    This makes me sick!

I emailed FOX News basically challenging them to run a story on trash like this. Everyone has their opinions on different news channels but I think FOX might be the only one willing to even look at this as a story. Maybe if enough people asked them too they would? I think it would shed a little light onto a unseen portion of the drug trade/illegal immigrant issue. jeff
  2. Anyone have any opinions or advice on these stocks? I am too thinking about getting one for my .270 Weatherby Vangaurd. Mostly for my daughter who will start hunting this year, seems like the reduced recoil and adjustable lenght would be nice. Any thougths? jeff

    First Gila Bird

Congrats and good job on closing the deal! Turkeys here in this part of the state very rarely get spurs of any decent length, mostly due to the terrain that keeps them rubbed down. By looking at your pics I think I can almost pinpoint were you guys were hunting.....and if my guess is correct that is some rugged country and toms rarely get spurs.....atleast not the ones we have taken out of their jeff

    SPRING TURKEY Took 7 outta 7 !!!!!!

Congrats! However, unfortunately the Gila units will more than likely never be two turkey units again anytime soon. I spoke with the G & F a few weeks ago about the reasoning behind the one turkey rule, thinking it was population problems, however seems not to be so. I was told it was due to high hunting pressure, mostly the high numbers of AZ hunters who come into units 23 and 16 in particular. Now please dont shoot the messenger, this is just what I was told. I would think if the numbers where high enough to support a two bird limit then pressure should not be an issue, but thats just me I guess. Jeff

    Jayco Pop-Up

Just throwing this out there to see if there is any interest. I might be interested in selling my 1995 Jayco popup camper. Not sure the exact length but is is the larger version. Queen size on one end, full on the other. Table folds down into bed, 3 burner stove which can be used inside or out front, sink, gas/elec fridge, furnace, approx 25 gallon fresh water tank, shower/toilet, closet, awning. There are some rips in the canvas where it pulls over edges of beds but I will be trying to get those patched soon. If interested let me know and i can try to get some pics up. Asking $2800 jeff

    Pray for a friend's baby

My wife's co-woker's 18 month old daughter had an accident on Friday night that resulted in 3rd degree burns to both arms. They are in the burn unit over in Phoenix but from what I have heard the outcome does not look good. Please pray for this little girl and her family. Also strength for the mother as she is there at the hospital alone until family can get into town next week sometime. jeff

    Pray for a friend's baby

Thanks guys for all the prayers. They are anticipating her having to stay at least a month there at Maricopa County Hospital but things are looking good. Left hand is expected to fully recover and there are optimistic of almost complete healing of the right (was burned the worst). She still has skin grafting to get through and then to the Shriner's hosptials for re-hab (which is fully paid for by Shriners). So things are looking very good for this little baby. Power of prayer is amazing! thanks again, Jeff

Yes it is in Silver City. I need to correct that it is a 1994 not a 1995. There has been some interest both in pm's and replies so will go in order of time of posting/pms as first chance. Hopefully thats fair. jeff Folded Up Set Up Queen size end, table which is folded down, 3 burner stove Full Size end, sink, fridge, closet, shower/toilet Worst rip, gonna try to glue on some new canvas Small tear on other side

This year some folks from the Mimbres and Silver City Districts of the Forest Service will be there as guest speakers. Questions??.........Just ask! jeff

NM Goulds Turkey hunt on TV

Just thougt I would let everyone know that I heard today that the first ever Goulds Turkey hunt in NM, which took place Spring of '09, will be on TV tomorrow (March 3rd). I think they said on DirecTv channel 608?? I am not on satelite so not familiar with channels and will not be able to watch it.....if anyone can record it and get it to me that would be awesome I believe it will be on the NWTF's hunting show. The way this hunt came about was that the man who won the auction last year (paid $4,000) gave the tag to one of his sons. Once the raffle tag was drawn the same man contacted the winner of the raffle and ended up buying the tag from him for his other son. So the two hunters ended up being brothers as a gift from their dad. Unfortunately only one bird out of two ended up being taken, but not for lack of opportunity. Abnormaly hot weather also made it difficult. On a similar note the NM NWTF will be raffling off a Gould's tag once again this year with the second tag being sold by auction. I am sure I will have access to the raffle tickets again, as some of you bought some from me last year. If interested PM me. I believe they dropped the price from $10 down to $5 per ticket, but not positive of that yet. jeff

    Bleaching Skulls?

I have spent a lot of time on a taxidermy website and there are many people who soak skulls in ammonia for the degreasing step. Other things that people use are white fuel, dawn dish soap, acetone, etc. Never heard of it used as the whitening step though, everyone always uses some form of peroxide for that one. jeff

    Bleaching Skulls?

Do not EVER use bleach! Bleach will actually break down the bone and it will crumble over time. Be very careful with the 40% peroxide, make sure you are using gloves and eye protection because it will do some damage to your skin. The key with peroxide is heat.....why most people find that leaving it in the sun makes it whiter. Another option is to make up your peroxide paste then wrap the skull in Saran Wrap and place in front of a propane heater, and rotating as to heat all sides. Hotter the better as long as you don't melt the plastic wrap. Give that a while then wash it off. I am doing an elk skull for a friend right now and saturated paper towels with 3% peroxide then wrapped them on the skull with saran wrap. He spent a couple of hours in front of the heater last night. Towels were still real wet (and hot) so I just left it to dry out....will probably pull them off tomorrow and see how it came out. I am by no means an expert on this but have spent MANY hours researching different ways to do skull mounts. jeff
