A few questions for those that use them:
Have any of you that have used these seen any difference in your grouping at different yard'age particularlly long range?
Do they add or decrease the feet per second flight of your arrows?
I am sure people have commented on this on other sites but I trust CWT opinons more

I respect the right people have to own an opinon however that does not mean I respect their opinon. I think that if people actually feel that a ban baiting is really going to stop the spread of disease than you are kidding yourself.
I know that the G&F employees are outdoorsman/women as well but that does not mean they all agree with this either and even if they did what difference would it make.
The point is that this is one more law and one more restriction if it goes through, I understand that it is a proposal for now. All laws began as a proposal.
OpticsNerd you say- "Wow...scare tactics"----- the only thing that scares me are snakes and Zombies (snakes don't have legs...how do they move?)
I get annoyed with my fellow citizen who are more than happy to have someone else regulate their lives. THANK YOU to those fellow CWT members and non-members who are able to attend these day meetings and voice their concerns.

I like the idea that some people have of positioning the camera high if possible and angling it downward...gives great photos and better depth to the antlers. This also eliminated the possiblity of having the camera to high or low. Personally I have picked up to many of my own cameras with photos of the sky and/or ground so I always have a card reader with me and take a couple of pictures of myself and look at them before leaving the area. Just as mentioned above a test photo keeps you from being disappointed. I just make sure I clear the card before I leave to give me maximum card space. Better luck next time.

Just got back from a week long camping trip in unit 1. Saw many many elk and a few real trophy bulls. It is raining up there every day right now and the bugs are terrible so don't forget the bug nets/repellant.
Saw some big bucks as well so the archery hunt should not disappoint.
Also saw 3-4 different people scounting the same feilds over and over again with spotting scopes (they need to find a new spot haha).
There is also a huge logging project taking place in some areas so be aware...if you have not scouted and are planning on hunting in those areas you are not going to find very many animals. There also seems to be MANY more cattle in some areas....the ranchers I am assuming are using this area more since the wallow fire burnt out a lot of land.

Very good info. Pack it out if you can if not, hang it up and wait until morning. Use a game bag if possible but if not hanging raw meat does not hurt it much. People have done it for thousands of years...not much has changed. Find shade and do your best to process the animal in a timely manner. Good luck to you!

I would have to agree with naturegirl...the Ruger LCP is a great little handgun to carry. My question would be is this something that she just wants to have in the house or something that she will be carrying with her?
I bought a Taurus Judge Magnum for my wife as home protection....for those nights I am out hunting
. It is my new favoriate handgun! I have had glock's and springfeilds as well as a beretta's for duty weapons however I am very impressed with this judge. Its just a thought. The 45colt & .410 buckshot kicks the most out of the barrell however it kicks no more than a compact semi-auto handgun (this is my wife's opinon). Again, the judge is not practicle for concealed carrying (for anyone) but its something to think about. I just wanted something small that could easily go though a wall/door if she needed it.

Excellent information everyone, thank you... I was unaware of these other programs ya'l mentioned.
I am going to sight in/break in a new rifle today and see how it preforms up too 500yards and wanted to put some of these programs to the test.

I saw this mentioned in another thread and instead of hi-jacking it I figured I would ask the question.
Which ballistic calculators do you use? I down loaded one for my android phone called "Strelok" and I have yet to use it....seems to be pretty detailed.
Anyone found something thats better or that works well for them?

Yeah thats for sure Chris, I have two out right now and am praying that they are still there. It's a small celebratory event when I walk up and there still there. I will be pulling mine this weekend.
Haha! True that...that last 10 yards before my cams become visible I have a lump in my throat wondering if they are still there.

+1 to the Nikon....hard to beat the glass for the price. I have a Bushnell scope and like it but I would pick up a Nikon in a heart beat....and if I had the money I would look at other brands such as Vortex or Swaro.
By the way....there is no such thing as over kill on any gun

Yes they can. They are more likely to ticket someone for salt vs a mineral lick though. Just all depends. I typed up a cross reference a few months ago if you want the specifics under coues deer hunting in AZ entitled "laws regarding baiting". Not that I am a know it all just better when we are educated on what we can and cannot do

I would have just wrestled it to teach it a lesson...it seems a bit out of my weight class but I would have gone easy on it.

In a class I took awhile back I was told (just like those above) that this type of thing does happen most of the time due to an injury. The teacher then explained further that anter growth is directly tied too testosterone not just water/mineral content in the animals diet.
So yes it can be passed on by genetics also because testosterone abnormalities can be passed to off-spring but it can also be that a male had his (man parts) injured at some point effecting his testosterone production. In like manner (if I understand correctly) this is why female deer, elk etc have been known to produce antlers as it was passed genetically also.

The blades are for the havalon are thin but they are for cutting. If you are planning on going through bones then yes have a bone or hacksaw available.
That is why these knives are so nice when caping or just cutting...they are thin and can make are those difficult small cuts. I can honestly say that when I have been using them I have never thought to myself "I wish I had a thicker/stronger blade." I have not had one break on me or anything...maybe someone else has had a different experience.

Great advice from both speedy and 6A,
I have both actually- the Havalon and the Swing Blade. To be perfectly honest I love my swing blade, last Oct. I had my coues cleaned and quatered and butchered in 45 min. and packed away in a cooler. I was very impressed with it and it is still sharp as can be (actually used it on 2 deer that hunting trip). However, the Havlon series is much more practicle and yes, you do not have to worry about resharpening it.
While I prefer my Havalon Knife I would not hesitate to use my swing blade. You'll spend less on a lower end havalon with an extra pack of blades which will last you a while. I have a buck knife as well and their steel holds a sharp edge with the best of them but agian, just like the swing blade you will have to sharpen it eventually.
Oh, and plus the havalon is excellent when cutting for a cape....small and precise.

Seriously! A virus on the sim card is a great idea, you know that is one of the first things they will do...take out the sim card and pop it into the camera to see what's on it.

I have a pair of Nikon Travel lite Zoom lenses...I really like this pair of binos and they are small. I have always been happy with the purchase

Ya try and make a combo hit....pepper spray and then the gun powder to drive the point home. Do any of these cameras have a tracking systems such as cells phones when they track the sim card in them? I have heard of plenty of people looking up their stolen phones and tracking them unless they are broken when the theif takes it.

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to use swaro's and Vortex (along with my own Nikons) for glassing/scouting. I am sold on the Vortex!
My wife's uncle had a pair and they were better than my Nikons (I am still a nikon fan though) and they were every bit as good as the swaro's in my opinon and MUCH less expensive. I got to use all these for a week in Unit 1 and will be purchasing Vortex when I get the money. Just great quality for the price.
