    road hunters

Funny part about these discussions is that in AZ not all roads, count as roads when pertaining to the regulation. Road is a marked road that is known by the forest department. Lots of Arizonas roads aren't really even roads. They are unmarked off road trails. The key is. You can't use the vehicle to hunt from (according to regs), like rest your gun on it or shoot from inside. My problem is that everyone in the history of the world hunted from something? They used to hunt from horses? Then from Model T's, then from three wheelers, probably tanks in ww2. Whats the big deal? Its was just a different style. The rule is that you must be one step off a road, not shooting over a road. Thats all.I have friends that are older and they just can't climb every hill for 5 days any more. Don't act like you never wanted to just get in the truck and drive for a little while after 2 or 3 days of climbing all over.....hahahahahaha Shut your lib has some good points, just hunt and enjoy. Everybody out in the woods is the same demographic, lots of things in common. I hunt all kinds of ways, mostly hike and glass, but I love it when I see some nice deer from my binos in the heat of the truck!!!!!!

    Desert Muley rut

I've seen a big buck chasing 6 or so does at about 3600 feet just outside the valley. Looks like some of these does are getting fired up. I could smell them from 150 yards.

    First Buck for a Friend

Seems I get the best animals for everybody but myself.
  16. Guided a friend of mine from church on his first hunt. He ended up killing this awesome buck. Wanted to share and see if you guys would make some guesses on size. I was hoping it to be over a hundred, pretty sure it is but want some opinions. (Might have it taped later) Anyways, We hunted down south for a total of two days. Saw what I'm pretty sure was this buck next to the road day before the opener at 10:30 P.M. on our way to make camp back up in the mountains. I was excited to see something large in the area for my buddy. We hunted east of the location hoping to see him where he was headed or another deer. Nothing turned up so we went back and glassed the area near where he was (about 1500 yards south of our camp). Found a small buck moving quick but couldn't close the distance we needed before he was gone. Next morning we went back and right away my friend spotted a buck. He was at 163 yds. I set my friend up and the deer moved behind some trees. While looking for the deer I found this buck and gave him a choice to wait, he decided to wait for him to give a shot. He shot through a 20 inch window and crushed him quartering towards and slightly turned right. It knocked him silly taking out his front shoulder and double lunging him. The guy made a great shot and held position for 30 minutes while I kept telling him stay on it, he's gonna get up....hahaha. Great hunt and He packed the meat out so it was easy on me...... Check it out. And yes thats my super combo camo.......lol

    Unit 30A sucks!

I give you props for hiking your butt off. But I used to do that and now I let the binos do the work. When I used to hike all I would see was tail ends flicking and running. I watch hunters from up high now as they hike around pushing the deer. Good Luck

    2012 Arizona Desert Bear

Awesome job man!! Looks like he was a little lower elevation. Probably was super hot!!!
  21. Killed this bear opening day in August. Had four tags in my pocket(deer, turkey, bear, lion). Heard a near by turkey in the morning but it came down to the excitement of shooting my first archery bear just before dusk. Didn't see any deer, but I was only there one day.....lol He dropped faster then anything I've ever shot. Thanks to be to God. Did some calling two weeks ago and only saw foxes. Looking forward to Dec. Archery deer and taking a friend on a Nov. Coues hunt.

    Smaller Archery Bear

I think its still gonna make a nice rug. Should be 4-5 feet and he had a nice coat. Think it was around 160 or so pounds.

    Unit 27

Hey guys! It was the youth Mule deer hunt. The kids took anything they saw. The bears were lower and it ended up good for the young guys. Soooooo, they probably waxed some nice Muley's too! If I were in the shoes of these dads I'd probably tell my kid to shoot to. I was hopeing for the bear to open on my 27 mule deer hunt but got the scoop from locals. Later!
