Neat finds while roaming the hills

azhuntnut, That reminds me. I found a mining claim in Alaska about 3 years ago. It was in a small jar that had its lid nailed to a tree then the jar with the claim in it was screwed in to the lid. If I remember it was from the 1930's and in a little worst shape than yours. A friend I was hunting with really wanted it so I let him have it so I can't remeber exact dates or the name. It was pretty cool though -
Great story and a great accomplishment Spot him, stalk him and hammer him solo. It's a great feeling isn't it

Thanks for the pics and update. Best of luck on your hunt

Heck, I ain't going now my buck is dead -
AZKendog, Nice buck, congrats. Looks like one of those "what if" bucks. Matching sides and he would have been in the toad catagory. Nonetheless good solid buck. Any story to go with the pics?

I haven't found alot of things but I guess my best find would be an Indian spear head. It's about 3 3/4" long by alittle over 1 1/2" wide. It's pretty cool. I've also found fossils, very old bottles, very old shoes and others items. And no, there weren't any feet in them shoes -

RANKING #23 Must be all that BASHING -
As some have said the best coues rifle is the rifle that you shoot the best and have the most confidence in. That said the rifle I use for coues is a rifle I had custom built for hunting mule deer in areas where I'm shooting across canyons. It is a 7mmstw built on a remington 700 action with a 28" Hart barrel, Mcmillen stock and jewel trigger( set at 2 1/4 lb.) It shoots a 160gr. bullet at 3400fps and groups .324 at 100yds. It gives me the confidence to make that long shot when the time comes.

Deerslam (and anyone else on the forum who will be there): I'll be signing my books -- including my newest, "The History of SCI" and "Wind In My Face" -- at the Leopard's Lair Lounge from 10 am to noon on Wednesday 18 January and from 1 to 4 PM on Thursday 19 January. I'll also be moderating my annual seminar "Your First African Safari" on Wednesday from 10 AM to noon. It's SCI's longest running and most popular seminar. We usually get a turnout of 250-300 folks, nearly all of them heading to Africa for the first time. Look me up and say howdy (you don't have to buy a book). It would be nice to put faces to your posts. Bill <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bill, I'll try to look you up while I'm there. Odds are I'll be there Thur.- Sat. though.

Coues1, You are right about the "number game" We all get caught up in big antlers and horns and what they score. You don't hear to many people talk about score when they shoot a forky or a rag horn bull. I shot a 22" 3x2 mulie this Oct. and don't no what he scores or care. What was more important to me was that I hunted hard, had a good time and took a good represenative buck for the area I was hunting.

Wow Whackem and stackem! Congrats to all.
