The only ones hunting the Rez is A3 ! It came straight out of Shawn Wagners mouth today ! The case has been turned over to U.S Fish and Wildlife ! As for bc777 200 inch buck its all circumstantial evidence with no merrit. Ill bet anybody on here anything they want to lose he gets it back .

Your dads a poacher and a liar, your brother is a poacher, liar and thief . . . How far from the tree did you fall?

Hopefully that sheep is cleaner than that poached muley.

My dad is a poacher ? You have no idea who my father is . Let me tell you a few things about my dad ! My parents have been married for 42 years . My father is one of the most amazing men on this planet ! They broke the mold with him . I have heard my dad cuss one time in his life and he said dang (is that even a cuss word ) ? My father is very active in his church and has has some of the highest calling there are . He is a school board member , fire board member and a well respected member of the community. So to say he is a poacher and a lair couldnt be farther from the truth ! O yeah another thing my father taught me was not to shoot a 300 bull on a 3c hunt .

Just answer one question . . . did your dad know where Blake shot that buck?

Oh his brother does. Ask G&F

I drove from Mesa to Payson this morning to go fishing with my son and only recall seeing one sign. My sinus was stuffed up and my ears couldn't pop with the altitude change and about by Barnhardt it go so bad my vision got bad so I pulled over and let him drive. Almost lost my balance walking around the truck and had to hold on to it because my equlibrian was off.

Made it into Payson and stopped for coffee and a breakfast croissant at Bosa Donut and it was still giving me a problem so decided to come back down to Mesa.

That sucks. Where were you planning on going. Mostly everything is closed.

We were going to go to Willow Springs. He likes it there and I was going to fish off the shore while he Kayaked. I might also get one this summer. On the way back we were coming up that last long hill about 7:00 and near the top there was a DPS vehicle blocking off the left lane with about 15 cones. Two women and a guy were standing next to a car on it's roof in the medium. It hit the guardrail and they looked ok but the younger woman was crying. That is a sharp S Turn on a downhill and they must have lost control coming out of the last turn and hit the guardrail and flipped it as the medium has a bit of a drop off. Lost of people take that turn close to 80mph. They are lucky to be alive, very lucky. It probably happened just a short time before we came up on them. A couple of miles after we past the turnoff for Four Peaks I saw an Ambulance and then a Fire Truck on there way, lights off.

Are Willow springs and woods canyon open right now?
    yes

Just burn it all down and let's start over...

isnt it not burning naturally the reason these so much fuel in the first place? Its hard to understand that the small town folks seem to think only they are responsible enough to use the forest. The rest of us are the tax base that pays the lions share of operations and maintenance cost right?
If we start a fire here it burns our house down. It doesnt burn yours down. So naturally those that have more to lose than just the trees are going to be more careful. And were more inclined to want it closed so there isnt a fire no matter who starts it. Also last I checked when the forest closes we all are locked out of it so not like they are letting locals use it and out of towners can't.
    Exactly

  6. Shocker. Feel for all working on this beast and those who have lost homes. Had a group of illegals who thought it was smart to have a camp fire in middle of the day down by haigler sat with 30 mph winds. Forest service solved that one

  7. Thanks for everyones advice. I purchased a 94 Grumman 14 foot v hull boat. Came with the matching trailer, 18hp Evinrude 2 stroke outboard, anchor, new tires and wheels, new gas tank, new siphon/gas line and oil.

Not sure if I'll keep the Evinrude, I have a 55lb thrust Minn Kota trolling motor I plan on using. The boats been sitting for 6 years, it's in great shape, just needs a good clean up and going through the motor.

Any recommendations for a full cover? I was thinking about buying a giant tarp to cover the boat and trailer. What material is best?

Nice job. Dont forget those rim lakes only allow 10hp and under.

Here is an update from our meeting last night.

I'll give you all a little background and I hope it helps clarify.

When we(ADBSS) and other groups learned the HSUS was going to file for the petition to get the cat hunting ban on the ballot we took action. The plan to combat the initiative was developed by the group of folks that are now on the board of Conserve and Protect. Conserve and Protect was not even an organization when this all came down the pipe many months ago, it was simply a group of guys from miscellaneous organizations putting together a plan to fight HSUS. We, along with some other groups agreed to help with the financial burden of that initial plan. When we had to take action in order to try and fight, we did, and we won. Conserve and Protect hadn't even been formed, but the guys that developed the plan now sit on the board of C&P. . Make no mistake, the folks that now are on the board of C&P had an instrumental part in fighting and beating HSUS.

    Moving to today....

Conserve and Protect was just officially(paperwork finalized) started a few weeks, maybe a month ago, not exactly sure. They have now formed their board and are putting together the plan for what's next. They are truly a work in progress and we intend to be engaged in that conversation. They came to our board meeting last night to inform us where they are and what the next step is.

Some organizations have financially committed to the next step but we did not feel as a board that we had enough information and the next step is still in the planning stages. We as a board understand the importance of what comes next. We as a collective group of hunters cannot be as unprepared to fight HSUS or other groups as we recently were. We believe HSUS will be back and we need to have a plan already in place.

I will only briefly try to articulate the next step. It is basically a two stage approach. Please direct your questions about the Conserve and Protect plan to the info email they have provided.

Stage 1 - Raise money to educate the public on the importance of Wildlife Management. This is where the potential use of tag raffles and auctions come in. The funds from the Tags would be used for this cause. The money would not be held within Conserve and Protect rather it would be similar to the HPC process.

