Pierce Automotive is awesome! The shop is owned by Mike Pierce, an avid hunter and he also has volunteered for years at the women's javelina camp I run. He and his crew are great at diagnosing issues and he works on all kinds of vehicles, including diesel trucks and motorhomes. He is in Marana, but it's not far from North and West Tucson. I can't say enough about their diagnostic skills. I have had my jeep at other shops in Tucson and after they failed to solve the problem, I towed it to Mike's shop and they figured out it some wires were touching due to wire covering shrinking back over time. A little shrink wrap on them and vehicle was fixed....after spending hundreds at the other shop for worthless attempts to fix it. Mike has also fixed up other vehicles for CWT members. https://www.mapquest.com/us/arizona/auto-repair-marana/pierce-automotive-10481139 13780 Sandario Rd Marana AZ, 85653 Tel. (520) 682-3957 Fax. good to know, thanks!

I never took it down, in fact, I am not even sure what thread you are referring to. There are lots of people in this forum that go all crazy on here claiming stuff gets taken down. Most of the time, it's just someone can't find the post, but the thread is still there right where it always was. Even when I show people where the thread is, they still don't change their minds. I don't know why people do that, but it's pretty common around here.

Love the spotted skunk too, they are very cool looking! For those not familiar with that species of skunk, here is a link to more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotted_skunk

hahaha, I had a similar experience during elk season. I parked the vehicle in the predawn darkness at a spot I had never been to, but wanted to hunt that day. I got out of the vehicle and there were elk screaming and fighting right near me! I turned my GPS on and set it on the ground next to my vehicle so it could be searching for satellites while I was very quietly gathering my gear. I took off in the dark to follow the bugles and it wasn't until later in the morning when I took a break that I stopped to check where I was on the GPS....but I couldn't find my GPS...I had left it at the vehicle. A bit of panic flowed over me when I realized I didn't have my GPS. This was a place I had NEVER hiked in or even driven around! So I was completely unfamiliar with the area. Luckily I always carry a map and compass with me, so I took a couple bearings to some hilltops I could see and figured out where I should be on the map and roughly how I should get back. The difficult part was that my map didn't show all the dirt roads and I crossed a couple on the way back to my vehicle. It was hard just putting all my faith in the compass and not just getting on one of those roads and walking them. I didn't cross any roads in the dark on the way in, but somehow the route I took back took me over some that weren't on my map. Anyway, I have used the compass enough to trust it, so I just kept going and found the vehicle .

Instant Pot recipes (not what you think)
CouesWhitetail replied to bigorange's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
I love my Instant Pot! I haven't used it much for game yet though. I made some amazing ribs in it last night (but they were pork). I would think it would be great for any roast or stew or for things like rabbit or squirrel or even quail. -
Wow! Gorgeous bird! Congratulations and thanks for sharing the hunt with us!

You basically upload the video to a video site, such as Youtube, Vimeo or perhaps photobucket. Then copy and paste the link to that video into your post here. Vimero seems to be working the best with the current version of forum software. Sometimes Youtube links post as just a link rather than a video player showing the video in your post. I haven't used photobucket, but sounds like IA born can help with that.

We haven't had a coues photo contest in awhile. I haven't had time to run it.

Yes, you missed it. You might want to update your email associated with your account, as I emailed all forum members several times about the contest. You can see how the voting went for the top 5 in each category by looking at the most recent threads in this subforum. There are five threads right under your thread that show the contest voting results.

Anybody have a cabin on Mt Lemmon or in the Santa Ritas?
CouesWhitetail posted a topic in The Campfire
I have a couple contracts for owl surveys this summer, one is in the Catalinas and one for the Santa Rita Mountains. I am wondering if anyone has a cabin in either area that we could rent for a couple days at a time. We usually have our dogs with us, so hopefully you would be OK with that. thanks! -
Anybody have a cabin on Mt Lemmon or in the Santa Ritas?
CouesWhitetail replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in The Campfire
Yes, I do know about those USFS cabins, but thank you. I use the one on mt Lemmon fairly often. But those cabins are frequently booked up, so looking for more options. Our work schedule depends heavily on weather and so we tend to change our schedule often depending on where the wind is blowing. -
Congratulations! That was a great writeup! I enjoyed all the pics too. I love hunting on San Carlos! Glad you got to go!

Maybe part of a geocache....check geocaching.com to see if there is a cache there. It might be a "multi" cache that has different stages to finding it.

She is great! Such a beautiful voice. Mostly I have been listening to Justin Johnson....his guitar playing on his smoke and mirrors album is perfect to listen to around a campfire. He has a new album that I haven't checked out, but I think it's not in the same vein as his calmer blues/slide guitar on the other albums. one of my favorites of his: http://www.justinjohnsonlive.com/music.html

I love my Promaster 325C, it's an excellent carbon fiber tripod that's light but not too light. If you need to add weight in extra windy conditions, it has a little hook on the center column where you could hang a bag of rocks. I have these in stock and ready to ship with free shipping. If you don't like it, you can return it for a refund (assuming you don't scratch or damage it). It comes with a good ball head, but I prefer pan heads. Depends on what you like. Some people love ball heads because they are small and light. http://store.coueswhitetail.com/promaster-xc325c-tripod/
