Thats an awesome hog, I was out this weekend looking for a hog but no luck, I hear the smaller one's meat are more tender than the heavier hogs. I hear there are ferral hogs in a few places in Arizona never seen one myself but I'm going to keep on trying slowly but surely. CHD is that a ghost in back of that skip loader??

vml replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Good practice, My 12 and 4 year old daughters enjoyed finding the deer... vml -
FYI: If your in 34A about 12 miles (Josehine Canyon) in off the Patagonia/ Nogales highway be carefull of a property owner in a wheelchair carrying a scoped rifle. According to AZG&F he is known for shooting at IA's and hunters getting close to his land, I did see him... this was about three years ago..vml

Went scouting this weekend in 35B we have the middle hunt, checked out Harshaw Canyon and Washington Camp, very steep hills also went to west and north of Canelos Hills. I'm not sure where we are going to start hunting opening day. This is my first time in 35B anybody got any good suggestions, I talked to one border partol officer and he basically said that he has seen deer all over this area but mostly does. Anyway can hardly wait to be out there. Good luck...vml Tried the "Hunting Arizona" heading no response's..maybe better luck here..thx ahead time..

To all concerned: Yes I was sure it was a buck I did forget to add I did see the curvature of the antlers in my field glasses. Sorry didn't mean to alarm anybody. Thanks for the congrats it was a fun hunt in a new area for me; I think the area is alot "rougher" than 34A at least where I hunted in 35B. As far as the coiti's I sure wish I would of had a camera of some sorts especially the one that came within five feet from me and just started staring at me and I found myself talking to this animal telling it, it looked like a monkey. Amanda thx for posting the photo's, hopefully you got to enjoy Thxgiving with all what was going with your server. thx vml

Well six days of hunting in 35b paid off finally got an opportunity to shoot a buck, I tried Red Rock Canyon, Italian Canyon, below Washinton Camp, I'm not much of a sit down and glass type person so I saw a few tails taking off in front me I finally got the opportunity by a water source between Harshaw Canyon and Washinton Camp that I was spending alot of time by because there seemed to be alot of deer activity in the area such as seeing alot of does and a sight I have never seen before which was about 30 Cudomondies(spelling??) coming to water. Anyway I spotted a deer body move in front of me about 175 yards above the water source so I decided to go check it out, as I was about 125 yards away I heard this deer grunting and wheezing at me I looked thru my field glasses to see if I could spot this flustered deer, I finally spotted the broad sided deer thru the trees not sure at first if it was a buck or a doe, I figured it might be a buck since it was wheezing at me and I thought I saw a glimmer of antlers so I fired my first shot from my 30-06 pump rifle, the deer just stood there so I put the cross hairs on it again rather quickly and fired again this time it raised up its tail and took off to the right I was sure I hit so I went to look for blood nothing so I zigged zagged to the right for about 45 minutes nothing, I was afraid I might of nicked it and went down the canyon. So I zigged zagged back again and saw nothing. I was alittle peeved at myself for not taking more time at my aim. So I went back to my truck and had a quick sandwich and a beer thinking I just blew a great opportunty after six days. So as we all know we are obiligated to look for a possibe downed deer so I went back to the seen and believed it or not I spotted the down buck to the left about 20 yards from where I thought it went right but it must of ran right for a second and circled back before it expired. The bullet went thru just below the neck and existed above the opposite shoulder. After six days of hunting with others and by myself this was a welcomed sight. I sent some photos to Amanda to post. thx vml

Flagstaff4398, Triesgo, the breeze, HiCap40 appreciate the info, I have library book about ghost towns and mines of Arizona, there sure alot of mining history about the 35b area, when I was scouting two Saturday's ago we passed up alot on mining areas, that might be my strategy just go and check out old mines and maybe I will run into something,, like a whitetail buck! any way thx for the info I hope we get a little snow, like around six inches, its fun to chase tracks in snow for awhile..at least you know there out there somewhere.. thx...vml

AZPACKHORSE: I would love to get one of those big hogs, where is Redrock feedlot..do you think they are still there? e-mail me if you want...thx...vml

"Hey Now" I know someone knows something out there, there are 400 hundred++ permits out there for 35B, any info would be nice, I guess I will post in the "Rifle Hunting" heading maybe I will have better luck there...I don't think 35b will qualify as one of the better whitetail hunt units..thx ahead time.. vml

I have hunted there twice in the last eight years, I missed a beauty one sunday morning during a drizzle, went with my son about two years ago and spotted a 3x3 about 7:30am but it took off rather quickly..you can be amongst other hunters if you take middle march pass road about three miles before tombstone and go east about 10 miles to middle march canyon, the deer are there but you really have to hunt and be lucky, the Dragoons are a pretty site..get a forest map and call the game wardened for that area..good luck....vml

Thx Younghunter I guess I will camp amongst the other hunters to stay fairly safe at night if there are alot IA's and then find some nice canyons to hike into during the day..its going to take me a few days to get familiar with the area since it's my first time hunting this area (I will scout one weekend)...its nice to see your e-mail about alot of bucks being in that area. It.s not a large area which might make it interesting..I have ten days to get one...vml
