Premade sandwiches, cut fruit in tupperwares, breakfast bars or cereal. Dinner is soups, corn bread, tin foil dinners and Dutch oven rolls.

In my experience, spooked or wounded, as long as you are not pushing them, they will only run as far as they need to create distance and find shelter to hide in. There has been many time I seen them jump, sprint or bounce to the next hill and then go into stealth mode and walk another 100 yards. I think they do that because they know they can't see you and know your far away but are unsure of danger up ahead. Give it some time and glass at dusk and dawn in the area. If it's not dead i'll bet you find it again within a mile.

saw the same thing last night. A caravan of trucks and quads with gun racks and campers. Its hard not to take it personally when I don't have a tag. In my experience the biggest difference with the hunts is the location of the birds. The early hunt most are still lower and toward the end of the hunts more birds are in their summer areas.

That was my understanding of the program as well. G&F keep the money and the Tag in return for the points.
