Over the counter archery deer tag gone?
dave replied to bowsniper's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Bobbyo, Sorry to see you have gone the wrong direction. No worries, hopefully you will come back to your senses once again. The years we had all of southern Arizona whitetail as one unit was the most destructive mismanaged brain fart ever invented. Before we start managing game from the draw, we first have to manage the draw. If you all remember what just happened to archers by the Commission adopting the new way to look at the pie allocation, archers lost big time on elk allocations. This is the problem I see, they only count the first choice on the application as demand in the draw. So, if we go to a draw for archery deer (which I support) and all you folks put in first choice for rifle, the tags will be allocated based upon this current practice. Both the first two choices should be counted as the demand. Managing animals unit by unit is the best way to control and manage animals. The problem besides drought is that the numbers of animals the department surveys is skewed and not accurate. It is based on how much revenue they want to achieve. Why do you think the Department does not want mandatory reporting for all weapon types for all species? I think we should have only one round in each draw. If you don't draw your first choice everyone is thrown back in the pot and the draw starts over. I think this show a better example of demand. The Commission and Department must also learn the value of using weapon types as a method of offering opportunity without impacting the resource. This does not mean to move archery elk from September to November, this means giving more tags for the ones that really want to hunt and will pick up the bow rather than giving tags to the rifle hunters that want their demand counted but not their passion. my .02 -
Just wondered if that new anti-hog raisin thing will shut down the hog farm in Snowflake. There is only a few places on earth I would lose my cornflakes driving down the highway.

I think someone needs to call Coues 'n' Sheep out and have him show us that 3" MATTHEWS group at 100 yards. I gotta meet the guy that can do that. How many arrows does it take to make a group, one, two, three, four
-
You have to keep in mind my glass is 1/2 empty. I don't buy the video; they are remarkable archers no doubt. I thought the arrow flight from a finger shooter was remarkably excellent. It is so cool to watch the arrow in slowwwww motion. The appreciation for an olympic style archer is one that I will always cherish.

Wow, so much to try to believe at once, Coues 'n' Sheep 3" groups at 100 yards, Xforce 350 fps IBO. Fill up my glass, I don't want to be 1/2 empty.

What do the patents total on that $730.00 bow and where do they go?

O.K., I will try to look at this more positive.

If you can shoot a bullet hole through paper with it from 6' to 20', it is worthy to shoot a fixed blade broadhead.

I am sure glad I got to listen to Commissioner McLean blow smoke up his a$$ about how he single handedly kicked a$$ on this internet provider and saved this service for the hunters of Arizona. I think he deserves all the credit. If someone could please schedule a marathon meeting so we can listen to Commissioner McLean accept all our thanks. -
Totally awesome

Lance, When are you going to invite these folks to the trash pickup or did I miss the invitation?

My buck won a biannual Pope & Young Award

Mark, That’s a tough question. I have always struggled with this sort of thing and have no resolve for myself. I hope you make a choice that is right for you and your family. I just wonder what Pope, Young and Cabelas would do if no one sent them anything? Would they change how they do things? -
spent the whole fall and winter scouting Coues

NEO, Just wondered if you got my PM"s They do not show up as being sent. -
You know the good Lord must smile when a bow hunter thanks Him for being able to harvest a Javelina. Some of us may scratch our heads about it but the heart of a humble hunter is something to smile upon. Congrats Mark.

NEO, congrats. That is a beautiful buck. Never realized who you might be or who your father-in-law was until I saw the pictures posted. Glad your father-in-law left some genes in those hills. I haven't seen Ernie for 25 years. Looks pretty good for an old man I plan to do some predator control there right after deer season. -
AZ Game and Fish releases survey results
dave replied to Huntin'AZ's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
The Colorado preferance point system has been mentioned many times on many threads. I know it won't work in Arizona with our less than 15 foot snow pack. Can some of you Einsteins tell me how this would work? We have very few animals here. Last time I checked Arizona was a desert. -
Anybody that can run down a coues, get in front of it and stick it with the stick and string is one bad dude. Maybe next year he will just bulldog one. Great job Andy.

AZ Game and Fish releases survey results
dave replied to Huntin'AZ's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
If all the groups stopped with all their support it would have no impact??? Why be in a group? Why support anything??? What would all the legislators think if the Game and Fish had to sell their auction tags on eBay to non-residents because all the resident hunters were fed up with their bull and quest for money? What would all the legislators think when the G&F wants to pay ballot collectors to go collect ballots for their 1/20th of a cent sales tax to generate 55 million dollars a year for them? What would the Governor think? Hey, the state and the governor could swipe that too. After hunting in Arizona for over 40 years I have never seen such a quest for money that compromises the resource. We are on the black train headed on the south road to screw up Arizona for many years. A few Commissioners we have are arrogant and spit in the face of the faithful. I guess they have personal agendas to accomplish. WELCOME TO COLORADO -
AZ Game and Fish releases survey results
dave replied to Huntin'AZ's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
While some on the Commission and some in the Department may think this is a fair and scientific survey, I totally disagree. How they chose who to take the survey may be argued to be fair but the way the questions were written and designed were not. It is clear the questions were designed to produce certain results that were desired. They don’t want to know the truth and I certainly don’t buy this survey at all as representing the truth. What it represents is a few Commissioners and a Department that wants to achieve what they want to achieve and will screw the dedicated hunters of this state to do it. I am done dealing with these folks. What they need is for every sportsman’s group in this state to abandon them. No more raffles, no more auctions, no more wildlife projects, no more support when the legislature wants to slash there budget, NO SUPPORT FOR A BALLOT INITIATIVE FOR SALES TAX BUT RATHER SOME MAJOR OPPOSITION. I am done. It's called hunter retention.
