    G7 Rangefinder is AWESOME!!!!

Chronographs will get you really really close to your actual muzzle velocity. However it's only 1/2 of what's really going on when you build the first drop chart that isnt 100% and needs corrected. Published BC's aren't 100% accurate either and is just as much a culprit to your data being initially off as the velocity. In some cases published BC's are exadurated and in some cases understated. Example: Hornady has recently found more accurate way to mesure BC. A bullets BC is shed in flight and their new Doppler system they can now mesure this more accuray than ever before. Hornady has recently updated the published BC for their bullets on their website because of this. That being said you can correct a shooting solution or (drop chart) by adjusting the input of BC just as well as you can by adjusting velocity. We choose to correct Velocity because it's just easier. So when you adjust velocity it doesn't mean your bullet isn't doing the speed the chronograph is reading it's just the number we tweek to make the actual trajectory work out.

    G7 Rangefinder is AWESOME!!!!

Pretty handy little tool Huh Adam. I'm glad you got it dialed in. Stan got his going this morning as well. Becker is correct in that it dosent account for Coriolis or spindrift. I suggest like mentioned splitting the spindrift and zeroing windage there.
  4. I don't usually post pictures of the rifles I build but this one is a little different so I thought I'd share. Starting as a late 70's Remington 700 ADL that was an ugly but true Kryloned varmint hunting machine in its day. That day came when the 55gr. Ballistic tips doing 3900fps. finally cought up to it. As deep as I could send the bore scope the heat cracks never ended. The tear down began minutes after. I decided to have a little fun with this build. A Broughton 5C 1:8 twist 3G contour barrel blank was chosen to stabilize some longer 75gr pills. Pushing the barrel shank as long as possible to allow a setback when time comes it finished in at 26 3/4" in length. Instead of straight or spiral fluting I decided to wright a CNC program and go straight interrupted fluting. Of course I trued the action fluted the bolt and added a tach knob. The stock is a Gunwerks LR-1000 Egde Tech carbon fiber utalizing an aluminum bedding block and recoil lug wedge system. The recoil lug is now .250" thick. Jewell trigger, flush cup sling adapters and Atlas pic rail for the bipod. Scope is the G7 "Nightforce NSX" 5-22x50 mounted with Talley one piece bases and rings. Wanting something diffrant I chose to go black and orange. It took allot of work and hours of masking for Cericoat but the end result is orange flutes on a black barrel and bolt. Black and gray spiderweb painted stock with a little orange speckling to tie it all together.

    A little diffrant colored .22-250

Recently finished up my 28 Nosler. 26" 1:8.75 twist Rock Creek barrel. Micro bastard brake. The new SS GLR action and new Magnus stock. NP3 coated bolt. Jewell trigger. Same scope as the .22-250. It's pushing 180gr. Bergers with Retumbo at 3142fps. With no pressure signs yet. I just got my hands on a few 195gr hybrids. I hear rumors of 3050fps using these... I'm just afraid I'm going to need a faster twist to stabilize them. We shall see soon. 👍

    First or second focal plane

I have switched to FFP on all my rifles except my Gunwerks 28 Nosler. " It still has the Gunwerks G7 scope on it. My Longrange shooting technique is dial for elevation and hold for wind. I had a vortex PST 6-24x50 FFP on only one of my rifles at this point. In 2013 on a 24A couse hunt I happened to be using this rifle for this hunt. A buddy of mine from Texas was on this hunt and put a really bad shot on a couse at 250 yds. As the couse was at a full run out of the bottom of the canyon my spotter was able to range the top of the ridge in front of where the deer was heading. He says 482yds 5.2 minutes elevation and 4minutes of wind left to right, right between the two junipers ridge lined lets hope he stops at the top. It was last light... The ridge we were sitting was too steep to get prone so I slapped my tall stony point bipod on the rifle sat down Indian style with my pack in my lap for stability. As I found the two ridge lined junipers in my scope on 6X I could see the deer making its way to the top In the lower corner of the scope. Instinctively I dialed to 24X where I quickly realized at that magnification the scope couldn't collect enough light to see anything well enough to make a shot. I rolled the magnification down till I had enough light just as the deer thankfully stopped right next to the juniper on the right. Already dialed 5.25 minutes elevation I held the 4minutes of wind and dropped him. I looked at the magnification I was forced to use and it was just shy of 14X. At that moment I realized where the FFP has the advantage for my shooting technique. All my rifles have been switched out but one.
