  1. On 12-15(or 14)-15 Chad Smith pled guilty to an information charging that he used an aircraft to harass wildlife. It is a misdemeanor. Part of the agreement is that he can not seek a hunting license in Arizona or anywhere, shall not participate in any hunting activity, shall surrender his guides license in AZ,shall divest himself of any interest in Vaquero outfitters.

If he complies with this order the government will dismiss the case on or before December 13, 2019

  2. Well, I'm reaching that level of bonus points where receiving a Bighorn Sheep Tag might actually be a reality. I know absolutely nothing about guides for sheep in AZ and need to start looking for the best guide to suit my style of hunting. I will be attempting to harvest with my bow so I will need someone who understands hows a bowhunter thinks (crazy on sheep right?) The units I want to put in for are 22, 24b areas, and I will need some recommendations on other areas conducive to the bowhunter. I'm not opposed to finishing the hunt with my rifle but would really like to harvest with my bow...again I gotta get a tag first LOL.

What are some guides out there for Sheep that I can start looking at and interviewing?

    Thanks folks!!

Travis and Troy from Southwest Hunting Adventures would do you good. I have been with them on several hunts and they are top notch. No one will scout harder.

  3. Awesome

    Sounds liek a great hunt.

Have you already harvested a desert sheep?

I have. I was drawn for Desert BH in 2001. I know how lucky I am to have been drawn for both. In other threads on this forum, one sheep hunter, AZBULLHUNTER, stated " As a good friend told me before the hunt there is more to sheep hunting than just shooting a ram. He was right. As you all know sheep hunting is a privilege that should not be taken lightly. Very few people get to experience it. I have been fortunate to have done it twice." I have to echo his comments. What an awesome privelidge to get it once, much less twice. Such a majestic animal too. Not to mention all the great folks you get to meet because of being drawn, even right here on this forum. Congrats to AZbullhunter too, you got an awesome ram! I am willing to help anyone out there with sheep hunts too. What a great time.

Congrats on your great ram. I have been waiting to hear about your hunt. It is hard to believe that I have been blessed with two Az rams. There are so many hunters here in AZ who have not been lucky enough to draw one tag let alone two. I met a lot of people on my hunt and all were very helpful. I would encourage next years hunters to go there during deer season and talk to the deer hunters. I stopped many on the road and went into numerous camps and received lots of help.I had two people (Dave Manoos and members of the Corbell ranching family offer me the use of their horses or mules if I needed them. All the ranchers and cowboys were very helpful and friendly to boot. The residents of Safford,Clifton and Morenci were very as nice as they could be and I still keep in touch with some of them. It is a hunt I think about everyday and will treasure it the rest of my life

  5. I find it interesting that the new Governor tags that would be auctioned (to the rich) are for a year long hunt.

The legislator tags would be auctioned as well (to the rich) and would be open for all of the seasons in a given unit.

The regular sportsman's tags (raffled so the average person could draw) would only be open for the one season.

In summary the rich boys would either be able to hunt before the average guys does or in several different seasons. So this system is set up to benefit the rich so they can buy more tags.

I have talked to a lot of hunters from Utah and attended a meeting in Kanab Utah that was run by an organization of everyday hunters who hated the Utah system. It is worse now than it was.

I can only imagine what the expenses would be to run the expo and they would be paid first. Like someone else said the Fiesta Bowl is a non profit organization but it does not mean the director does not get paid 400,000 per year.

    Bad idea
