2001 Toyota Tundra 4x4 4.7 V8 Limited Access Cab $6000 OBO

Please read entire post!!!

Many of you may have seen this truck for sale in Tucson. It’s now located in Bellemont. I bought it but quickly found out it needed a bit more work than I had anticipated. I’ve put a decent amount of work into diagnostics, repairs and getting it cleaned up so hopefully this extra information will be beneficial to you. I did drive it from Benson to Bellemont with no issues.

The Good:

Clean title in my name

New transfer case actuator

New front differential actuator

New lower ball joints

New upper control arms and ball joints

New front leveling struts

New rear shocks

Newer BFG KM3s with only 6k miles

(255/85r16 10ply)

Newer steering rack and bushings

New front brakes

New brake booster

Brake fluid flush with DOT4 fluid

New plugs and wires

New carrier bearing

New hood lift struts

Newer battery from 7/2025

Timing belt & water pump done at 145k in 2023

Transmission shifts great

Engine runs strong and doesn’t use any oil

Heater and AC work great

Cruise control works

No tears or stains in seats

Kenwood double din stereo with Bluetooth

Aluminum camper shell

Thornton Racing OBD chip to improve fuel mileage

LED headlights

All lights (except for fogs) function properly

Weathertech floor mats up front

Window tint

The bad:

The gauge cluster was changed out so it does not read actual mileage of vehicle, I’m not sure of actual mileage

Needs lower control arms (bushings are bad and won’t align)

Needs RR wheel bearing

ABS light is on, the rear axle housing was changed out from a non ABS truck and they cut the wires at the frame

Front bumper is pretty beat up

Body has a few dents and dings but paint is in pretty decent shape for a 1st gen

Windshield is cracked but only in the tinted brow so it’s not noticeable

Transfer case front output shaft seal has small leak

One panel in rear window was broken and replaced but now the slider doesn’t work

Might have an exhaust manifold leak (common known 1st gen issue) you can hear it ticking while driving

Not sure when oil was last changed but it looks clean on the dipstick

Trailer 4 pin plug missing, wiring is there but needs an adapter plug

Vacuum line from intake resonator box to power steering assist is broken

Tailgate mechanism consists of baling wire but it works

Missing radio antenna

I may be forgetting a few things but I’m trying to point out every flaw and good thing this truck has to offer. Ultimately if you do the lower control arms, RR wheel bearing and align it this truck will be perfect for getting you around.

The list of new parts in the front end is impressive, especially the lower ball joints which are a huge safety point on these 1st gens. The gauge cluster swap makes the mileage a mystery, but these 4.7 engines are tanks if the timing belt was actually done. $6k for a 4x4 with newer KM3 tires and a shell is a pretty solid starting point for an Arizona truck.
