  1. I just heard today that coues rut tags January are $2,080.00 if drawn. That it was a typo. Tribe now charges 4% tax on all sales which explains the $80. The staff is at a show and will make the changes upon return. I would call the dept. to make sure of course 2moro. Hope this helps. Wouldn't make sense if just the coues rate went up and not the rest of big game tags.

  2. Here are some photos of couple coues taken on the San Carlos Rez earlier this month. It was another great year starting with both Brad and John shooting bucks over 110 at 400 yards a piece. I had a great time hunting and spent numerous days out in the field. Also attached are some bucks that didn't feel the lead this year and will be on the hit list next year. God Bless you hard core coues hunters this 2015 year and stay safe.

  3. Basin Fire is out.... It did jump the road and burned about 1,000 more, but no harm was done... if you ask me... its the hunting place to be this coming year. Good sheds in there... presently the Skunk fire (SKunk CAnyon) UNit B near ash creek just ripped to 1,500 acres and burning all the tall grass.... Welcome back coues after its done... our crew is jumping on this fire maybe 2moro....no homes or timber are threatened...

  4. A coues buck looking away always seems bigger.... so my guess would be 105-108 gross respectively.... hes got great mass, but is not very wide.... when a coues buck doesn't have a wide spread, it makes the main beams seem longer as well.... I sure wouldn't pass on a buck like that... looks like a real healthy buck.... he will be 7-10 inches bigger in 2014... hope you get him

  5. I to believe water plays a huge role in antler growth especially critical months from late March into early June. I think a late winter helps with the feed and vegetation as well...like getting snow in February or early March... I have googled and searched a lot on this topic, I know one of the outfiiters that sponsor this site do have a lil intell on predicted conditions for 2014..... NOW... I really extremely want to know how drought conditions affect horn growth on COUES.... I have heard many different aspects on this subject but cannot seem to find a narrative or publication that any survey has been conducted as far as coues deer in drought conditions... I know they are extremely adaptable to harsh hot conditions etc, but targeting the antler growth is what concerns me...if anyone knows any info would be appreciated

  6. I spent all my life on the San Carlos Rez.... but went to school in Globe/Miami... and I have to admit.... the people are a bunch of great folks to be around.... once you befriend someone there, you will fit right in with your family.....I know there are a lot of coueswhitetail members in town and hunting and fishing is second language to many there... the food is always awesome, and the opportunity to get out in the outdoors is easy. I hope Globe suites you well, cause it has for me over the years. God Bless

I am fortunate enough to be in charge of this Type 1 Hotshot Crew and we are available as a NAtional Resource... I don't think we could ever capture enough of what really goes on on the fireline.... but with a Go Pro its close as we can get...hope you all enjoy... fire season is just around the corner... be safe to all who hit the outdoors...and God Bless

  8. I drew the second hunt last year as a tribal member. Honestly the rut doesn't really kick in till sept 5-7th. My step boy had the first hunt and didn't hunt till the 12th when it really was good. A lot of 280-330 class bulls. I did see couple 340-350 class bulls and the occasional big bull that isn't common. I never hunted up high on the far northeast side. I've hunted this unit 5 times and biggest bull being 380 archery. It's not a trophy unit so getting on a 320 or better is respectable. What worries me is this drought. When there is a drought year that's when we rely on genetics to carry over. Hopefully u will have a good hunt. Any additional info. You can Pm me.

  9. Attached are some photos of some Javelina from SC. Had a really good time helping some hunters from Washington and was able to find time to shoot a pig for myself. First hunter shot his with rifle at 130 yards. 2nd hunter shot his with pistol at 60 yards and mine at 25 yards.
