Wow Orlin, I have known you for a long time and it just dawned on me; you really do look like Mike Row from 'Dirty Jobs'. LOL By the way congratulations on a really nice Bobcat. I would have died if I had been shot in the junk (poor cat, what a way to go)! Who did you take it too?

This was one of my favorite places to hunt. Chef and I went up there a couple of times. Had a lot of fun chasing critters around up there. I wonder how many people will be up there every day now? -
Group Bonus Points occur in the Big Game Draw when 2 to 4 applicants apply on 1 hunt application. Group bonus points are calculated by adding the species bonus points, loyalty bonus point, and hunter education bonus point for each applicant on an application and dividing that total by the number of applicants. The Department shall use the average number of bonus points accumulated by the individuals in the group, rounded to the nearest whole number. If the average has decimal digits equal to or greater than .5, the total will be rounded to the next higher number otherwise it is rounded down

Bobcats are very beautiful animals. Congratulations on a very nice one! I really like hearing of and seeing the hunts with the youth hunters, keep taking them out.

Hello All, My name is Neil Traver; I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and I do taxes. I mainly work with income taxes (mostly corporate, but I can do individual). I also have a strong background in sales and use taxes. If anybody has any questions relating to their tax situation let me know. I thought this would be an appropriate time to post this due to the upcoming income tax season.

Congratulations on a fantasic buck. We talk about a buck being unique every once in a while, but wow, I think you just took the cake with that one. I have actually seen a nice Mule deer buck rutting with a Coues deer. Now I guess I have seen the aftermath.

This is a new plate that will be available in February. Personally I think this thing looks fantasic, I dont know the whole story, however, I understand this was a long time coming. Part of the money paid to purchase the plate will go to Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife (AZSFW). http://www.arizonasportsmenforwildlife.org/index.asp I just might get one.

Amazing deer, and really cool that he found it. I am gonna guess 122.5" -
I know this comes a little late, however, congratulations on a real good bull. What unit are you going to put in for this year? Or are you going to just start accumulating points for a while?
-
Congratulations on a great kill. I love sticking pigs with my bow. I like the photo as well. Is this your first bow kill? Or just your first kill with the new bow? Keep doing it, we love to see photos, and read the stories.

Your the man. Any time you can find a Coues thats over 100" you have accomplished something very special. I saw this picture this morning on the Arizona Game and Fish site too. Amanda, I saw your pig photo on the Arizona Game and Fish site as well.

Thats awesome! I loved the story. I waited to look at the pictures until after I read the whole story, it made the story even better. That left antler has some really neat curl to it, it almost looks like a Coues. Dont think your done with deer for the year. You can still buy a tag over the counter in Colorado. And you can still put in for a New Mexico Coues! Good luck on the pigs, and a super huge congratulations.

I am with Lark on this one. I have shot seven pigs in as many years. Luckily after year one, I found a guy that likes to eat them stink pigs. I get the joy of going out and hunting them, and then I just hand over the gutted beast to a willing recipient. By the way Congratulations Hammy! Its not everybody who has the guts to admit he missed. Stink pigs are one of my favorite things to pursue, and I have missed my fair share of them. Good luck going forward. I hope to see some photos soon.

The photos above dont do him much justice. I am not very good at using the camera to show off the antlers like a lot of you are. Here is one more photo of where he lay. It shows his forks a little better. By the way, what do you think he will score? He is very symmetrical (almost identical on both sides).

Thanks for sharing the story. Archery Javelina is one of my favorite hunts each year (probably because they usually let you take more than just one shot). Stink pigs never seem to amaze me with their speed, and their ability to disapear into thin air. I too have had pigs move completely out of the way before the arrow could get there. I once watched my brother-in-law shoot his whole quiver of arrows at a heard, then reloaded his quiver with my arrows and shot all of my arrows. Then he went and started picking up the previously shot arrows and started shooting them a second time. He never did get a pig. But we still both laugh pretty hard about it when we talk about it. Congratulations on a successful archery hunt. Anytime you can put an animal down with a bow you should be very proud of yourself.

