Wow, that's awesome! Please keep sharing pics! -
Your avatar is showing the same elk as always.....my suggestion is to clear your browser cache, maybe then you will see the right image. But it is showing fine now.

I bought mine years ago and it isn't the spiral that they have out now. The stitching is similar, just not in a spiral. But I love the way it stretches to let me sit up and cross my legs in the bag (say if I want to have a cup of coffee while sitting in the bag, or reading at night or something). The stretch stitching might not be worth is if you don't drink coffee or hot chocolate or tea while still in your bag. But I use the bag a lot even in cabins or other people's houses so they don't have to wash sheets or make the bed, so it's nice to have the ability to sit up cross legged in the bag. The stretch stiching also keep the bag a little tighter to your body while sleeping and moving around at night. Mine was called the super stretch hugger and I think it's been replaced with the super stretch spiral. I got the ultralight fill, zero degree, down sleeping bag. I just love it! I tend to get cold easy while sleeping and I am always warm in this bag. Took me several years to realize I need to get sleeping bags that are rated at least 20 degrees below where the temperature will be in order for me to stay warm.

Homemade Pumpkin Zucchini Chocolate Chip Bread
CouesWhitetail replied to My Rights As An American's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
Sounds awesome! I know what you mean about pumpkins taking over...we had a couple plants start in our compost area this year....but they died back quickly when I failed to keep up with the watering....But they grew FAST for awhile and flowered and started making little pumpkins -
Happy Birthday!!! Hope you are out doing something fun for it!

My favorite backpack is my fathers old aluminum external frame pack that he had as a boyscout. Everyone laughs at me, but I love it! Most comfortable pack I have ever used. It's the green pack in that bivy photo I posted. The waistbelt has zero padding on it, it's just a canvas belt, but it's sooooo comfortable for some reason. And it's very lightweight. Just doesn't have a ton of room. My backpack tent is a Big Agnes Seedhouse SL2. It's a good tent, but it's tight for two people. Perfect for one. Fast setup, lightweight and freestanding. Love folding back the rainfly to watch the stars through the screen. my sleeping bag is a super lightweight 0 degree down bag by Montbell...the super stretch I think it's called. LOVE that bag! Very lightweight and packs small and very warm.

Wow, Nik Wallenda walks on a wire across the canyon with no safety rope! That was impressive and they are showing it again right now on Discovery channel! WOW!! -

CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in The Campfire
That stunt seriously impressed me.....I don't know how anyone can control their mind that well to just walk out there and deal with the fear and as he said the "very confusing optical illusion" that came from the rope/pendulums and canyon walls. Plus the winds, I mean, wow, that takes some serious concentration and faith. WOW! If anyone is interested, there is a pretty neat documentary about another tight rope walker that walked between the twin towers in NYC many years ago. I think it's called Man on a Wire and Netflix has it online. Apparently that same tight rope walker planned to walk this same canyon, but ran out of funding and didn't go through with it.... -

Sorry guys, I have been out doing owl surveys in the Huachucas and wasn't able to address the problem until this afternoon. I have some tech support people working on it. There was some malware introduced to the site through Word Press and it's affected the main site and some of the forum. I found that I can access the forum easily using the New Content link. Look in upper right and click on View New Content, then when that comes up, copy the URL as a favorite and use that link to visit the forum rather than the main forum page. Or just don't visit for a while while I get this issue fixed. Should hopefully be fixed within a few hours, but could go on until Monday.

I love backpack hunting! For coues hunting in lower elevations I almost always use my bivy sack. It's rare that we get a lot of bad weather in AZ, and even if we do, it's generally not a multiday event. I have been snowed on and rained on in my bivy and was fine. You can get a bivy that has a hoop for over your head so it's not as confining. I don't bother with that but can see how it would be nice. some pics from last year's backpack trip showing my bivy sack. I use a lightweight backpacking therma rest inflatable pad to sleep on, but some like the convenience of those roll up foam pads. I use a very small stove that screws on to the small propane type fuel canisters and love the lightweight nature of the titanium pots. To me it's worth the money if you intend to backpack often. that little pillow you see is the kind that airlines give out on the plane. But you can get inflateable ones, or use your extra clothes as a pillow, which I do often.

yes, there are still seats at the table...I hadn't even added anyone to the table yet. I likely won't be able to make it because I think Jim Reynolds will be doing his party that day. However, Jim might move the date, so will find out soon. so here is the starting list for the table: Peg and TJ Shelvin and his wife (let me know if she is for sure Shelvin) Adam? And adam, they don't usually have as big an auction or raffle at this event as some of the other banquets. But I can check with Eddy to see if they have any lists yet of items.

Yes, OE4A is a great one! It's different than a regular game species banquet. Since they are set up to help kids, it has a whole different emotional element to the banquet. here is a link to their website so you can learn more about them. We are planning to have a CWT table for this one, so if you decide you want to go, let me know. http://www.outdoorexperienceforall.org/

Sad find today while checking trail cameras
CouesWhitetail replied to bowhuntaz1's topic in The Campfire
Sad indeed.....we have been watching some great horned owl babies in a nest between a couple billboards in Globe, and they left the nest a couple weeks ago and we saw one road killed right near there the other day. Very sad....such a waste. -
Happy Birthday and Father's Day Shelvin!! Thanks for all you do for CouesWhitetail.com!
