The greatest threat to our freedom is to continue to allow millions of people to disregard the law of the land.......

There is nothing racist about supporting our laws and expecting others to do so as well. There is nothing racist about not wanting to be compelled by government to pay for the healthcarre, education and incarceration of people who have not right to be in this country and who generally pay no income tax. There is nothing racist about wanting every person in this country to be accountable for his or her actions and not wanting people (illegal aliens) to have the option of simply buying a new set of fake documents to change his or her name for the purpose of avoiding the consequences of bad choices. It is not racist to be disgusted when you walk out to your truck while visiting Tucson only to find two illegal aliens in the act of ripping off your truck and then trying to run you over when you stop them. That's what happened to me. Those of you who use the race card as the argument against enforcement of the laws controlling immigration are enemies of democracy. Think about it. You are demanding that we ignore laws lawfully passed by elected representatives to preserve the safety and welfare of this country. Immigration laws exist for a purpose and your insistence that we ignore the law is wrong.
  3. We need to put people in office who will do something about this chronic problem. Vote for Buz Mills for governor. Vote for a republican for attorney general.

    Held at gunpoint

That's the dilemma with hunting down there. Once I'm in the hills I like my chances and am not too concerned about running into them. The problem is leaving camp and/or bringing children/friends who may not be as capable should a confrontation occur. (Case in point, last year two illegals tried to steal my truck while I was trying a case in Tucson. I caught them in the act and as I tried to stop them from fleeing the scene they tried to run me over with their get away car.) It is certainly more convenient to hunt elsewhere. On the other hand, because of situations like the one described above I feel almost obligated to hunt down there to push against the tide. If we were to group up and organize to stop the lawlessness we, like the Minutemen (and I can't profress to know much about the organization other than what I've read in the mainstream news)would be labeled as racists and hatemongers......

    Held at gunpoint

I have a left-over November tag for that unit and was planning on taking my 14 year-old nephew down there with me to introduce him to deer hunting. This crap really bothers me. What is most disturbing is that in today's world if there were to be a shoot out between hunters and these criminals the presumption of wrong doing would be on the hunters. The allegations would be that hunters were out looking for trouble or were too aggressive etc. The most powerful country in the world and we refuse to secure our borders.....amazing. I guess I will take my chances. I am not going to have a bunch of dirty criminals dictate where I hunt in my own country and state.

    Hunter Killed in the Gila

Anyone who hunts in August and September faces this issue nearly every trip. I for one hate being caught in severe thunder storms, but if you hunt there is no way around it. A couple of seasons back I found four dead cows that had been struck by lightning in 24a in Novermber (way late in the season). Unfortunately for them they were laying next to a juniper tree that got struck. What was unnerving about it was that it happened in November and the tree was not the tallest in the area and was half way up the ridge. I would have expected the lightining to hit the taller trees on the ridge top. You never know...

    Totally Bummed

You certainly took the high road. Though, as others have suggested, putting equipment at a spot prior to hunting it does not reserve the spot for any specific day or season. Good luck.

How to stop (or decrease) trail camera theft.

Why are you concerned that you would get into trouble for posting the video?

How to stop (or decrease) trail camera theft.

You guys need to start putting tracking devices inside your cameras. That way when someone steals one you can hire the guy from No Country for Old Men (Javier Bardem) to track the thief and his family down. Once the word gets out the thefts will stop......

    Stolen F250 Diesel

Sorry to hear it. I have a Dodge diesel and last year in Tucson I caught two illegals in the act of trying to steal it from a hotel parking lot. I was unloading my truck (was down there for a trial in federal court-as a lawyer) and had left it unlocked as I carried stuff up tp my room. I came back and one of them was ripping out the ignition. I started running toward him and he jumped into the get away car parked next to the truck. I got there right as he got the engine started to the get away car. I stood in front of the car to see if he had the cajones to run me over-yep. He reved the engine and came strait at me. I jumped out of the way and chased him out of the parking lot. Cost me about $750 to fix the truck. The officers that responded told me my truck was headed straight for Mexico. They didn't get the truck, but did end up taking my laptop computer and all my trial documents. People wonder why we are frustrated with the lack of enforcement of immigration laws.

Advice on Unit 23 South Elk

I have 11 bonus points this year and am trying to decide which elk unit to put in for. One of the units I am considering is 23 south. If last year's numbers hold true, I am competitive to draw a 23 south archery tag. I have not spent a lot of time in the unit lately and was wondering what the quality is like? I realize that nearly every unit is Arizona is capable of producing quality bulls, I am looking for any thoughts on the general trend of the unit. Thanks

    Up hill shot aim low?

There are some good articles on the topic on the web. Try this one: http://www.wildsheep.org/magazines/article...ll_shooting.htm . Angle of shot can make a very significant difference on your point of impact and should not be ignored.

