Going to try and kill a big bear this weekend close to home, but will be heading to 27 for the Nov mule deer hunt later. Want to know if anyone minds pm'ing me some glassing areas in 27 after the burn. Was thinking maybe from 54 road down towards eagle creek or from crow poison area down towards blue. Not looking for anyones secret spot just a few good road numbers for after the fire. I have some 15x56's and a good set of legs and gps. Any ideas from people that have been up there recently would be awesome. Talk to a guy who missed a big one in August in burn area and I saw nothing decent in Juan miller during the same archery hunt. hahaha But I got a rifle tag now!!! Thanks!!!

Went back to my spot,,,,,,no bear. Fresh sign though and their all over in there. I'm gonna shelf this till next fall or spring and try to focus on my deer hunt. I appreciate the help everyone and when I get one I'll post the pics in this thread. Just a matter of time.

Going to use my Foxpro fx3 this fall to try and call a bear, going to 23 and wondered if anyone had a tip on which call to use. I have: mule deer fawn in distress fawn in distress (probably midwest whitail) Fawn bawl (same) Calf in distress Calf scream Elk calf in distress I'm thinking mule deer because of the time of year, or maybe calf. Anyone know if free range cattle could have calves right now or is this wrong time? Thanks

Thats funny I glassed that area for hours. just wrong place wrong time. I'll keep it in mind though. Guess my first few days just discouraged me down juan miller.

When I use both eyes it moves the point of aim in my scope to the other eye. I would try to close you eye.

If you don't have a lot of money, cabelas has a cheap one that is like 50 bucks, holds rifle or bow. I like to have my rifle or bow in my hand or over my shoulder when packing so I use a back packing pack for overnight. I use the cabelas one when I'm needing a day pack to hold a rifle for tough climbs or to hoist into stand when i use my bow. its cheap but really nice for the price. They also have the eberlestock one that is a real small pack with a gun scabbard. Cheap=cabelas Moderate=small eberlestock Expensive=full size any of them, they are all like 250+

I added a few more sounds to my caller, I'm gonna add lighting jack and then hit at least 4 stands. I think its gonna come down to the right sound at the right time. LOL A guy once told me on a hunt: "theres bull elk all over,,,,just not right here,,,right now." I use that one all the time now....

Thats a great story and AWESOME BUCK! I love those broadheads, always have big rips from those things. Some just don't believe after all those junk mechanicals they used to make. SLIPCAM is differen't!
