  1. Man I'm sure glad he was ok end the end. I can't believe there are actually people that have tried that stuff. People are crazy. My GSP was but not once but twice by rattlesnakes. First time it was her fault as she was messing with it and the second she was walking next to me and the thing didn't even rattle it just reached out from under a bush and bit her upper leg. I think I saw it before she did. She also got stung by a wasp and a scorpion. She was a crazy little thing but I miss her. Glad it turned out ok for you.

Bow price reduced/reduced again/ and again

Length of pull on the 22 is 13" so kind of intermediate. Barrel length on 308 is 22" I tried to get all the info in the ad but I forgot these two things.

    Good Guy Buyer List

I'd like to add nature girl to the list. She was a pleasure to deal with and the pack I got from her helped out on my recent turkey hunt. I'd also like to add ringer. He's a good guy. Transaction went smooth. I sold something to levers awhile back too. Another good guy. And finally I know Casey ( firstcoueswas80 ) is on the list already but I just thought I'd say that I shipped him something and he sent a payment by check in the mail promptly and paid for the shipping. It's cool to be able to trust a guy you've only met over the Internet. I'm sure there are others that I'm forgetting.
  4. I have some more jewelry for sale. All the prices are retail figures from the 80's and early 90's. I am selling this stuff for half of the marked price. If you can't read a price or want a better picture or need a size on a ring just let me know. Mother's day is coming up and you won't find a better deal. If you have someone that likes Indian Jewelry this stuff is a steal. Some of this stuff is from the sixties and seventies and is considered vintage and bordering on antique. The first set of pics are Zuni inlay pins that can be hung from a chain and used for pendants. Two of the earrings are clip ons. One of the bracelets is silver with a 14k gold band in the middle and one of the watch bands is silver with a 10k gold overlay. The Az state seal belt buckle is plated. The beaded hat band I'm asking 75$ for and the Zuni Bear fetish necklace I'm asking 325$ for.
  5. Thanks Casey. Hope your wife likes the earrings.
  6. I put some stuff on here about five years ago and had pretty good luck so I'll try again. My grandfather owned a shop in Northern California for twenty years and I inherited a lot of stuff that either I can't wear because of size or because it's for a woman. All the prices are retail figures that were on the jewelry when I got it. I have been selling it for 50% of what it is marked which is what he paid for it directly from the artists. All of the pieces are signed except for one which I believe is actually from Mexico (the large men's watch). Trades that I'd be interested in are for firearms and more specifically .22's, 9mm's, and 12G.'s. Maybe optics or other hunting gear too. Let me know what you've got. I'm not really interested in shipping. I did the eBay thing once and it was more hassle than it was worth. I'm in the East Valley and would be willing to meet within say twenty miles of my home. If you'd like to see better pictures or closeups of a particular piece PM me your number and I will text them to you. Edit: I just added a few more things. One ring is gone. A friend bought it. The three small bracelets in the eighth and ninth pictures are spoken for by a member from this site. I will be meeting him at Bass Pro on Saturday the 28th if anyone else wants to meet me there. Casey asked about earrings and I had said I didn't have anymore, but I guess I lied. I found a few pairs left in the bottom of a bag with a few other women's items. That is what I'm posting that is new. Casey gets first dibs on any since he asked. Also I had a question about sizes on the men's rings. They are as follows from left to right: first ring is gone, second is a 10.5, third is a 9.5, fourth is a 13.5 almost 14 (it's big and weighs a lot too) last one is a 10.5.
  7. It was nice meeting you Glen. Hope your wife likes the bracelets. Casey you have a PM.
  8. Thanks for the vote of confidence. You are absolutely correct about the prices. I am selling it for what he paid for the stuff from the artists in the late seventies to late nineties. This was when silver was three to five dollars an ounce. I have actually sold to dealers at these prices and they take his prices off and add another ten to thirty percent. I was recently at the gem show in Tucson and the prices have really gone up again. If you want those earrings Casey PM me and we can work out how to get them to you. They will be 30$ for the two pair.
  9. All of the earrings are 15$ unless you buy something else then they will be 10$. The last pair probably should be more than 15$ but there is no price on them so I'm putting them at the same as the others. Those last couple of bracelets I put on should fit her or several of the ones in the third set of pics.

  11. No sorry all of the small stuff went a long time ago. This is just some of the bigger more expense pieces that are left. I tell you what though that small bracelet is only marked at 39$ retail. I'll give it to you for twenty bucks if your interested. In fact I'll drop everything from 60% to 50% for all the Coues whitetail family. And just like last time I'll donate something to Amanda for the site. Edit: I just did the math and half of 39 is 19.50 so how about 19$ for the little bracelet. If I remember it is small so needs to be for a petite lady.

