    2008 Father/Son Success

A huge congrats to Christian and his dad. There is not another human being more deserving of a 100" buck than Christian. He and his dad worked their butts off for these bucks. Those are some incredible bucks for some incredible coues hunters. Congrats again to you and your dad.

    Daughter's first deer!!!

That is so awesome. I can't wait to experience that with my little huntin partner. You are a lucky man to share that with your daughter. Congrats again!

    Loading Barnes bullets

I totally agree, I think the best way to figure out what bullet works well in your gun is to try it out on your own targets and on your own game. Seems everyone gets different results so figuring out your own is probably the best way.

    Mogollon Taxidermy

I have a bunch animals in my house from Clay. He is the only taxidermist I use and I don't ever plan on changing. He is a great guy, does great work and works really hard at it. You won't find a better taxidermist in my opinion. I love going to his shop and look at all of the bad a@# coues and carp mounts. He mounted my biggest coues for me. I gave him a picture of the buck from a spotting scope picture just before I took him. He matched the photo perfect with one ear kicked back and the pose is exactly the same.
  9. I need the Max. COAL for the 270 WSM 150 Berger VLD's. Anyone please.

    Big 2 Point!

Definetly in the low to mid 80's. My dad has a buck that is just as wide and goes 17.5". Very thick buck with hardly any tine link and is a 3x3, almost identical except a 3X3 and more mass scores 99". I am with Christain all the way 82".

    Need a Max COAL

Yes every rifle varies but usually all manuals and bullets have a baseline Max. C.O.A.L. I need a starting point.

    Archery Boot Help...

The best rubber boots you can buy are Muck boots. I use them when I hunt out east and snowy weather. They are very comfy and warm you would actually would be surprised at how well they are for short hikes and stuff.

    Tag for sale!

I have a tag that I cannot use. I have already put a deposit on it and I will give you the deposit. It will cost $1,150 for the tag and lodging. The only thing else you have to pay for is the gun permit. Scoutem hunted this ranch last year. It is 60 miles south of Sassabee. I will give you an email to the guy in charge of the hunts. I will get you all the info. Anyone else interested let me know. Here is a link to a hunt from last year on the ranch. Not a real high density but really good bucks. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...?showtopic=8141 The hunt is for the second week in January. I can get you photos of the ranch and some deer killed there. The reason I am not going is because my generous father signed over his R100 tag on the San Carlos and I can not pass it up.

    Laser Rangefinding Binoculars

To each his own. I like mine and have not had any difficulty ranging anything close or over 1100 yards. Bow or rifle this is all I need.

    Tag for sale!

My hunt will be confined from Dec 31- Jan 4th. And maybe a couple days 8th-10th if I have too. So you should have plenty of time to get down to Mexico. Besides I am going to kill a 120" buck on New Years day. So you will have great video and have plenty of time.

    Laser Rangefinding Binoculars

I think it is about the same or cheaper than buying 10X42 leicas and a 1200 leica rangefinder. But that is a lot to spend for one item. I had to sell two rangefinders and two pari of binos to buy mine.

    Laser Rangefinding Binoculars

I have the Leicas and they are awesome. They are awesome 10X42's and very little extra weight to add an awesome rangefinder.

    Long Range Shooting

My hunting set up is a 7MM Dakota 168 grain Berger VLD @ 2,900 fps. I use 72 grains of Hogden Retumbo powder and Federal 215 primers. I have a Leupold Mark 4 with Kenton turrets on it. I would take my set up to hunt any North American Game animal. Watching the show Best of the West got me interested in the Bergers. Those boys have taken tons of the toughest game in North America with a regular 7MM with 168 VLD. I have not been let down yet.

    taxidermy

Clay does almost all of my work too and you may just be acustomed to his great work. I went to Colorado last year and had a muley mounted and thought it was crap when I got it, but I gave it a while and now it hangs above the fire place at the cabin. It was no where near as good as clay but it still looks pretty good.
