    Awesome Encounter

Wow, that is awesome! I had a similar experience with a gopher snake eating a rat. I heard noise in the grass and went to investigate and saw the snake already squashing the rat. Cool stuff!

Where to shoot near Sierra Vista?

You might call the USFS and ask them. I know a lot of guys shoot in areas up the road into Hunter Canyon. However, I also know that the USFS has been closing access to those areas because they are worried about all the shooting in there. It can be pretty much non-stop shooting in that area during the day and people were complaining.

New to this forum (Sort of)

As has been mentioned, you don't have to scroll through each forum to see new posts. Use "View New Content" button in upper right and it will show you a list of all the topics from all the subforums that have new posts since your last visit. (you can actually change it to view new posts in last 24 hours or since your last visit or many other options, but I think the default is new posts since your last visit). That way you can quickly review new content without having to visit each subforum and scrolling through all the topics.

Treating a dog for a rattlesnake bite?

It might be an allergic reaction to some kind of insect bite or sting too. I have seen dogs swell up pretty good for those. Benadryl works for that. A friend recently had the same thing happen to her dog and the vet mistakenly thought it was from a snake. Turns out he had chewed on something that lodged in his gum and got badly infected. She said the dogs breath smelled really bad....so give it a sniff or look around the dogs mouth too to make sure it's not something inside the mouth causing overall swelling.

Using 2-way radios while hunting. Legal, ethical or what?

That's the way I understand it, if you want to enter the animal in the book go back to hand signals. That's the way I understood it..... Doesn't the article give anymore information as to why they made that statement?

    self inflating sleeping pads

I have used Thermarests for years....seem very durable to me. I have smaller ones for backpacking and larger ones for tent or car camping. One extra bonus of an inflatable pad is that you can use it to float down a river like I did! I even upgraded to a super luxurious one with a foam pad on it, but that thing is a beast and takes up a lot of room when packing. But it's super nice! It's called the DreamTime XL.
