Thanks to everyone for all the help/input.

Do yourself a favor and focus his attention towards a pair of bino's or a spotting scope. That way he's more gainfully employed, learning something, and you don't have to worry about whether or not the iron on his hip is legal.
My Brother already does help out with the spotting. He knows the do's and don't s of gun safety. I just wanted to see if he could carry legally.

The only thing you can hunt with a 22lf is some small game!
Everyone should read the Arizona Revised Statues when you have questions. Some are difficult to read!

I searched for minor and firearms.....Didnt read everything and there may be other sections explain more so read as needed.

minors and firearms are a BIG DEAL....Class 6 Felony.....Not sure what class 6 gets you!
Anyway, looks like some provisions do cover a minor's lawful transportation of a firearm and hunting! Hope this help!
My brother is NOT hunting anything at all on this hunt, not small game/not big game. He is not hunting anything at all. I just wanted to find out if it was legal for him to carry a sidearm.

My prayers go out to their families.

if he has a hunting lic. he could always say he was rabbit hunting, wouldnt buy a lion tag and tell a G&F officer he was hunting lion with a 22 pistol pretty sure 22 isnt legal method of take for a lion
He has no hunting license. He's just tagging along with me on my hunt for the hiking/camping/eating.

I seem to remember that it is only illegal to buy a firearm if you are under 21, not own one or carry one (but could be wrong). I always had a sidearm while hunting, even when i was younger. Never thought anything of it.
This is what i was thinking about. My Dad bought this handgun not too long ago for him to plink with and wanted to carry it when he heads out with me. I just want to make sure its legal to do so.
What I know is....
18 yrs old/older to buy Rifle or Shotgun
21 yrs old/older to buy handgun
18 yrs old/older to carry handgun (Open Carry)
21 yrs old/older to carry (open carry & now concealed carry without permit)
But not too sure if its different for younger people who are out hunting??? ( well not really hunting but tagging along)

I think he would probably be able to carry it if he was 21 but because he is under 21 and it is a pistol he can't!
Yeah thats what I figured. Thanks for the input!

I would think that he would be considered as actively hunting without a license.
So even if he's just tagging along with me and he's carrying a sidearm he would be considered "hunting"? Is it like that for everyone even if over 21? I've always carried a sidearm on me when I go out with my buddies when they go hunting. Usually everyone in the group always carries a sidearm?

My younger brother (15 yrs old) will be heading out with me on my October hunt. He has been hunting before and has always carried his rifle with him. He recently got a new pistol (.22lr) and wanted to carry the pistol instead of his rifle being that he didnt get a tag. Is it legal for him to carry sidearm? We always go out target shooting, so he never carried being that we used tables to hold all rifles/handguns. Now that we are heading out he wanted to know if he could carry it? I can't seem to find anything, would he have to be 18 to carry while hunting? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Haha I Knew I was gonna catch some heat for my avatar, haha it's all goooood! GO CATS!
I'm heading out to hunt on the weekend of Oct. 26th.
1 More question (SORRY!)... What's the best/easiest way to field dress a deer? I've never done one on my own I only "helped out" from time to time but it's been so long I don't really remember. I've looked up some different ways online, But I'm looking for the most simple/easiest way for a beginner.

Thanks everyone! 1 more question... Where can I buy a Forest Service Map?

Thanks. I'm mainly looking for a good spot to set up camp.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in. Everybody was very helpful and I will have to see what my situtation is when it comes down to it for the processing. I'm heading out to 34a. Anybody know of any spots to check out, not looking for anybodies honey spots, just trying to figure out a good area. This is my first time out to 34a. I've always gone out to 36a.

How's it goin everyone? New member here from Tucson! I'm heading out to my first Whitetail hunt (On my own) in October and would like some advice/help on a couple things. I used to go out hunting with my Grandfather, Father, Uncles and cousins every season when i was younger up until I was about 14 or so. Since then I havent gone deer hunting and have been out of the "Loop".
When I was younger I never hunted myself because it was my Uncle/Grandfather with the tag, So I was basically just tagging along for the expierience. Now I'm getting back into it. My questions are mainly about field dressing, packing out, skinning/cutting meat. being that I dont really remember how this party went when I was younger.
So my questions are....
After kill, I tag, then start to field dress. Is it better to take to processor or just to skin and cut meat myself?
If I do skin/cut meat (I have no expierience in meat cutting) how should I go about doing it? Any sites with certain cuts?
If I skin/cut meat myslef can I keep head and antlers so I can keep and take home skull/antlers?
What do I do with the bones and skin after I'm done skinning/cutting meat? Do I just leave it there?
Sorry for such a long read, I just want to make sure I do everything correct being that I havent gone out for deer in a while now. Any input or help is greatly appreciated.
Is It Legal?

Like you said it above, he wants to carry because he wants to, I remember my cousins carrying at a young age, all were very responsible. I didnt start carrying until I was 18 because I never had a handgun of my own. I see no problem in letting him carry while he tags along with me. There wont be any target shooting until the last day before we leave back home. I for sure would rather him carry a side arm on him, than not while were out hunting. This is a new unit for me, and you never know who/what you might run into out there. He's very responsible for his age and knows all about proper gun safety.