Antelope and mule deer combo hunt, WY

Great animals. We hunted north of Lander near Meeteetse and got caught in the same storm. It snowed for three days straight. We couldn't even get into the majority of our unit.

    Carbon Fiber tripods

I recently purchased the SLIK 713CF II, which has carbon fiber legs. I think I paid just north of $200 for it. I have used both the Outdoorsmans and the SLIK and IMO it is every bit as good as the Outdoorsmans. Slik makes several lighter carbon fiber tripods, but I wanted something in the middle that would be a bit more stable than the lighter ones.

    Same Sex Marriage

There are a number of reasons to oppose gay marriage. The most obvious is it will weaken and dilute the importance of traditional marriage and family. If gay marriage is allowed in this state or in any other state, state run institutions, including schools, will begin adopting policies and practices to put homosexual marriage on equal footing with traditional marriage. This would be unavoidable. In that vein, schools will begin teaching our children that homosexuality is an acceptable option and equal to traditional marriage. Such teaching would directly collide with what I believe and what I teach my children and puts me in a position where I may be forced to take my children out of the public system. If the state adopts such policies it will necessarily start encroaching on religious freedom. Let me give you an example, advocates and government officials in certain states already are challenging the long-held right of religious adoption agencies to follow their religious beliefs and only place children in homes with both a mother and a father. For example, Catholic Charities in Boston (Massachusetts allows gay marriage) has stopped offering adoption services because of the governmental opposition it faces as a result of its opposition and refusal to place children in same-sex homes. Marriage is not a right, it is a privilege and a bundle of legal rights that society has given men and women in order to encourage and sustain family life. If society is not willing to give that same set of rights to homosexuals, it has that right. This is not an equal protection issue. For any of you who think differently, distinguish for me the difference between plural marriage (which is currently against the laws of every state in the union) and same-sex marriage. If you allow same-sex marriage on the basis that government cannot tell consenting adults who they must marry, how can government tell consenting adults who want to engage in plural marriage they do not have the same right? Finally, I want to comment on why Proposition 102 (which will be on the November ballot) is so important. As most of you know, some years ago California voters overwhelmingly passed a statutory ban on same-sex marriage. A recent California Supreme Court decision, made by unelected judges, has undone the people's mandate under the guise of "equal protection." Arizona, like California, currently has a statutory ban on same-sex marriage. Similar to California, however, this could be undone by appointed judges. Thus, Proposition 102 would amend the Arizona constitution to define marriage as only between one man and one woman. Such an amendment would keep the issue out of reach of the unelected judges. I would encourage everyone to vote yes on 102.

    Results are out

111 is right. You can get your results by checking the spring draw results.
  20. I have a quick question. If you are successful during the January non-permit (over the counter) archery deer hunt, can you still apply for a deer bonus point for that same calendar year? Thanks
  21. Given the odds of drawing a New Mexico goat tag, I have decided to look into purchasing land owner tags. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I am looking for three tags on a good ranch. Thanks

    H.S. Precision

I have a HS in 300 Wthby. It is a very solid gun and shoots great. Accuracy for me has been as advertised. I agree with RR's comment regarding the stock, but still a very nice gun.

    Preference or Bonus

Responding to M77's post, I have a question, how does the draw actually work in terms of being drawn for each species. Is there just one draw and when an applicant's name is drawn he/she will draw for any applied for hunt that is not already filled? Or is there a separate drawing for each hunt and all those that have applied for the particular hunt are drawn from that specific pool? It seems to me that it is the former. A couple years ago a friend drew the Aravaipa bighorn and an Unit 10 early rifle in the same year. There must be some relationship since it would be almost statisically impossible to draw both independent of the other in the same year.

    Preference or Bonus

I agree that it is very frustrating to live and pay taxes in a great hunting state like Arizona and yet go years without hunting. I, like many of you, have gone years without drawing anything here. And it is indeed frustrating to hear about people drawing premium tags year after year. Maybe their lucky or maybe something with the current system is causing it. As for those of you who know people who are getting inside favors from F&G or their agents and drawing premium tags every year or more often than they should, if that is true, such conduct is a crime and should be exposed and prosecuted. Finally, I agree with many of the ideas that have been raised relative to increasing our draw chances. For what its worth, I would like to see (1) waiting periods for successful applicants, (2) paper applications rather than internet, (3) a hunter safety requirement, (4) earlier application period/deadlines, and (5) a limit on species that one could apply for each year-something like the Utah system. At the end of the day, I guess we have to realize that the population in Arizona is growing so fast that the odds will never be what we would like.

    16B Elk

I drew a first hunt rifle tag for this unit and was wondering if anyone has hunted this unit before. I have spent some time in the unit scouting and have horses lined up. Any advice or thoughts on the hunt would be appreciated. thanks.
