    Antelope

Like Blake said the place is covered with private land but there are a couple of ranchers that will let you hunt on their places but you need to get up there and talk to them. Be careful on the Perkin's place there is a guy that runs it that has a super hot head his name is Danny Majors. Since Mr.Perkins is not on the ranch much and Danny's brother in law got killed a couple years ago he is the main guy and believe me he is not a pleasant man to deal with. There is public land that a lot of guys don't hunt and you should really try to find the areas to hunt on that land. Forget water holes because there will be ground blinds all over them a month or two before the hunt and there will be hunters in them sleeping to hunt them. The 19A hunt is the type of hunt that you need to hunt through the entire week to give you the chance to dodge the rest of the 39 hunters out there. The antelope are not as prevalent in the unit either because the G&F has done some transplanting and have taken a lot of antelope off the unit. There is a new highway going right across the Granite Dells and i hope it isn't going to take out the Burris ranch (Deep Wells) on the west side of 89A because that used to be some of the best hunting in the unit. Good luck guys and make sure you give the public land just north of Perkins place a good look!
  2. Kind of like the 14 year old that drew the early tag last year and pulled it again this year Jim? Yup he did and it is the trophy rifle tag again!! He is a great kid and i am happy for him but i am not happy for all of the guys that are getting long in the tooth who never draw these tags.

    Finally They're UP

Remember when you could call a special number--pay 5 bucks and find out if you were drawn without a busy signal?? Those were the days! Found out a day early and only spent 5 bucks--now that is sick isn't it? But i bet if they had that today they would make a small fortune on all of us nuts!!

Ringer, I think the misconception is that the Arizona group is like the Utah group and that just isn't true. Utah Sportsman for Wildlife works with plenty of landowners and yes it has done some damage in Utah but the Arizona group is completely different than Utah and they do not want L/O tags any more than we do. I have been a part of this group since Pete C. went around letting us know what it was about and i can assure you that Pete is the last one that wants L/O tags! You can relax and feel confident that the L/O tags are a dead subject and that the Arizona Sportsman for Wildlife group will fight that move if it raises its head again.

Interesting Mike. I know for a fact that what we have had in the past isn't helping all facets of the hunters or fishermen and woman in this state--what i have seen is some very rude, narcissists that think they can bully people while these people are trying to speak their mind--will not look at a person because i believe that these people think they are above the people who pay the tab in this state for our wildlife. You yourself are against archers as it was proven time and time again at the meetings i have attended over the years--Hernbrode was the bully who is now gone thankfully that would look at another commissioner with disdain if the other commissioner failed to vote the way he did. I saw an attorney doing what attorneys do and talk over people and tell people that he did not want to hear them any more (this in a public forum) and watching a very good man get humiliated in front of this commission. What i am trying to say is this--the bill as it is written may not be perfect but is is better than what we have had the past 10 or 15 years. The group we have now are far better than what we have had and that is only because we have a governor in place that makes decisions with her facts and not with her political agendas-. Lets all be thankfull that we have two new commissioners and the other two are gone--maybe now we can get someone to listen to us that do not think they are so much superior than us peons who pay the tab!

I only have one question?? Will all things dealing with hunting go to vote to the general public?? If we make this a right and it is voted into law will the general public be voting on hunting and fishing issues??

I would say that i am for these bills but my may concern is this will cause the public to vote on anything to do with hunting. With the apathetic attitude of hunters and fisherman i am very concerned that we may lose more than gain with these bills. John can you tell me what the chances are that we lose more than gain with this?? Look back to the trapping vote that we all lost because we were all thinking it would never happen and i guess we all stayed home that day and lost that piece of hunting (trapping) history. I need some clarification on this. Thanks!

    pay up front

I always apply for antelope in New Mexico and this year is no different. It is like here in Arizona when we could not apply on line for the entry fee--you would think it would have changed the amount of people applying but in fact it did not! There were more people who applied! I don't think you NM folks will see much of a change at all over there.

When we set it up the guy i worked with was named Weiss--you may try to contact him if he is still in the department. He is a great guy and will help you get it going. I believe his name was Mark Weiss.

    I Adopted A Catchment!!!

This program has been out there for a while and i like to see it taking off. It was pushed hard about 4 years ago when the department was having issues with the drought and manpower but for some reason the department didn't advertise it hard enough to get it off the ground. When it was first thought of it was like the Adopt a Highway program and the thought was that a person--any person could adopt a water catchment and you don't even have to belong to any group! This is the neat part--this is something you can do and you don't need approval from any board but your own to take on the task. The thought was since most hunters have their favorite spots to scout that they could check the tanks once a month or so to make sure things were good. Good job on the tank!!!!!

    new fish and game Gods

You need to thank him--really! Another member on this site was handed down about $1500.00 worth of fines by a Sheriff. These WM's have to do their jobs no matter if they agree with the law or not--it is their job and they do a damned good job at that. Don't be pissed at the WM he did you a favor--really he did.

    Party in the USA

Me likes DISTURBED!! Uh wakakak! I also like Charlie Daniels, George Strait--a little CCR and an occasional Eagle's here and there. Miley Cyrus isn't any better than her daddy but she is young and she got the right start on the TV.