Stage 2 - Build resources within Conserve and Protect to fight . Have a group in place that is able to do the things needed that critter groups such as ours cannot do. ADBSS is concerned about Sheep, AES is concerned about Elk, ADA is concerned about deer.... critter groups are not able to fight the "HSUS" type pf political fights, neither is AZGFD.

If you do not know how the plan came together to defeat HSUS, I challenge that you are not involved enough. Only one person showed up last night that doesn't attend the meetings regularly.

Call me with any questions or comments, I hope this information is helpful.

    Andy St John

    ADBSS President

    602-881-0610

Please stop saying well only one person came to the meeting. It helps when the meeting isnt announced hours before and then the meeting is actually moved forward an hour. If they are wanting transparency their two first meeting have been a secret and that doesn't look good starting off.

I agree that we need a funding source. But we don't need auction tags to get there. Raffling off tags will get the money needed. If there is an auction tag take one of them from the already two per species we have. One can go to the habitat like it does already and one can go to this new fund. As soon as more auction tags are suggested noone is going to want that because that was the whole reason behind the tag grab last time. Now a lot of the same people that did it last time are a part of it again but saying it's different this time. Just hard to trust any of it at this time.

Post up the next meeting that we actually have more than 3 hours to plan to get there and you'll get plenty of people to show up and ask tough questions.

Your on Coues 500 times a day and cant take time to look at their websites for information? What am I missing? You can update your Facebook status and Instagram every minute of the day but cant do a little research into the conservation groups for a sport you so dearly love? Sounds a little narsasistic to me.

  9. I talked to Dave again and he explained in further detail that basically any money from any tag or fee from azgfd cant be used to fight political fights even if it's against themselves. Dumb but apparently that's the law and the state would get sued. Also all the money from big game super raffle is all allocated to wildlife habitat projects as of right now. Don't know why they couldnt change that though.

He said as of right now they're talking about possibly removing one of the auction tags and turning it into a unit specific auction tag that only can be hunted during a particular season and that money would be able to be given to this new fund. He also said they would auction off 1 lower quality October coues and other lower quality tags and that money would be given to this new fund. Claimed there would never be any new state wide auction tags or any extra high quality hunts auctioned off.

Then regarding the raffe of tags they would definitely have some sort of limit on number of tags. Possibly as low as 1 tickets per person for each drawing. He said none of the tags will be taken out of the regular hunt tag pools.

Just passing on the info and I'm sure Jay will have more answers after the meeting but I'll have to wait til final drafts to believe what they're gonna try and do.

Nothing like the main village idiot getting it. Dave needed to spell it out for you.

  10. Guys-

I have a follow question and answer session with Pete Cimallero today about last nights meeting in which you can hear on episode 423 of my podcast. I have a bunch of questions to ask him. If you have a specific question that you would like answered please post them here and I will do my best to get all of the questions answered. I will then be posting our conversation in its entirety on my podcast so that we call all try to be informed as possible. I would ask all Sportsman to hear all of the facts and then form and make an informed decision. At the meeting last night, they were adamant that they want this to be completely transparent and open for discussion among Sportsman unlike the last thing similar to this in 2012. I for one understand as Sportsman that we are facing numbers of issues from many people who want to see our heritage of hunting going away. Lets get all of the facts then each individual can make their mind up. I was sick to see Grizzly Bear hunting in BC go away just by it getting on the ballot. I'm afraid we could easily see something similar happen in our near future. There will be additional meetings on this where the public sportsman is encouraged to come. Last night their was only 12 sportsman who showed up. I'm trying to get as much info out to your guys as possible.

Please post your specific questions and I will do my best to get them all answered

In all fairness, Pete Cimallero has probably done more for the wildlife in the state of Arizona on a complete volunteer basis than anyone I know. For probably 30 plus years. I think all of his ideas and commentary need to be fully listened to before jumping to conclusions. I'm not saying you have to agree with him at all BUT I do believe he has earned the right to be listened to and respected for what he has done for all of us Sportsman.

I know this is a very complex and complicated issue. I would ask everyone to at least be respectful of ALL opinions. For the record, I was at some of the meetings last time and heard Pete with my own ears voice his opinion against what was being proposed. I'm sure there is a reason now that his opinion has changed. I will be diligent to find out what is different now.

There is a presentation tonight at Embassy Suites 5001 N. Scottsdale, AZ 7pm at Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society. Please go out an get fully informed.

Jay you may need to write it in crayon so these idiots can understand what is actually at stake here. Its amazing every single wild life conservation group in the state is trying to stop HSUS yet no one in the hunting community wants to do anything to help out. Just sad. If we dont do something and help out then hunting will change as we know it in 3-5 years.

  11. Well Tommy Martin of Gila County is pushing the forest service to close tonto national forest do to extreme fire danger. I agree with this do to the fact I live in the middle of the tinder box, and some people come up here and don't give a shoot about the forest we all use. So here's the question if they close the forest now does this mean no turkey season, what are your thoughts.

Right there with you Dennis. Our property back the national forest and when these idiots think they need a camp fire when its 70 degrees its just a recipe for disaster. Im sure when this is brought in front or the administration and they deny it for economic reasons and then one erupts and takes out a community its ground for class action. Most of these citidiots just dont understand how dry it is and just how fast it can go up.
