I finally got my second coues buck with a bow after 3 weeks of work. I sat a tree stand during the freezing cold waiting for a specific buck I had in mind to come in. Long store short my buddy shot a 118" from a stand that was 400 yards away from mine on the first week of January. I was happy for him but jealous as well. I saw many deer but not the chocolate horned I wanted. My pig tag was expiring in a couple days so I decided to give up on the tree stand idea and glass a field that I have seen pigs in many times. As I was walking a wash, I saw a "body". It was a massive 100" for sure and he was 80 yards plus with a doe. As I creeped up to try and get 20 more yards on him, this small 3 point popped up to 60 yards staring right at me. I thought about it and let the arrow fly at 60 yards and absolutely drilled him. I honestly had no idea how many points he had other than I knew he wasnt a spike. I have never been so proud of a deer Ive shot even though he is not very big at all. It broke the 65 Inch barrier barely so that puts even a bigger smile on my face. It makes me laugh how much time I put into what I thought would work (tree stand) and end up killing a buck while not even trying for deer. That is why we love hunting isnt it?

That is actually what I'm looking for. How much you think you'd want for it. You might be right about the shipping. I have no idea.

I use a 3 blade muzzy 100 grain. I've shot 2 deer, elk, and 4 pigs with it and and it flys through every time. Never used anything else to compare but they have never failed me yet.

Quick question. Does a specific buck make a scrape and frequent it? Meaning will that buck come back to that exact scrape or do all other bucks use it as well? I'm getting different deer on one and am wanting to pattern a specific one better. I hope that makes sense. Please advise I would really appreciate it.

So true gentleman. I've only shot one coues with a bow and it was on water. Tons with rifle. But as we all know, nothing compares to drawing back with a bow. I'll be back at it until the 31st. Nice to hear the similar stories.

I have been hunting an area now all January. Its been mostly out of a tree stand. There is sign, tracks, scrape lines everywhere. Someone just shot a monster out a tree not more than 500 yards from my stand. I try to spend every day off, and morning I can to sit. Passed up on a couple bucks early January and it was HOT all week. Now all deer seem to have gone active only at night... Anyone else getting irritated with a bunch of close calls? I enjoy this site and forum because seeing others trophies make me remind myself it is possible. Good Luck to all out in the field!!!

Getting rifle done over next couple days, Costco trip, gas up truck/ quad, all clothes ready, new batteries in all toys, and hoping to be done by Saturday. I am so pumped. Only been looking forward to it for 362 days now.

I love bucks that are unique like that one. Awesome when you pick them up in your binos even more!

I have a nice water hole I have been prepping to sit on this upcoming Wednesday and Thursday. It has been getting hammered pretty good over the last couple weeks. However today I check my camera and deer count was down tons. It was obvious that since it rained deer are watering elsewhere. There were a few puddles on roads back there. Question is how long will it take about for all the rest of the water to dry? If not dry is it worth me still sitting in blind all day with deer count down so much? Any input is greatly appreciated. Not on market anymore

This is my 2012 Spring turkey shot in New Mexico. Went with my buddy Dave (couesdeerhntr) for 5 days. First 2 days were tough. When I mean tough, I mean not one talking bird. However we stayed with it and my buddy called this gobbler in to 35 yards. He was strutting the whole way for about 5 minutes. Never once came out of it. Over the 5 days we heard about 6 birds. Shot at one from obviously to far and messed up all the other ones. This is why I love hunting!!! Had a great time with my best friend and we look forward to it every year. I hope this helps get the blood flowing a bit more for all those that are hunting as we speak!!! Enjoy

I am wanting to start looking for coues sheds ASAP. I know they say may is a great time but could they have fallen off right about now as well. Went last year for a half day in june and found quite a few along with a fresh lion kill.

It was a frustrating trip as well for me. I ended up shooting one after 4 days but first 2 we didn't hear a word. Last 2 days heard gobbles but they either shut up or wouldn't come in. It is all about the weather and temp I think. Thanks Dave for the great time!!!
