  1. With the gut-less method, how do you dig out the inner loins???

A slit along the short ribs , reach in and peel them out! EZ PZ

    .

As to the other comments directed towards my post.... I did not invent this method it's actually ancient ....

The gutless method puts less meat a risk to contamination from bile, urine or feces... Of coarse the meat can be striped from the ribs or neck with this method why wouldn't you??... The neck is a long way from the guts!!!!....I just dont like digging around in a critters gutsack for no reason!! Nothin in there i want !!! I suppose there a some who think of gutting as a rite of passage or want to drink the bile or somthing...WOOT WOOT!

I know its hard to break old habits but I learned/was shown this method about 15 years ago and I was amazed that you really don't have to gut a deer/elk to take ALL the important meat off carcass. I supose there are some who will say they boil the vertebrea to make soup! But like i say I usually leave the ribs and gutsack laying out for the scavengers!

I believe the regs read "edible" meat.... Well there are lots of parts of animals that I don't eat and I aint Jewish/Kosher ...Another gray area that would be up to the discresion of a LEO if he doe's find my gutsak , backbone and ribs!!! How about cleaninig the crap out of the intestines then shove that valuable rib meat into them for some ecoli breakfast sausage bufhntr! NOT ME PAL!

  2. I always use the gutless method... Why even touch the guts or bladder, nothin in there I want!Always end up with 4 verry clean quarters backstraps and tenderloins! Whith a gutsack still attached to the ribs left on the ground, Whith a deer I leave the ribs for the scavengers and with an elk I may take the ribs depending on how far of a hike out to the road! Old pillow cases work great for meat bag!

Once you go gutless you never will do it any other way!

  3. By Hasani Gittens and Elizabeth Chuck, NBC News

President Obama called on the nation to honor Trayvon Martin a day after George Zimmerman was acquitted of his murder by asking "ourselves if we're doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence."

His comments came as family members of Zimmerman and Martin, as well as pundits, celebrities, and court observers had strong reactions to Saturday’s not guilty verdict, with those reactions taking various forms — from joy and outrage to Shakespearean references and calls for peace.

"I now ask every American to respect the call for calm reflection from two parents who lost their young son. And as we do, we should ask ourselves if we're doing all we can to widen the circle of compassion and understanding in our own communities," Obama said in a statement on Sunday.

"We should ask ourselves if we're doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis. We should ask ourselves, as individuals and as a society, how we can prevent future tragedies like this. As citizens, that's a job for all of us. That's the way to honor Trayvon Martin."

Obama....every time you open your mouth. It is the sound of a flushing toilet. Since when has self defense become gun violence?

Its gun violence because Zimmerman is part white! The whitey devil part of Zimmerman made him do violence on the Black man child! NOT!

I guess the race card didn't work due to the mix and the jurrers looked at the facts and make a verdict of NOT GUILTY!

Looking at it from a different angle ,if George Zimmmermans mother stayed in Peru she would never have gave birth to him so immigration caused Treynons death!!!

  4. Don't shoot it if you cant get it out!

One day you might be 75 years old and still want to hunt or take your grandchild hunting.

    Just a thought.

There will come a day when I will no longer hunt!!! Then I will have to beg for a hunk of venison! Even now I welcome help when I have a animal down meanwhile while waiting for old age to set in I will quater & pack & help others to do so when asked!

  5. Don't shoot it if you cant get it out! Thats why there are regulations/laws about wasting game meat!

It takes two experienced guys about 1/2 hour to skin & quarter an elk and get it hung in the shade! Then pak it out! I have killed plenty of elk durring archery hunts in Sept and never suffered meat loss due to not being able to get a vehicle into the kill site! The gutless method is the way to meat preservation! Getting the skin off and quatering will do more for cooling/preserving fresh meat than leaving it whole and hauling it whole back to camp!

  6. Be sure BOTH belt pulleys are lined up perpendicular so the belt isn't at any angle, which migh produce a vibration.

If the key (bar) doesn't have a concave little area where the set screw contacts it, try making one. First, put it all together with a bit of lipstick on the tip of the set screw that you lightly tighten until it touches the bar. Next, you can take either drill with a bit or a roto tool with an abrasive SMALL tip that will etch metal right at the lipstick mark. It doesn't have to be very deep. Put everything back together.

The only other problem could be the threads in the pulley. If they are a bit stripped, the set screw will work its way out more easily with the vibrations. In this case, it could be enlarged a bit and retapped for a bigger set scew. Or, as suggested, use Loctite on the screw.

    +1 on what Tony says!

On another note why dosn't one of your local members get off there behinds and help U....!?

I believe you live in the Globe or Superior area and I am shure there is a handyman experienced member or two up there!

  7. /> Thanks for posting this AZ-Sawback. I had Amanda pull the plug earlier today on my topic. My only intent was to draw attention to the guy that was caught red handed and admitting stealing stuff for 15years in the area.

    Thanks again !

    TJ

Sound like you might have jumped the gun there a little bit Magnum PI. Next time you decide to go "viral" with your hot scoop you might wanna ensure not to slander people you dont even know. Why not just let the law handle these types of things Judge Dredd? Your case will hardly rival the State of Florida Vs Zimmerman on tv if that what you were hoping for. keep up the good work Columbo!!!

    THIS GUY ROCKS! ......LMAO!

  9. When I set a camera at a water hole I use the time lapse and set the camera way back from the water ,many times up high in a tree! Prefferably back far enough to monitor the entire water hole and set it to take 2 pic every 5 or 10 minutes daytime with a large gig card its good fo a month! Set ups like this are way less likely to be messed with!

I also have used decorative plastic barrel cactus (Micheales artsy fartsystore) that are just big enough to put a small cam into.... These have never been stolen by a human, once a bear picked it up and moved it and I was lucky to notice it when checking a trail by the location!

Always wash my hands before setting or checking cams and spray down cam and area with scent eliminator - Bears zero in on cams that have odors of humans on them!
