I take it you didn't read the discussion topic about the forum upgrade and how to select different color choices? As was the case with the old forum, there are several themes available and you can choose what you like. Some like it dark, some like it light, so try the different themes and see what you like. Down at the bottom middle or bottom left (depending on which theme you are currently looking at) there is a text dropdown menu called theme. Click on it and you will see what themes are available. As has been said many times already today, this forum upgrade will take time until we can get settled on what themes work with the new software. None of the themes show as blazing white on my computer....how it looks depends on the type of monitor you have and the settings on that monitor or your photo. so just pick a theme that works for your devices.

Ok, I added a new theme which I think has a lot better contrast....I set it as a the new default theme, but if you already selected a different one, it might not automatically change for you. So you might want to try it out and see how you like the new one. It's called Dimension 4.3. And in Dimension 4.3 the theme dropdown menu is moved over to bottom left, so if you don't like it and want to change to another, look there.

yes, it should be easier to attach photos, and you can also click Notify me of replies really easily when you make a post too. I am able to edit all the colors for the text in the themes, but there are so many options it takes time to figure out which color setting controls which text in the forum.

fyi, tech support says the "go to first unread post" in a topic is accomplished by clicking on the dot to the left of the topic title. See graphic below. oooo....I just noticed a feature I like with the new system. Multi quote....so you can quote more than one person in your reply...you can see how I used that feature to reply to two posts about the same thing in this post.

Are you logged in from your phone? If so, tap on the three horizontal bars in upper right and it should pull up envelope icon and notification icons
-
yes, I am working on it.

They are in the same place they were before....look in upper right corner and just left of your name for a mail envelope icon. click on the icon to access your messages.

This is not happening for me. All long posts appear normal to me. You might try the other theme and see if it still happens there. Look at bottom middle of forum for theme dropdown menu and select a different theme. If the same problem happens in the other theme, then it's something with your monitor. If not, then it's something about the theme that doesn't work with your system.
-
yes, I am trying to figure that one out. I noticed the same thing. Probably a setting I need to find and turn on.

Interesting....for me, the black on brown is way better to read than the light colored text. I guess it depends on your monitor. That's why I provide options....everything looks different depending on your monitor, so choose a theme that looks best for you. I will be adding more theme options, so check the dropdown theme list at bottom middle of forum to find available themes.

Yes, the contrast wasn't very good on the camo one, but the contract is good on the more plain theme labelled "default". Select whichever appeals to you for now. I will be working on getting a better theme. and yes, specific feedback is much more useful than just general complaint about change. but before you all start with complaints, just give things a few days to settle down and give yourself time to explore the new software. Everything is almost exactly in the same places as it was, but the old software version wasn't supported anymore and it wasn't allowing people to register for the forum unless I manually created their accounts, which I have been doing for many months now! It also wasn't getting security upgrades, so we had to upgrade to this new version. I am still learning all the new features.

Give me some time to work things out. It's always a process to get everything the way I want it. I will be adding themes that have different color schemes so you can choose what looks best to you. Right now I have the camo based theme and the bluish theme. If you look at the bottom middle of the forum, you will see the word Theme and if you click on it, it will show you what themes are available. As I had with the old forum, you can select whatever theme you like best. During the course of the next few days, I will be purchasing more themes and adding them. You can then try them out and see which appeals to you. I will also likely make some editing changes to the colors of the text for some of the themes to make them easier, but this all takes time, so just bear with me for awhile.

There is a little mail envelope icon in same area as before. In upper right corner of forum, look just left of your login name for the mail envelope button. Click on it to see list of your messages.

There is a text link in the same area as where the new content button was. Now it's called unread content. So same place it was, just a different name. look in upper right corner of the forum, under search bar.

Delorme inReach Explorer satellite tracker SOS unit
CouesWhitetail replied to dpr64's topic in Classified Ads
battery life on these is outstanding. You can leave it on for many days and have it track your location every 10 mins and it will still have lots of battery power. If you leave it on full time even while sleeping at camp, the unit goes into a power saving mode when you are not moving. Great product. have been using it for work for years. -
If you have a hunting related article to share, perhaps about 800 words, contact Pete Aleshire. He is looking for articles for a magazine I think they call the High Country Sportsman. If you have something you want to share, give him a call. I think he needs some articles soon. 480-242-7633 or email paleshire@payson.com

Garmin Inreach is what I use. Great product and the inreach allowed two communication years before SPOT. I started with SPOT but it was unreliable and the InReach has been so much better.

from the Sports Afield website : http://sportsafield.com/remembering-bill-quimby/ REMEMBERING BILL QUIMBY – by Sports Afield Hunter, conservationist, writer, and author of many bestselling big-game hunting books, he left his mark on the outdoor world. Author, editor, publisher, columnist, and lifelong Arizonan William R. “Bill” Quimby has died at age 81. From 1983 to 1999, Quimby was editor and publisher of Safari Club International’s Safari magazine, the annual SCI Record Books of Trophy Animals, and the monthly Safari Times and Safari Times Africa newspapers. From 1967 to 1994, he was the outdoor editor of the Tucson Citizen and a member of its editorial board from 1987 to 1994. He was born in Tucson on September 30, 1936, and attended schools in Yuma before returning to Tucson in 1954 to enroll in the University of Arizona’s College of Business and Public Administration. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, he was employed in the advertising divisions of Levy’s and Jacome’s department stores, and at local advertising and public relations agencies. He founded and published Arizona Outdoor News, a regional newspaper covering Arizona’s hunting and fishing opportunities, for three years in the 1960s. He was a founding member of the Tucson Art Directors Club and southern Arizona chapters of Ducks Unlimited and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He also served as the 1990 president of the One Shot Antelope Hunt’s Past Shooters Club in Lander, Wyoming. During the 1960s, Quimby won several metalicas siluetas—long-distace, high-power rifle shooting contests—in Sonora, Mexico. In 1973, the Arizona Wildlife Federation presented Quimby with the Conservation Communicator of the Year award for “outstanding contributions to the wise use and management of the nation’s natural resources.” In the 1980s he served as a member of a governor’s panel that advised the Arizona Game and Fish Department on fundraising methods. After retiring in 1999, he divided his time between his home in Tucson and a cabin in Greer, and wrote or edited more than two dozen books on international big-game hunting subjects. One of his books, Royal Quest, told of the hunting expeditions of Prince Abdorreza Pahlavi, brother of the last Shah of Iran. Another of his books chronicled the history of Safari Club International. His own memoir, Sixty Years a Hunter, was published in 2010. Quimby received numerous awards as a reporter, columnist, editor, and publisher, and, in 2003, he became one of only three authors to be presented the Peter Hathaway Capstick International Literary Award, the highest award a hunting and adventure author can receive. He was inducted into the Arizona Outdoor Hall of Fame in 2006. Quimby hunted in North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, South America, and the South Pacific, taking more than sixty different types of big-game animals, including all ten species found in Arizona. Utilizing his knowledge of hunting in Africa, he moderated Safari Club International’s popular “Your First African Safari” seminars for nearly twenty-five years at the club’s annual conventions in Nevada. He is survived by Jean, his wife of more than 62 years, daughter Stephanie Quimby-Greene of Tucson, and grandchildren Natalie Greene of San Francisco and Logan Greene of Tucson.
