Got choice #1 My 270 & I will be hunting Coues in October
-
The other thing i highly recommend is shooting the longest distance first. Better to shoot long before you're tired plus when you finish at 20 yards you will have more confidence because your groups finishing at 20 will be tighter than say 60 yards with fatigue.

I drew a couple tags this year but also planned accordingly by applying for hunts with high draw odds. I just plain old lucked out with the early bull tag vs the cow muzzle loader I thought I'd draw

your guy as the rest of us, maybe more guy than some. Don't think the gender matters on the list lol. "Good people selling list" from now on. And we'll call them folks that put out our fires "fire people" too. That's funny I was reading the thread and did see my name mentioned so I threw out the possibility with a totally smiling face that it was gender related.

Was I left off the list since I'm not a good "guy?" :)

Congratulations on your new addition to the family She's beautiful!

As you know I cheated a little Lark...lol. I've never been there but I'm good at guessing. Very cool find I wonder who put it there originally and how many people have seen it since.

Hmmm im guessing eastern az about 40 miles north of a town that starts with a C...

I can't wait to see a pic of your little girl out "hunting" with mom and dad in her camos It was very nice finally meeting you and AMAZING the intel we shared on some mighty fine bucks who share some good genes!

I saw antler tips behind some oaks and copped a squat next to a pine tree. I don't have a range finder anymore but my guess was 40ish yards. Close enough to make me shake...lol. I love it

Muscle memory is everything. It sounds like you are shooting a good amount. I would concentrate on your groups. Don't worry about changing your sight until your groups are consistent for days at a time. If you are grouping good consistently, then your form is consistent also. Practice outside in mountains/trees is very important. Use a judo and shoot stumps or take a target and move it around. I don't think I've ever shot my bow at an animal on flat ground except a coyote in my own yard. All shots in the field for me have angles and obstacles.

Plain sucks people like to take what others work hard for. I don't use trail cameras anymore and theft is one of my main reasons. Just not worth it for me.

Some ticks can go 2 years without a host during certain life stages. Yuck. Just to clarify the tick that bit me and Paul carries Rickettsia parkeri. It is similar but different than RMSF. Paul is the first known case in AZ with Rickettsia parkeri and I'm being researched by the dept of Health/CDC as a potential case #2. They will draw blood again in a couple weeks to test the levels. They are trying to find out more about this and they will ultimately tell me whether or not I was infected. I've heard of 2 border patrol agents bit by ticks this last week. I worry for BP as they are out there all the time. I'm feeling fine now and i'm taking the doxycycline til it's gone.

Since people are active harvesting down south, I am going to throw out a reminder that there are ticks down south and a lot of them. I was bit and I was told to watch for a fever. I was in an area near where Paul (Amanda's husband) was infected last July. If you are bit by a tick and you get sick with a fever within 2 weeks of the bite you must be treated with the antibiotic doxycycline. I woke up sick this morning and have a very slight fever so I'm heading to urgent care to get my prescription. I'm not messing around with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Amanda collected the ticks that bit Paul & I this trip. Here's what the one that bit me looks like.

I dont set out to break the rules but if a large area is now closed I'm going to continue to use the road forest service improved just last year. Makes no sense to me at all. Keep off this road they say but here let us bring in the heavy equipment to improve it but stay off.

36B outside of Rio Rico somewhere. So many miles of dirt roads and hiking...lol. It seems they like the bottom of canyons where it's moist but I'm no tick expert. I asked once and she said 3000 feet but I think that was when we were out of the canyons. We tick checked 50 times a day at least. My bite was at the bottom of my hairline in back below by my baseball cap. Paul's was in his beard this time. Edit: it was 36b

The likelihood is looking higher that I may be infected. I was sick for a couple days with a low-grade fever and now these small spots. I'm on doxycycline 100 MG twice a day which covers it. Amblyomma triste (neotropical tick) is what bit Paul and I. It carries Rickettsia parkeri DEET is in order without a doubt next time I go. I highly recommend it. I know way too much about ticks now

Last year I had some young bulls bugling in july.

My cc was hit It's gonna be a GREAT fall hunting season for me and it's definitely time for this girl to start filling the freezer!

Just out of curiosity, how far were the Javi you were glassing? My answer is far.
-
Oh yeah if you go to outdoorsman they will let you go outside and try the binos side by side. I went with 10x50 vs 12 after doing this. At javi camp I had my 10x50 on a tripod next to 15s. I could pick up the pigs better in mine because of the larger field of view. I could see the pigs dang near as clear in mine as the 15s too.
-
I've got swaro 10x50EL. I love them. Looks like they are a bit cheaper than when I got mine a few years ago. I feel your pain as I bit the bullet yesterday on the item you and I discussed. Good glass is very important.

I'm very sorry.