    Monsters!

Wow you've seen twenty. That's amazing. I've lived here all my life and only seen two live ones and one dead one on the road.

    OLD Winchester Found!

I doubt it was ever buried because it would have been in way worse shape. What I think is that the tree was small and bushy when the rifle was leaned up against it and grew up taller while the gun stay in the same spot. It would be nice to see a pic of the tree where it rested. This might help explain its presence. If it were there for any length of time no matter how slow the tree grew it would leave a mark in the bark. I do agree on how slow these trees can grow though. Something about the Great Basin desert in general things grow slow and live long lives there. Look at the bristle one pines that aren't mich bigger than a medium sized piñon tree but are thousands of years old.

I have a Bear bow that I would like to trade if you are interested. It's in great condition and I've probably only pulled the string back maybe a hundred times. Have a case and a sling, whisker biscuit and about a dozen arrows six of which are brand new. Pm me for details if interested.
  16. http://www.modernhiker.com/2014/10/21/instagram-artist-defaces-national-parks/ Hope this link works. Apparently it is being investigated by the National Park service. She went on a tour of some of the best parks in the west and defaced them by putting some really ugly artwork on the rocks with acrylic paint. When called out of Facebook or whatever site she posted on for using permanent paint she said "I know I'm bad ". Now she is deleting her pics and trying to hide. I hope they catch her and make her clean every last ugly piece on her own dime.
  17. I know some of you out there will come back with 'you should have done it earlier' but it still is a week until the deadline and I can't get the page to load. Anyone else having issues loading the page?

    Elk in Blythe, CA??

Does anybody have the pic of the bull in the creosote flats near Tucson from a few years ago? Crazy critters get around.
  19. Crazy! I just finally got through and finished my application. It only took three different computers and five different browsers and probably forty times of it kicking me out, mostly on steps 3 and 9. Glad that's over for another four months. Can't wait for Elk and Antelope. Hopefully it works better next time and I get to it sooner. It shouldn't be this hard!
  20. I guess because it's Tuesday and maybe people think the deadline is today or maybe people like me thinking, 'Oh I better get this done I only have a week left'.

Looking for a knife making class

I have made about twenty over the past four or five years. I buy the knife blanks because they are so economical. I have a friend that will let me smith one on his equipment but the time it takes and the quality I could make isn't worth it to me. I can buy blanks in town or on the web for anywhere from ten to fifty dollars and they will be a lot better than what I could make. I do enjoy putting the scales on them though. I even make my own mosaic pins out of different metals from the hobby area of Ace hardware. They have the correct size brass rod or you can make a bullseye pattern out of different metals with varying sizes of brass aluminum and copper tube and rod. You can also buy really intricate mosaic pins on the web. The three I have here are my latest. I also make the leather sheaths for them. The first one is a skinner blank I got from Woodcraft in Chandler and put some maple burl I got off a knot on a Rocky Mountain maple in unit 23. The second is a Gerber knife I got at a yard sale for a dollar. It had a plastic handle on it so I replaced it with a ten cent piece of fiddle back(Lacey) maple from the ten cent bin at timber machinery in Mesa. With the leather supplies I probably have less than two dollars into this knife and I love it. The last one is another blank from Woodcraft and the wood is Padauk that I had laying around. Finally I included some grips I made for my buckmark pistol out of Bolivian Rosewood recently. I think they turned out pretty good although I might make another set with some wood that has a little more figure in it. Over all I find it really rewarding to do this and they make great gifts as you can see I have given most away. If you have any questions shoot me a pm and I'll see if I can help. PS: the process is a lot faster with a band saw ,drum and disc sander, and a drill press.
  22. Here is my experience with band tails.I have hunted them three times in three different years in three different places. All three times I scouted and found birds where there was both water and acorns. Also large snags of ponderosa were a key it seemed like. I'm talking really tall dead trees. They liked a great look out way high up. My total for these three trips and probably 20 hours of hunting was exactly zero birds and two spent shells. I would recommend number six shot and high brass at a minimum. I am actually using some three inch magnum pheasant loads I found the next time I go out. No other bird hunting including turkey reminds me of a big game hunt as much as these bastages. Have fun and post pics if you get lucky.

Check out this Pink Rattlesnake from Ben Avery

Arizona Black. Part of that aforementioned Western Rattlesnake group. I've seen them as high as 7,200' in elevation. And before someone tries to correct me and say it is a timber rattler those only occur east of the Mississippi. I can't remember how many times I've seen someone say this on this site. Heck, even my Dad used to call these timbers.

    FS Ruger Mini 14

Would you be interested in any archery equipment? I have a brand new popup blind and a bow with everything that was over $600 new. Basically never used. Sighted in and practiced and took on one hunt.
