I got my lion back from The Taxidermist. I was fortunate enough to be archery deer hunting when I came across this lion who was also deer hunting! Lucky day! Happy to have it home. Sorry I do not know how to flip these pictures from my phone.

Keith, it is in the archives from Aug 2012....basically, I was archery deer hunting in a tree stand. Just at the end of the day, here comes Mr lion, who is also deer hunting. He is sitting, facing my direction and I am waiting for a shot. I can't wait any longer, so I start to draw back and then Mr lion gives me a broadside shot at 40 yards. I hit the lion and he jumps straight up in the air and takes off. I almost fell out of the tree I was so excited! After a long search (in the dark that night and in the light the next morning) I find him. It was in tough, thick country and the blood trail was difficult. Should be getting him back in the next week or so with a life size mount.

I saw no bear sign up on the rim in 3c area.

I have spent some good time hunting bears over the last 4-5 years. I called one bear in for a friend, and I glassed one up for myself. I saw a bear last year at 30 yards, in VERY thick brush and couldn't get a shot off. I am going to be after them again this fall (and spring) to see if I get lucky. I learn more and more each year but still have plenty more to figure out. I would look back at every bear thread on this forum and it should give you some good ideas for terrain and locations. Finding their food. Water holes. Predator calling. Glassing the steep canyons. Good luck!
