Excuse my ignorance, but does the Savage rifle have the Accutrigger or is that only on the newer models?

Are You Crazy Enough To Run After A Mt. Lion ;)
kphunter replied to Buck Smasher's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Years ago, my wife and her guide chased one on the white mtn 'rez. It was elk season, and she had a cow elk tag. For $1 she was able to purchase a lion tag. We were driving a mountain rode and there up on the ridge was a huge lion. Looked like it was stalking something. They jumped out of the vehicle and chased the lion with rifle in hand. By the time they got up to where the lion was perched it was long gone. -
I deep fried my wild turkey and it turned out well. The breast and leg meat cook at different times, so next time I think I'll remove the legs and cook them separately or grind up the meat and make burgers. KP

I use the same ammo in 168 grain, 30-06. They're extremely accurate, and do the job! -
Great buck, good luck to you!

Where are the squirrels?
kphunter replied to savagman's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Was up in 3C last weekend. Didn't see nearly as many Aberts as when my wife and I were there for the turkey season. Fall break and a junior elk hunt contributed to the squirrels holing up for the weekend. Did manage to kill a couple but hoped to limit. -
Nice chocolate bear

Savagman: Was thinking of heading up there this weekend, probably within 5BS. Is this where you were looking for squirrels, or lower down? -
I've seen a couple of half eaten cats in my neighborhood. Shouldn't let your cats roam in coyote country, that's the way I see it.

Killed a couple of bears yesterday

That would qualify for the 1% rule (sorry, that's from another hunting board) - awesome! -
Great, is your show only on the internet or will you be on TV as well?

Scouted my son's cow hunt, lots o bulls few cows?
kphunter replied to apache12's topic in Elk Hunting
I would stick with the western side of the unit, there are higher densities of elk there. -

Also a big 5BS fan. Wife and I tagged out on cow elk last fall. John, good luck on your 22N bull tag. Our coues hunt starts the same time as your bull hunt, but could meet you for a day of scouting sometime. Let me know! KP
