This has been my argument for a long, long time. Its cheaper to poach and take your chances than to hunt legally... If I was a younger man, I would be practicing what I preach. a friend of my dads still uses the tape player and the cone speaker and we have done pretty well with that. he has been using it ever since i can remember. I have used this type of caller exclusevily for years and have called and killed lions, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, feral dogs, and many other types of game. My son and I call quite a bit and i cannot justify 700 bucks for a Foxpro, no way. You cant go wrong with an old tape player.. Ron

In my opinion, The 338 WM is worthless. If you like paying big bucks for ammo, way too much recoil and like to wear earplugs, keep it. If you want to shoot game out past 300 yards( The 338 is like slinging pumpkins past 200 yds. drops like a rock) get a 300 WM. A 300 WM shoots faster, flatter, has less recoil,bullets are cheaper, also it retains more energy at further distances.. Im not even goin to comment about ultra mags or short magnums.....Much more benefits in the 300 than the 338. Sell it and buy a more useful gun. A 338 has its place, and its not for elk. its for dangerous game in africa... Ron

Lance, Man my curiosity has got the best of me!! My son and I had that same hunt this year and last year. We didnt kill any elk, although we seen em a few times. I was holding out for a 350 bull or better, but it didnt pan out this year. I might have thought twice about that bull that your Dad killed tho!!! I also thought I ran into all the unfriendly landowners in the area. Apparantly I didnt!! I also thought we looked over all the bucks too!! We had several picked out in case the big boy here didnt cooperate, and I never saw them 2 that you posted pics of. Heres a pic of the buck I killed this year, It scores right at 83 and 4/8. What did them 2 that you got pics of score? they are really nice!! I have emailed Tines(Jake) several times in the past few months, Could you please PM me? Ron

Here it is, my first rifle goat. I couldnt be more happier. My son and I watched this buck for over 2 months and made the long trips every weekend checking on him to make sure no one else had discovered him. Lo and Behold, we got lucky and not another soul had found him. The trip one way from our house was 135 miles. We got alot of gas tied up in this one!! My son,whos 13, was with me and we had a super time. He had the tag last year and killed a nice goat around 80" This buck here scores 83-4/8!! UNbelievable!!! Man Im stoked!! We got him at daylight with one shot. He was right where he has been the whole time we have been watching him. It was worth the 17 year wait of putting every year and not getting a tag, well now its worth every minute!!! Enjoy the pics!! Ron

LOL. Hes 83.5 The first night we saw him, on the way home I was figuring the score all the way home. I came up with 83. In the next weeks I talked myself down to about 80. I didnt want to over guestimate him... Heres another good one.... After we got him, I kept coming up with 79???? I thought o well, he a beautiful goat and Im happy with him. I kept adding it up out loud and my son kept interupting me on the first 2 measurements... I was adding 6-1/2 & 7 as 11-1/2. Thats how I kept coming up with 79 instead of 83.....LOL Thanks for all the nice comments guys.... Ron
