    atv street legal ticket

The way i read this post is that John thought it would have been nice to warned not that he was playing the ignorance game--also, the thing that i read was that the Sheriff was being a jerk to John and that was John's chief complaint. Now, all of that said, we all have bad days--maybe the Sheriff was having one of those days--they are just people like the rest of us. I am glad you posted this John--i need to get some things fixed on my quad before i take them back out and your misfortune just may have saved me a bunch of headaches!! For all of you LE's out there--you chose the job you have--and there should be no thanks needed. We all do our job and that is what makes this world go around.

    Good Idea or Not

Turkeys have a life span of about three years--how many birds just die out there every year?? The kids didn't have that much of an impact on the birds and what we got in return is priceless. I have heard two complaints about this hunt--one is that they don't think the kids should have the first crack at the birds--this is plain selfish in my eye's--two, can the birds handle the amount of kills that the kids put on them--there wasn't that many birds killed to worry about it-- So i guess my question is are we all hunters who feel the same way about the future of hunting and that the kids of today are our future or our we a bunch of elitists who care nothing about the future but only about our immediate needs?? I bet most will say we care about the future and that in my eye's is the correct answer--to those who care only about themselves--well, i guess you won't be changed and i feel sorry for you.

    Minox vs Vortex

Doug from Cameraland sent me a pair of Minox 10x42's to do a demo on and i have to tell you these glasses are some of the best i have looked through. These are the heavier version of the Minox--i have to look up the model number but i know they run around $350.00 a pair. If you live anywhere near Happy Valley and 43rd ave you are more than welcome to come and look through them and see for yourself. Now i know a lot of guys think the "S" glass is the best and i can not argue that as i have the 15"s and the spotting scope with the "S" on them--i also have the Geovids in 10x42's and they are better in my opinion than the "S" brand but to each their own opinion. For the price these Minox are under priced!!

    Good Idea or Not

We had over 40 kids at the youth camp in 23 and 11 killed birds--all of the birds were either Jakes or two year old birds. There were a ton of birds out there and i can tell you the kids didn't have a chance. If you know how to hunt turkey then you shouldn't worry about it because you will get your bird. If you have some kind of pain over this then you need to remember back when you were a kid and maybe you will see it a different way.

    Here's Another Bull Video

I thoroughly enjoyed that video--watching her and her reaction shows that no matter how many years you have been on this planet the thrill of the hunt never leaves us. Great video!!

Drawn for 1st rifle hunt unit 23

Start out on your own--call the WM in that unit (there are two of them) and speak with them--they are both great people. Get out and scout--understand the terrain and see if you can do it yourself. I would give it a try before i hired a guide.

    Hats off to AZGF

It was posted about a month a go or so but it got buried down the line. I will be in the 23 camp with a bunch of people and a lot of kids and i know the 27 camp will be a good one as well. By the way--game and fish had a bit of a typo on the mailing because it states that there will be hamburgers and hot dogs at the 27 camp only--this is not accurate--we will have the same grub up at the 23 camp as well. We will have a banjo picker up there--a few seminars and some raffles for the kids--it really will be a lot of fun! If you get up there and (i hope you do) look me up--i will probably be one of the guys flipping burgers and turning dogs!!

    Senior Hunt

I like this idea and it is one that we kicked around a few years ago on the old AZOD forum--there were guys on there at the time that stated "why should the older hunters have an edge they have hunted their whole lives here?"--valid point but it doesn't really add up when a guy is 74 years old, has max bonus points for antelope and has never hunted them. If this were to go through i think a Pioneer License holder should be able to draw a tag that they have never drawn and they have over 15 bonus points already. I know a lot of the Sheep guys will have a problem with this but if it is truly going to be an advantage to the Seniors then it has to be a rule across the board. Many older guys have stopped applying for sheep a long time before they reached Pioneer status anyway and a lot of the older folks can't afford a sheep hunt so there won't that many in the pool. PS--they would have to hold the loyalty point in order to draw the premium tags. Just a few thoughts i had going through my head this fine Saturday morning!

