    Hardest hunt in years!

Great story and congrats on getting a javelina. That sucks that your camp got raided though.

    brownies come hard...

I went out today and just found an old white. I did lots of hiking and saw quiet a few shed hunters. I rarely do any good this early in the horn hunting season. Now days you about have to catch the antler as it comes off the elk. Oh well it's fun, and I will be back at it.

    Guide Schools

I could be totally wrong but I believe that Dwayne Adams of Arizona Big Game Hunting offers a guiding apprentice program. Also I remember something about Matt Schimberg of A3 outfitters doing something similar. If I was going to become a guide, I would be wanting to learn from an experienced guide. All that it will do is make you a better guide and prepare you for what you're getting into.

Results of Arizona Wildlife Outfitters 2016 Big Pig contest!

I would put a guess out that the higher success for the two tag hunters is that they really, really like to pig hunt, and put more time and effort into their hunts. Who knows but that's just my guess. 19b was a fun unit to hunt pigs in until they locked a lot of it up. When I used to hunt 19b it seemed like the pigs were a little bigger on average than what I've seen in 18b. But who knows I never weighed them and that's just my thought from what I've seen from hunting 19b.

That's a lot of pigs taken in unit 18b. Pretty cool data that you record from your hunts.

    20a tag soup

Sounds like you had a good hunt. I also saw some nice bucks on my pig hunt this year. I know of a couple of other hunters that also saw some nice bucks on their pig hunts too.

Congrats on getting a couple javelina.

    19a??? No javis

Javelina can be a pain to find for sure. It seems like once you eventually locate a herd or two, you have a hot spot that you can hunt year after year if you wanted to. I've never hunted unit 19a so I'm not much help. Good luck on your hunt.

Wolf news hits close to home

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. There's obviously some stupid people out there. Once you give them an inch they take a mile. Man this boils my blood.

Hunting stereotypes- Best thing I've seen in a while.

The ones that cracked me up the most on the hunting one was the Mr. Hardcore, Sammy orange, the hunter that thinks he sounds good with his call, and the I'll go out tomorrow one. I know some Mr. hardcores lol. When someone you're hunting with thinks that their call sounds good and it doesn't it drives me nuts. Also when you get in a good area to hunt and while getting out they slam the door or start talking real loud. Some other ones that I thought they nailed were the the gym, golf, and street basketball videos. The my bad guy.. lol. Good stuff!

    New Mexico turkey hunting?

We've gotten quiet a few birds out of New Mexico in the past. To this day I still can't decide which state is better turkey hunting between Arizona and New Mexico. I seem to do well in both states, and get on birds on every hunt in each state. On my hunts I seem to get older birds in Arizona more often than New Mexico. I'm not sure why that is, and it could be just the area I hunt. The last time I went to New Mexico I believe that it was a around a hundred dollars for the out of state turkey tag, and ten dollars for the additional tag. Although the prices could have changed since I've been there. If you get the second tag it's worth the additional ten bucks to extend your hunt. If you decide to hunt New Mexico have fun on your hunt and I don't think you'll regret it.

    El nino

Here's how Flagstaff is doing this winter so far. Flagstaff has seen 12.61 inches of precipitation since September 1st, 2015 to now. By this time last year Flagstaff was at 10.02 inches of precipitation. The normal value is 10.29 inches for this current date. So that makes Flagstaff 2.32 inches of precipitation above average currently and 2.59 inches of precipitation above last year. So we're doing better than last year and still above average for precipitation. For Flagstaff since September 1st Flagstaff has seen 71.7 inches of snow. The normal value for this current date is 58.6 inches. So Flagstaff is 13.1 inches of snow above average in snowfall. Last year Flagstaff had 29.7 inches of snow at this current date. So Flagstaff has had 42 inches more in snowfall this year than last year at this current time. So this year we're getting storms more in the form of snow than rain compared to last year. So I think that for at least the Flagstaff area it's doing pretty good, but I'm not sure about other specific areas of the state. I would take a tag this year over last year so far.

    Dates, Moon Phase and Archery

It goes through my mind when I apply but I put in for archery every year no matter what the dates are. Although I prefer the start dates to be around the 14th or 15th of September.
