Yup it worked and we got your whole photo album. good thing they were huntin pics -
I myself started out with a Browning BAR in 30-06 when I was 12, way back when. That gun didn't kick bad at all since it was a semi-auto and it had a fairly short lenth of pull. Picked up some bad habits with that semi-auto though. If I missed on the first shot I would just lay down a barrage till the gun was empty. Everyone always knew it was me shootin Maybe the .243 in a youth model with varmit loads then work up to big game loads. The gun would be passed down to his younger brother who is 6yrs old now so a youth model would get lots of use.

Hasn't there been hunts going on?

I know of a 135" buck taken in Sonora last month. Just don't know where or who the outfitter was. Got the info from a very reliable source. -
Thanks Bill Q. that chart helps. Bret I agree with you, my son needs to be able to hold the rifle so it needs to be fairly light and that means more recoil. Maybe I'll get him a varmit rifle and wait a couple years to get him a deer rifle.
-
My taxidermist has a client who shot a 135" coues in Sonora and if that wasn't enough he shot a 218" mulie on the same hunt! If and when I can pics I'll see if I can post them with the hunters permission. Rumors do get out of control as they are passed around. I think that was one of the problems that came about with Maces' buck.

COOSEFAN, Congrats on the piggy Thanks for sharing you hunt and pics, thats a dandy shed and a good looking buck.

Well I know Bill Q. is going to be there and I think I saw that Buckhorn is going, anyone else? I'll be there Thur., Fri. and Sat. next week. Should be an awesome show

I will be going to the SCI convention in Reno next month and was wondering if any other CouesWhitetail members will be in attendance. This is the most awesome hunting convention/show. It takes 2 days just to see it all. Hope some of you can make it

Josh, Those are some awesome cats I'd love to have one but living in CA., well you know the story. It sucks
-
Casey, My son weighs 70lbs now and I probably won't get him the rifle till next Christmas. What do you think?
-
Some people just don't have a clue about hunting ethics Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

The cinnamon color phase is my fav. I have seen some gorgeous variations with the prettyest being a strawberry blonde color.

I've been watching this and other threads on this topic with great intrest as I'm trying to decide on what rifle and cal. to get for my 10 year old son. I've been leaning toward the 7mm-08 but read all of these posts with an open mind cause I'm not in any rush. Thanks for the good info.

Very nice pickup. Would of liked to have seen him with a couple more years growth

Great little spot. Thanks for sharing the pics. -
Unit 53 was one of the units I was looking at last year. Were these draw tags, if so how many points does it take to draw, or were they land owner vouchers?
-
Wow your hunters got some quality bucks there. A couple three of them are smokers. What unit were you hunting in and who do you guide for?
-
Neat finds while roaming the hills

TLH, That must of been an awesome thing to view, makes the hair standup on the back of my neck just thinking of it. I think myself I might have had to take some pics. Good move not to tell where the cave is. Any idea how old the site was? Do you think he was a Chief or holy man? Thanks for sharing -
Awesome critters for sure