    draw results

Stan, The leftovers are on line right now and i don't know anything about the areas they have--all cow--some rifle and some archery. Son in Law was drawn for a 5BN archery cow tag but he didn't apply for it. He spoke with game and fish and they said he was drawn for his second choice which was a 5A archery bull tag--now he is trying to get them to fix the error. My question is how many of us that did not get drawn were plugged into a unit we did not have in any of our choices?? Could it be that a number was transposed and we were put into a unit that was a very hard unit to draw?? Another error i know about is a good one for the hunter--this hunter applied for 3*** but he was drawn for 3***--one is for a late rifle bull tag the other is a trophy bull hunt with rifle--i told him to keep that to himself. The two numbers he applied for looked somewhat the same. He was drawn for the trophy hunt. Lots of errors that i have heard about this year--they need to get this thing back on line so they can eliminate human error with people who get numbers mixed up.
  18. Tim, Practice hard and look long and then take your time and kill one bigger than this one. You can do it buddy!!!
  19. Tim go buy some Shockey Gold powder and it will cut your cleaning down by 90%. I shoot it with a .265 grain sabot and shoot 4" groups at 200 yards. Use 100 grains when you start shooting and then move up to 150 grains of pellets--this will allow you to see how the rifle shoot with different loads. Every barrel shoot different with muzzy's--believe me i know--so find the right sabot and stick with that load bullet combo. I have the Omega on my muzzy and i can't say i care for it too much--the way they work is you have to shoot 150 grains of powder and use a 250 grain bullet--i could never find the sweet spot so the BDC didn't work for me--the scope is nice but the BDC is useless in my opinion. If you need any help getting her all set up let me know and i will be happy to tell ya what i know.
  20. OK, our game and fish (commission) has decided to sneak another new rule into the books again. This one will change the way "guides" are classified--in fact, if you are a camp cook you will be considered a guide--if you are a booking agent you will be considered a guide--if you help your buddy Joe (if Joe buys food or gas) out you could be considered a guide with this new language presented in this. Read below then please email Rep. Bill Konopnicki and ask him to not sponsor this bill. Thanks for helping with this in advance! I am sending this to a select list of individuals based on your involvement in the guiding industry or the impact a proposed Arizona law might have on you. HB 2064 is making its way through the Arizona legislature this spring. This bill dramatically changes the definition of a “guide” in Arizona and could have a devastating impact to all of us. Here is a link to the bill http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/49leg/1r/bills/hb2064p.pdf . In a nutshell the bill changes the current definition of a guide from "Guide" means a person who, for pay, aids or assists any person in taking wildlife. And below is the proposed definition: 9 10. "GUIDE" MEANS A PERSON WHO DOES ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: 30 (a) ADVERTISES FOR GUIDING SERVICES. 31 ( HOLDS HIMSELF OUT TO THE PUBLIC FOR HIRE AS A GUIDE. 32 © IS EMPLOYED BY A COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISE AS A GUIDE. 33 (d) ACCEPTS COMPENSATION IN ANY FORM IN EXCHANGE FOR AIDING OR 34 ASSISTING ANY PERSON TO LOCATE OR TAKE WILDLIFE. First of all, I have not heard a compelling reason to change the original definition. But with the new language of “compensation in any form” is so far reaching that the potential mis-interpretation is scary. Under this definition you cannot even help someone locate wildlife! Here are a few points: 1. Anyone involved in a non-profit group engaged in sponsoring youth camps would considered a guide. 2. If you buy a food for a bunch of buddies that come to help on a hunt then they would all be considered guides. 3. Even a camp cook would be considered a guide. The scenarios are endless which is why it is a frightening proposition. Rep. Bill Konopnicki from Safford is the bill sponsor, but the Arizona Game and Fish Department is the author and only supporter of this bill. I am asking you to please send a polite message to Rep. Konopnicki bkonopnicki@azleg.gov asking him to reconsider the sponsorship of this bill due to the vague language and damaging consequences to all of us. Please do this as soon as possible (today would be best!) and let me know that you did send it so we can follow up. Thanks for your help.

Briddog--man, i love ya--you did get over it didn't you?? Sorry buddy--i was having a bad day when i responded to your PM to me--i then saw that you were having a bad day or two yourself and i want to apologize to you if i offended you in any way--i made a general comment on that post not one directed to you personally but i think you took it as i was speaking to you personally. Once again buddy--i am sorry if i offended you in any way. This site is not a joke--it is a great site--as far as this thread goes--this too shall pass! Good luck on the draw!

    mormons and big love

For as many reasons i like the church there are just as many for those who do not like the church--personally i am good with that--too bad others are not good with what i or others think. I have been Mormon my whole life--born into the church and i have been through everything but being married in the Temple--why?? Because i married a Catholic girl that i still love after 28 years--never once has the Mormon church try to convert her because they know she has a faith that she believes in and as long as she believes in God and treat people with respect and love she is just as good if not better than some who goes to my church. I have had "friends" tell me i would go to heck if i didn't get born again--i gotta tell ya, once your born you are born and if you lose the love of the lord then i guess you need to be born again--i have not lost my love for the lord so i do not feel like i need to be "saved" for those of you who have lost your faith and now found it then i truly admire you! I do not judge--i will not judge--you are what you are and i am what i am and that is how this country was founded--let it be folks and lets think about hunting for a while.

    mormons and big love

Mormons are good folks--that show is just that a show and just like this post if you don't want to see it or read it then don't turn it on or don't click on the post. My daughter watches that show because she thinks it is funny but she, like me, was baptized in the LDS church and she knows more about the church than some of these producers ever will. Most folks do not have a clue what the beliefs are in the church so they are a little bit nervous when someone mentions the "M" word--and just like some other things people don't know about they have a tendency to shy away and criticize. Touchy subject for some--