Chef thanks for posting the photos. Okay so here is the story. I got drawn in unit 20B for stink pigs (this is a new area for me). So I drove up there opening morning and found a nice little null that I could glass from. I sat there and glassed for a while with no luck so I decided to move to a new location. I found a new null that looked equally as promising as the first, however, when I got up there and set up all I could find in the binos were other hunters. I decided I would try the other side of the ridge, and right after setting up I found this guy strolling through the brush, occasionally stopping to rub his antlers on the trees. I watched him for about fifteen minutes hoping he would bed down to no avail. He walked out of my sight behind a small ridged, and I decided if I was going to get a chance at him I had better get down there and find him. I hiked down to a small ravine that I thought he might come through and started moving pretty slowly just in case he was there. Suddenly, I heard a crack and I looked up the ridge and there he was. He was looking for me as well, apparently I wasn’t as quiet as I thought I was. Fortunately he was not able to locate me, and after a several minute standoff he decided that I was a perhaps a doe. He walked up the ridge away from me a couple of steps and behind some brush, while he was moving I took my opportunity of hiding behind a nice little Palo Verde. While I was moving I made some noise, and he was able to see where I was. In the meantime a second buck (a forked horn) came over to join his bigger buddy, he too decided that I was perhaps a doe and wanted to get a closer look at me. So the two of them turned around and slowly (took about 1o minutes) came down the ridge to look at me. The smaller one stepped out into a clearing about twenty yards away and looked right at me. I could have shot him, but decided I would try my luck (and I am lucky) to see if big brother would follow suit. Sure enough about a minute later big brother decided he just couldn’t do without his own look at me. When he got the front half of his body out in the clearing far enough I put the pin on his vitals and let one fly. The arrow flew true, but to my dismay it hit a little Palo Verde tree branch right in front of him and deflected the arrow. The arrow deflected right up and through his throat. The buck jumped and bucked, then ran about 80 yards to stop and look at me. I just sagged my head and looked at him and thought to myself “crap, I just wounded this fine deer, and now he is going to be wounded for the rest of the rut”. Just then the bucks’ knees started to wobble and he turned around to face uphill, when he tried to jump up the ridge he fell backwards and piled up. I was so excited I could hardly contain myself. I waited for a while to make sure he wasn’t getting up, and when I finally had a chance to go check him out I noticed the arrow had cut right through the jugular. After that I phoned my brother-in-law who had just arrived at my pickup by the road, and let him know what had happened. He was pretty elated as well, however, he didn’t believe me for quite a while. Anyway, I walked back to the truck and emptied my pack so I could go back for the deer with an empty bag. My brother-in-law had brought his kids along, and I showed them where I shot the buck and let them blood trail it, they were very excited when they finally found it. I am normally a Coues deer hunter; I only hunt the Mules with my bow, and I thought some of you might enjoy the story and the photos. P.S. I am heading back out to see if I can stick me a stink pig soon.

Well I am brand new to this site although I have done quite a bit of reading on here in the past. I just decided to sign in and start sharing the good times that I had this past hunt. Down in 34B. I will try to post some pics of this years critter for you all to enjoy. I guess I will let you guys guess what he grosses before I tell ya all. The first pic is a field photo of where he lay the second is of my bro-in-law holing his head and cape up so you can get a better idea of tine and beam lenght. Enjoy

Hey thanks for all the comments everybody. I think it was bert who posted that he got drawn for 34b December hunt. Good luck on your hunt there were a lot of people in there this year. I dont know how many of them grey ghosts will be left. Good luck to all of you. Oh yea some of you are pretty good at scoring deer from a picture. He scores right about 90'. Not a record Coues but good enough for the Taxidermy man to mount for me. So when he gets all done sometime next year, I will post another picture of him. Good luck to the rest of you on your upcoming hunts. I have an elk tag for AZ 7W in three weeks that I am getting pretty pumped up for. Knifeboy

Thanks guys, The gun is a 300RUM withe a 26' barrel. Its quite a bit of overkill for the little Coues deer. But I used it because my .270 just got back from the repair shop and I didnt have a chance to sight it in. Oh well all is well and I got my buck. Any guesses on the Score? Knifeboy
