    GPS?

I have the Garmin Etrex, the yellow one, and it does what I need it to do. I really only use it when I'm in flat country (elk hunting around Flag, can't see landmarks) or when I'm somewhere new to me. I sure wish I could use it to mark where my archery deer or elk was found, but I haven't had that opportunity, yet.
  2. OK, I'm not a morning person, so when it comes to hunting season I pretty much roll out bed as late as I possibly can. So usually this means that breakfast usually isn't an option. But, I realize that I need to eat so what do you do for breakfast? I'm just curious since most "quick" breakfast options (cereal bars, etc.) are usually carbs and I'm hungry within an hour after eating them. Just trying to get more out of myself to make my hunt more enjoyable. Thanks

    Breakfast

Thanks for all the suggestions. Bullwidegon - I think that breakfast might actually cost me some glassing time looking for a bush to hide behind an hour later. As far as the eggs/bacon, etc., we do that when we go fishing, and use to when I was younger. Now, though it really makes me sluggish (I think it is from the hardening of the arteries) for the entire morning. Plus, my wife would look me in the face and just laugh at me, besides she doesn't go with me on my hunts.

    Camo COlors???

I like any camo color that has a lighter shade. I have some of the Cabela's open country and Kings Desert Shadow that I like. As long as feel confident, I like it. I just remember watching my brother walk across a hill in 33 in some Mossy Oak stuff and he looked like a black blob.

    Arrow Fletching

I'm trying to fletch my own arrows and I'm having some problems. I'm practicing on some old arrows and at first I tried some wraps. I let them dry for a full day and then I was able to just pull the fletching off. So I tried without a wrap, and same thing. I'm cleaning my arrows with 91% isopropyl alcohol, should I try something else? I'm using Fletch-Tite Platinum or should I use something else? Should I run a small amount of adhesive down the sides of each fletch after they are glued to the shaft? Sorry for all the questions, its just another frustration I'm having while waiting for the draw results... Thanks
  6. RR, Sweet pictures...reminds of my days living of off E. Mohawk behind the fire station off of Lake Mary Rd. We use to be able to sit on our back porch and listen to the elk bugle. Thanks for bringing back some memories. Matt

    UNIT 32 UP-DATE

BC, I drew that same tag and I'm planning on heading down there some time in the next month. If you don't hear anything I'll give you an update. I haven't hunted down there in 3 years, usually up near Klondyke, but I was going to check out the Deer Creek area on my trip.

    No CC hits, %$#@

Hey, what do you think this means...I just reviewed my application online and there is now an authorization number on the top. This is new...could be that I still have hope...

    Arrow Fletching

bowhunter... Those are just some of my "practice" arrows and that is actually the "other" end of some old arrows. I'm still practicing. I'm still trying to decide on a new arrow. Standman... I definitely will have to try that. Looks pretty simple. I guess I'll have to sacrifice some more of my older arrows.

    Arrow Fletching

    So what do you think...

    Arrow Fletching

Thanks for the advice. The 2nd batch is holding up pretty good. I think I wasn't using enough glue...I like the wraps, only because they look cool, but if they don't work then I won't use them. I'll try sanding the shafts a little bit and see what that does. Thanks again! That's why I like this site.

    AZ CREDIT CARD HITS

I still haven't seen anything on my card. I'm hoping stuff is still happening. If not this would be the first that I have not been drawn for deer. All I put in for is November coues hunts, occassional December hunt with Nov 2nd choice...I know I've been lucky, but knock on wood the streak doesn't end this year. I thought this new system was supposed to increase opportunity, if it stays like this I like the old system.

    The good ol' days.....

I was thinking about those days just this morning....

    Arrow Fletching

I'm trying a 2nd batch right now. I'm using Blazer vanes and the package says they don't need to be prepped. I tried one with a wrap and one w/o. I also added a bead of adhesive on the front and back of each fletch and along the edges. I think the first batch I didn't use enough adhesive. When I pulled them off, only about 1/2 of edge fletch had glue (and it was spotty). I used a little more this time. I'm using old arrows that are broken, etc. so its not like I'm ruining a dozen of new ones. Thanks guys for the help. I'm trying to keep my thoughts on something other than the draw right now...
  15. Seeing people getting CC hits is only making the wait for the draw even longer...My company hasn't updated my account for a couple of days and I have used the card, so I know there should be something there. I would rather wait for just the draw results. This only gave me one more website to check every 10 minutes...I know I could just call them, but I don't want to yell at the person on the other end if nothing is there Congrats to those who know they got drawn...

    AZ CREDIT CARD HITS

Man this bites, I have been checking my CC and nothing is showing up. It doesn't show anything since the 17th and I used my card yesterday, to buy gas, and that hasn't even shown up. I just want to see something...it's my birthday...come on at least some kind of tag....

    Draw Results

This is why I went and bought stuff to fletch some arrows with today. It'll keep me busy for a while, but when I run out of arrows I don't know what I'll do...My wife got me a new target for my birthday (the 20th) but I can't have until then so now what....

    pro shop

.25-06, Thanks. Isn't that the old Archery Center. I remember the owner telling me that he was closing down and that there was something about going into business with his neighbor (Saguaro bait/tackle). If they are still there then that is great since that is where I usually get my arrows from. Thanks Dodger/Matt

    pro shop

I know this is kinda off the topic, but besides PSE are there any other shops here in Tucson where I can get some arrow shafts. Is Robinson's still open? I live on the far west side so its a pretty good hike to get there for me, its almost easier and quicker to drive up to Phoenix. I went Sportsmans but all they have are the CX Maxima shafts ($120), a little to rich for my blood. Thanks.

    Gunsmith in Tucson

I'm no expert on gunsmiths here in Tucson and I can't suggest one over another. However, my brother called Murphy's to get a new recoil pad put on his .300 and they said it would take 2 weeks. I have no idea how long it would take for a muzzle break.

    Draw Results

Yep, I had a dream last night that I was on my archery bull hunt and then I saw this post today and got excited. Hurried home after my class (getting my master's degree) and nothing...not cool...

    SUNSETS pics...

Nice pics...I only have one sunset pick and it is from the White Mtns. right before a thunderstorm rolled in from the east...
  23. Wow! Sounds like you had a great time and found an amazing lady. Congrats!

    My sickness

I was "lucky" since I was already "sick" when I met my wife and she knew that the sickness was part of the package. After 12 years, I think she is finally accepting the fact that it isn't going to go away and she actually suggested to me that I should try to go on some hunts out of state. Needless, to say I almost fainted with disbelief. When I found out I got drawn for my Wyoming antelope hunt, she wasn't thrilled since she figured great, "there goes another $300-$400 for taxidermy". Just make sure you make time for her and the family and take an interest in her interests.

    The Results

Well...if we are talking birthdays, I'm hoping the 20th. I already have an antelope tag in WY, so I'm hoping for an archery bull tag and a coues tag, but I'll guess the 25th, just because...
