I hate hold over reticles! Unless you spend big money on a ffp ( first focal plane) scope, their useless unless set at max power. I missed a huge buck on the kiabab a few years back at 300 yards because of them, scope was on 7x not 9x, I kept shooting over his back. I also like to have moa turrets and not caliber specific turrets, I can shoot every different load out of my guns with just a simple ballistics program. I hope this helps

That bucks better than 74! Great buck! Congrats on that awesome antelope!

Chef I'd like a record of that please I'll try to find the ice cream pics when I get home. Not sure how to get em on my computer, but I'm sure my deluxe printer copier thing is capable.

Sorry boys, no more pics of her to share. I don't even want to say what town that pic was taken in, just in case her husband is a cwt member. He'd kick my skinny butt!!! Lol

Ready2hunt Not worried about to much, she's out of everyone's league on this site! She's a good girl and as redneck as they get! I'm so proud of her! I was giving her crap about shooting her new pet, her reply was "only if I get the backstraps". She became my favorite cousin at that moment! :*)

Attention Campers/Hunters New rule in affect on leaving Trailer in the woods
Hornhunter247 replied to muzzlehunter75's topic in The Campfire
GBA it happens a lot more than you think. And a lot of this has come about from people getting their trail cameras ripped off. I'd be willing to be that AZ probably gets better than 1000 reports filed every year. And you know most of these people want the sheriffs dept to bring in helicopters, dogs, take finger prints, tire track molds and whatever else they think they deserve when they get something stolen. I hate thieves and hope they get caught every time, but a lot of this is preventable. -
I did warn her about the rut, looks like now I'm going to have to have a talk with her about cwt.com members also

This is my cousin with a bull that always hangs around my uncles house. This was taken about a month ago.

Diehard I have some pics ill try to find! In the mid 90's I lured a monster nontypical in with an ice cream cone, got some great pics with that buck. One of both of us licking the cone together! That buck let us pet it and had no fear of people. He stayed around the visitor center on the south entrance. One of the coolest deer I've ever seen. I also had a huge typical about 4 years ago eating sun chips out of my hand there. Same thing, no human fear. Those deer see millions of people every year, and get fed by all of them. I also heard if a giant bull that used to hang out there and let people pet it, I never saw him though. Those animals up there are exactly like pets!

Attention Campers/Hunters New rule in affect on leaving Trailer in the woods

I agree with this law. What's even funnier is hearing about people complaining about their trailers being broke into and destroyed when they leave them unattended. The funny thing is most of believe that this is because if reserving spots! Partially yes, but there has been a huge problem with people filing complaints about their belongings being stolen and vandalized. Well here you go, don't leave it and it won't be stolen or destroyed! Now not only is it illegal to steal someone else's property, but now it's illegal for you to leave your property unattended! I've been telling people for years to not complain when their trail cams and what nits get taken, as the best way to protect them from this is to stop you from leaving it there to begin with! And I hate seeing someone's empty trailer in any spot that I like to camp in. It gets real old seeing this every time I try to go camping. And yes I haul my trailer 750 miles each way, even if I'm coming back in a week. -
Just like when I told a G&F officer I saw some javelina in unit 9 about 20 years ago, he point blank called me a liar. Well now those pigs are everywhere up there with hunts now starting! Lol

Thea are the exact replies I was looking for. I have a few higher end scopes that I am really happy with, but had heard from a friend how great his minox scope is. They look like a solid product, and for the price look even better. But I think I'm going to stick with what I know. Thanks for the honest comments guys!

1st Antelope Hunt for the Wife, live play by play.......
Hornhunter247 replied to twigsnapper's topic in Antelope Hunting
Great write up! And what a great wife! Next time let that woman shoot her a yote! Lol -
That's a great bull! Way to get it done!
-
I just use bungee cords. I do lose one every so often, so take a few spares.
-
Oh and here's a great tip for those that haven't used chains much, put them on BEFORE you need them!!!! Lol I'm always that guy that is covered in mud because I didn't. Good luck out there guys!
-
I'm pretty sure they make chains according to tire size, not the rim size. A set if chains that are for a 265/70r17 can be used on a 265/75r16 also. I'd try them on for fit and go from there. I think they will fit a wide range if tires also.

That's a giant goat! 83-85" pretty easy
-
Out of curiosity, how long do they want to hold it for? If I were in his shoes I would be as nice as possible, but I'd let them know that I'm going to go out of my way to inform the hunting/shooting community of their policies. And that I'm always going to look into local and state laws to see if they have any legal right to hold a firearm beyond the Arizona requirements. I'd tell them have a nice day, and follow through.
-
That's a beautiful buck! I hope you post a few more pics. Congrats on that one!

I'm considering moving back to AZ for a year just so I can buy a lifetime license. Do you think it would be worth it after moving back to NM after I've obtained it?
-
Yeah I know what your talking about. I believe your right on them being three way head. I have never used one as I'm always looking for ultra light over convenience. I've never had any problems getting my legs adjusted close enough, or my head tilted bad enough to want one I guess lol
-
Are you talking about a fluid head? I know I have a few of them that move in any direction up/down, left/right and diagonal. I love them over any ball head or pistol grip I've ever used! I just recently put together a new packing set up that consists of a vanguard ph-111 head and promaster legs. Sooooo smooth and light!!! The head is a dream with my 12x50 swaro's or my 80mm scope.

Has to be someone smarter than me though! It took me awhile just to figure out how to turn that feature off on my phone! Haha
