. by the 8th day i had to do a reality check and decided i put to much pressure on myself. All of a sudden i was having fun and didn't matter anymore. I ended up doin pretty good.Gonna go see the unit next week and start learnin. Good luck to your buddy!

Hi Jim, I was wondering after reading your post how you feel about the pressure during the early rifle hunt? There are 75 permits and the unit is so large. I have never been in 10 myself but i had an archery bull tag in 9 in 2008. Their was 75 permits in that hunt and it felt like i was in New York city. Their were people hunting and scouting for the up coming rifle hunt. Even though we will be in the rifle hunt, i was wondering if i should expect the same. I have to admit i am pretty fired up for her after watching your videos. Thanks, Sean

I got mine on amazon. but azgfd has them at their main office. you can print out an order form from azgfd.com as well and mail it in.

I use Jerry's Taxidermy. He is very good and very reasonable. He's located in Tucson but has a place in J 6. Looks like your in Siera vista. He does his work in both locations and will most likely meet you at his place in J 6 to keep it convienient for you.
